Chapter 44: Chapter 44: Nathalie, you’re so wild!_1

At the police station.

Nathalie Quinlan and Amadeus Yancey were taken to separate interrogation rooms for questioning.

Jeff Quinlan rushed over, not even bothering to park his car properly, a storm brewing in his square face, he immediately grabbed a young officer upon entering the station, "Hello, comrade."

"What’s the matter?" the young officer sized him up with a haughty attitude.

What kind of attitude was this!

Jeff Quinlan, whose company had successfully gone public a few years ago, considered himself a person of some repute in McKinney but had never tolerated such disrespect before. In the end, it all came down to Nathalie’s disappointing behavior. He forced a smile, swallowed his pride, and asked, "I’d like to inquire about something."

"Did you arrest a girl involved in a mass fight? Her name is Nathalie Quinlan."

"Nathalie Quinlan? Seems like we did bring in someone by that name..."

"Where is she?"

As he spoke, from the corner of his eye, he caught sight of a group of people passing through the corridor.

She was a girl of no more than seventeen or eighteen, distinctive in appearance, with a slim waist and long legs and fair skin. Her defiant air made her instantly noticeable in the crowd!

Jeff Quinlan felt a fierce throb at his temples as he quickened his pace and loudly called out to the person walking with the police.

"Nathalie Quinlan!"

Nathalie had just finished her police transcript and was getting ready to gather her belongings and leave.

Suddenly hearing Jeff Quinlan’s voice, she turned around only to find him, fuming with anger, striding towards her and bombarding her with questions without preamble.

"Did you get into a fight? Can’t you stay out of trouble for a single day, and stop causing me problems? Every day when I’m not working, I’m cleaning up your messes!"

The corners of Nathalie’s eyes were painted with darkness, a fierce light flickered deep within them as she suppressed her emotions and asked, "Who told you?"

Jeff Quinlan was furious, his face pale with anger. Had it not been for the consideration of being in public, he probably wouldn’t have cared about maintaining Nathalie’s dignity, "Don’t play dumb with me."

"Who else but Aunt Cagwin?! She called me, begging me to come bail you out."

So it was Aunt Cagwin, Nathalie pursed her lips.

His expression ugly, not even deigning to give her a direct look, Jeff Quinlan impatiently pressed on, "Why did you fight with others? Where is the person you fought with, why don’t I see them?"

Nathalie’s eyes shimmered with a cold disdain, her answer casual, "I fought because I fought, was I supposed to check the calendar for a good day?"

Look at her, spouting such nonsense!

He struggled to contain the rage bubbling up his throat, barely suppressing his outburst, "All day long, you aren’t diligent with your studies, that would be enough; I didn’t expect you to attend a university in Beijing like Ghania. At least you could refrain from getting into trouble and fighting in public!"

Nathalie’s eyes met his, sarcasm etched on her face and a rebellious wildness in her pitch-black eyes, nothing there spoke of compliance, "Isn’t it because you pulled strings and wined and dined to get Ghania enrolled in the National Artists University?"

With a whole year left until the college entrance exam, what was Ghania going to use to get into university! It was nothing but nepotism and backdoor deals, elbowing out others for her spot.

"You..." Jeff Quinlan was so infuriated he nearly passed out right there; they were in a police station surrounded by people. How could she speak of such things so openly!

He retorted irritably, "It’s because Ghania has good grades normally. Do you think just anyone can get recommended? If I pulled strings for you, could you get in somewhere?" 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

With Nathalie’s grades, she would be hard-pressed to score average in even the most ordinary schools in McKinney, let alone escape being at the bottom of the class in No. 1 Middle School.

In the future, she might not even pass the university entrance exam, yet she never learned to restrain herself!

Hopeless!

Fearing that Nathalie would continue to contradict him, especially since Ghania’s recommended admission was indeed a blotch on the family’s reputation, Jeff Quinlan held back his anger, trying to win the sympathy of a nearby police officer, "Hello, comrade. I’m Nathalie Quinlan’s..."

Just thinking about the trouble Nathalie caused made his expression sour, and he struggled to admit their relationship, "I’m her father."
