Chapter 31: Chapter 31: You are Nathalie Quinlan?_1

McKinney No. 1 Middle School is a prestigious institution with over a century of history, producing students who every year gain admission to elite universities such as Tsinghua University and Peking University, and has seen many of its alumni achieve fame. It can be said to be the best school in McKinney.

The new semester was starting, and the school entrance was bustling with activity as numerous parents drove their children to enroll.

Amongst them, Jeff Quinlan’s newly purchased sapphire blue Bentley was particularly conspicuous on the road.

Many parents, while dropping off their children, looked in their direction with a mix of curiosity and envy; Jeff Quinlan and Ghania Quinlan were the picture of pride as they basked in attention from all around.

After casting only a glance, Nathalie Quinlan picked up her single shoulder bag and entered the school gates as if the two people at the entrance had nothing to do with her.

However, Ghania Quinlan noticed a blue figure from afar and, recognizing Nathalie Quinlan from her silhouette, tugged at Jeff Quinlan and pointed towards Nathalie’s back, "Dad, is that Sis? It looks like her from behind."

By the time Jeff Quinlan followed the direction of her finger, the rebellious figure had already disappeared into the crowd.

He furrowed his brows and said indifferently, "Don’t worry about her. Anyway, she won’t be in the same class as you. If you run into her at school, just pretend you don’t know her."

Ghania Quinlan looked in the direction where Nathalie had vanished, lips curving slightly in a feigned innocence as she stood obediently beside Jeff Quinlan and hummed in agreement, hiding her scornful disdain.

That’s right, with Nathalie’s grades, she could at best be placed in class D or F, and if she did worse, she might end up in a dump like class S!

She and Nathalie Quinlan were destined to be as different as clouds in the sky and dirt on the ground!

Ghania Quinlan’s mood suddenly improved, and with her usual friends arriving, she promptly began chatting animatedly with Jane Bailey and the rest, pushing Nathalie out of her thoughts.

...

Outside the principal’s office.

Nathalie Quinlan knocked on the door.

"Come in."

She pushed the door open, entering the spacious and bright principal’s office. A row of green plants was arranged in front of the large desk. Besides the expansive leather-topped desk, the walls were lined with bookshelves, and she noticed a number of English-language original classics glancing over them briefly.

She closed the door behind her.

There was more than one person inside.

The first to greet her was a man holding a file folder, probably in his early forties, with thinning hair on his crown and sun-drenched skin, but with bright and earnest eyes. He looked up at her arrival, surprised at first, then dropped his gaze to the document in his hands and hummed, "Nathalie Quinlan, right?"

The photo spot on the file had a picture attached, taken at a bad angle in dim lighting, the girl in the picture appeared unremarkable, her facial features indistinct.

The head teacher then compared the vibrant and strikingly beautiful girl before him with the person in the photo, finding it hard to believe they were the same.

"You are Nathalie Quinlan?" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Nathalie felt his gaze linger on her face for three or four seconds, her eyes upturned playfully, "I am Nathalie Quinlan. Good to meet you, Teacher."

Such untamed spirit showed in her demeanor!

"Oh, good, good, take a seat for now," he directed.

Other teachers in the office, seemingly organizing materials for the start of school, shifted their focus to her as she walked in.

Gabriella Cagwin was also among them.

When she saw the girl following the head teacher, she paused, thinking she had mistaken someone else for a moment, elbowed the teacher next to her, and whispered, "Mr. Liu, is she the new transfer student?"

The homeroom teacher of class C, a good-natured man, also curiously glanced over at Nathalie, then answered, "This semester the school only has one transfer student. Since she came to the principal’s office, it must be her. The young girl is quite pretty, she looks clever; I wonder how her grades are."
