The Unveiling of Secret Queen-Chapter 26: Owed Nathalie Quinlan’s Mother a Big Favor_1
By the time Nathalie Quinlan finished applying the medicine, a line of people left South Garden.
The Zachmann Family car was parked outside the hospital.
As Mr. Zachmann had grown old and his health had deteriorated, running around all day had worn him out. His gaunt weather-beaten face now looked somewhat tired. Mr. Zachmann Sr. pushed the wheelchair and said to Nathalie, "Nathalie, I’ll take your grandfather back to rest first. Will you be fine going to school by yourself tomorrow?"
Nathalie nodded, "No problem."
Audrick Zachmann volunteered to walk over, "Uncle, don’t worry, I’m still here. I’ll take her to school later, just rest easy!"
Leonardy Zachmann pretended to kick him and said sternly, "You better take good care of your sister, understand? Don’t be slacking off all day. If she comes back with even one hair out of place, you’ll answer to me!"
Audrick knew he wasn’t looked upon favorably, he made a noncommittal sound; his earring glistened, and he spoke nonchalantly, "I got it."
Leonardy took out a bank card from his wallet and handed it to him, his eyes softened when he looked at Nathalie, "Take this, and when you go to the mall later, buy your sister a set of clothes."
Audrick refused to accept it, slightly tilting his chin up, he replied irritably, "I don’t want it, keep it! As her brother, I can afford to buy Nathalie clothes, there’s no need for the family to pay!"
Seeing him refuse, Leonardy then turned to Nathalie, stuffed the gold card into her hand, and said with a face full of apology, "Nathalie, your Second Uncle didn’t bring any welcome gift for you. Take this card, and use it to buy whatever you like. If it’s not enough, tell your Second Brother, and I’ll send more."
The last thing Nathalie lacked was money!
She looked at the bank card Leonardy pushed towards her, a Citibank card. She also had a black card from this bank, which Lowie and the others used for wiring money. Although it wasn’t a black card, the one Leonardy gave her was a gold card. She remembered when she went to get her card, the Bank Manager told her, Citibank’s gold card had a minimum deposit of 5 million; there was no shortage of money in this card...
"Just take it! Your Second Aunt and your cousin should have come too but didn’t, I’d feel bad if you don’t accept this."
Mr. Zachmann saw that she hadn’t taken it and pride glinted in his eyes, he spoke gently, "If your Second Uncle is giving it to you, then take it. He really should have given you a more substantial welcome gift; this is too minor."
Leonardy exuded the aura of a successful man, a slight smile playing on his lips, refined and scholarly, "Nathalie, accept this for now, consider it pocket money from your Second Uncle. Your grandfather is right; this is indeed too shabby as a welcome gift!"
A Citibank gold card with 5 million too shabby.
Nathalie became even more curious to learn about the background of this group of relatives!
Unable to persuade everyone otherwise, she took the bank card and said, "Thank you, Second Uncle."
Listening to the exchange, Audrick commented with obvious envy, "Tsk, I’d really like to hear Nathalie call me ’Second Brother’ too."
His dad really treated Nathalie well, making even him, his own son, feel a bit jealous.
But it was inevitable; after all, his uncle had just one daughter, who had been lost for so many years. Moreover, his dad had mentioned before that the entire Zachmann Family owed Nathalie’s mother a favor, and the family’s success today was largely related to his late aunt.
Although he wasn’t sure what had happened back then, with the adults all showing such attitudes, being nice to his little sister was the right thing to do!
Once Audrick sorted out his thoughts, he carelessly slung an arm over Nathalie’s shoulder, standing in a casual pose, and addressed Mr. Zachmann and his father, "Grandpa, Dad, you guys go ahead, I’ll take good care of Nathalie. I’ll give you a phone call if anything comes up."
