Chapter 161: Chapter 161: Su An’an Strikes Back at Nicola’s Provocation

"Governor Raymond. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you."

Ying Jiuyao shook his hand with a forced smile, silver markings appearing on his skin as his tiger claws strained.

Raymond’s face twitched in pain, his own smile almost faltering.

He glanced at the Four Great Beast Husbands standing solemnly behind Su An’an and said meaningfully,

"The Third Princess’s entourage of guards truly lives up to its reputation."

"You flatter me."

Su An’an smiled faintly. "I was wondering, have you prepared the official approval for the female shelter?"

Raymond clapped his hands and laughed heartily, but his eyes were icy. "The Third Princess is certainly impatient. Please, follow me."

"Well, well! Isn’t this the Wasted Evil Female who used her status as an Empress to force the Five Great Beast Husbands into marriage?"

A delicate laugh, like a poisoned dagger, cut precisely through the lively atmosphere of the banquet hall.

The light from the crystal chandeliers suddenly seemed blinding, and all conversation among the guests came to an abrupt halt.

Hundreds of gazes turned in unison toward the source of the voice.

Nicola strode in on ten-centimeter crystal high heels, the fishtail hem of her gown, embroidered with clear crystals, whispering across the floor.

Her golden hair cascaded over her shoulders like sunlight, and her aquamarine cat-eyes, like deep lakes, were filled with condescending arrogance.

Behind her, five Beast Husbands stood like mobile icebergs, their oppressive auras causing the very air to ripple.

Su An’an lifted her gaze to meet Nicola’s, her voice as clear and cold as snowmelt.

"Miss Nicola, your assessment of me seems to deviate somewhat from the facts?"

"The facts? You know perfectly well what they are, don’t you?"

Nicola scoffed, flicking out a gilt-edged document with her rose-colored nails.

She raised an eyebrow, a provocative smile on her face.

"I heard you want the approval for the female shelter? What a coincidence. I’ve taken a liking to it myself."

Su An’an’s gaze shifted from the document to Raymond, the pink diamonds on her crown refracting a cold light with the movement.

"Governor Raymond, your invitation letter stated that as long as I attended, the approval document for me would take effect immediately."

A cold sneer touched her lips. "Are you going back on your word now?"

Raymond spread his hands in a false gesture of helplessness, the governor’s insignia on his chest glinting coldly in the light.

"Third Princess, the official approval must naturally be granted to the strongest female."

He deliberately stepped aside, allowing Nicola to be bathed in the spotlight.

"This lady is a candidate for Divine Female, certified by the Alliance. She is more qualified than you."

Nicola’s red lips curved, and she gently waved a feather fan. "You want the approval?"

She deliberately drew out her words, her cat ears twitching smugly from within her hair. "Beg me for it!"

Su An’an looked directly into her challenger’s blue eyes, her voice as cold as if it were forged from ice.

"Miss Nicola, are you sure you want to compare ’qualifications’ with me?"

The moment her words fell, the temperature in the banquet hall plummeted to freezing.

The light from the crystal chandeliers distorted into fragmented specks under the oppressive auras released by Big Cat, Night Abyss, Fei Zhao, and Lan Cangming.

Nicola’s Beast Husbands looked as if they were facing a great enemy, instantly shifting into combat stances.

A storm of Energy from the clashing High Rank Beastmen swept through the hall.

The guests screamed and dodged as glass goblets exploded into crystalline shards from the shockwave.

Governor Raymond raised a hand, gesturing for quiet. He looked seriously at Su An’an and Nicola and said in a low, heavy voice,

"Since both of Your Excellencies are so determined to win, why not have a match?"

"Fine. Then let our strength do the talking!"

Nicola snapped her feather fan shut. "Best two out of three. The loser not only has to give up the approval document..."

She suddenly revealed a venomous, snake-like smile, pointing the fan at Su An’an’s face.

"...but also has to give their Beast Husband to the winner."

Su An’an slapped her fan away, her pupils burning with a raging fire.

"My Beast Husbands are my partners who fight by my side, not bargaining chips to be traded away."

"Hmph! If you don’t dare to bet, just say so!"

Nicola advanced on her ten-centimeter heels, her aquamarine cat-eyes full of disdain.

"So the Third Empire Princess only knows how to hide behind her Beast Husbands like a coward?"

"Seville must have been blind to marry you back then!"

"Shut up!"

Ying Jiuyao’s tiger tail lashed out like a steel whip, cracking the marble floor on impact.

The Dragon Scales on Night Abyss’s body bristled, and a toxic mist spread through the cracks between the floor tiles.

An icy chill emanated from Lan Cangming’s entire body.

Fei Zhao’s Fox Fire instantly ignited Nicola’s feather fan.

Nicola angrily threw down the burning fan, tilting her chin up with a cold laugh.

"Did I hit a sore spot? Su An’an, if you really have any backbone, you’ll accept the challenge."

Su An’an pressed down on Ying Jiuyao’s ready claws, her black eyes churning with a cold, dark undercurrent as she looked at Nicola.

"Fine. What’s the competition?"

"It’s simple!"

Nicola raised a hand and pointed to the Four Great Beast Husbands beside Su An’an.

"A one-on-one duel between our Beast Husbands. Best two out of three!"

A sharp, cold glint flashed in her eyes.

"The loser not only gives up the approval and hands over a Beast Husband, but also has to crawl out of the banquet hall on their knees!"

A wave of sharp gasps rippled through the crowd.

But Su An’an suddenly let out a soft laugh. "Alright. But I don’t want your Beast Husbands."

"If you lose, you will transfer the Interstellar Port owned by your family to the female shelter, free of charge."

Nicola’s expression stiffened, but she quickly recovered her arrogance. "Fine! I’ll make you and your Beast Husbands lose all face!"

A silent smile touched Raymond’s lips. He raised his hand and signaled for a Jackal Wolf Beastman to strike the copper bell.

DONG! DONG! DONG!

The deep, resonant toll of the bell instantly spread throughout the entire Administrative Hall.

"Since our two distinguished guests have reached an agreement, then!"

He extended his right arm with a fake smile, pointing to the area behind the hall. "Please proceed to the Beast Fighting Arena."

The obsidian arena, modeled after the Ancient Roman Colosseum, resembled a slumbering beast.

A spectral blue barrier enveloped the entire space, casting it in a grim, cold light.

In the spectator stands, the guests whispered amongst themselves, their excited gazes constantly scanning the arena.

Raymond sat in the VIP box, his Golden Beast Pupils glinting coldly in the dim light.

He swirled the red wine in his glass nonchalantly, but his gaze remained locked on Su An’an’s group at the edge of the arena.

"Is everything arranged?"

Louis appeared silently by his side, his voice lowered to a whisper.

A meaningful curve touched Raymond’s lips. "Just wait and see. This match will draw blood. It will be a fight to the death!"

「Preparation Area - Lounge」

"Fei Zhao, you stay here." Su An’an gripped the fox’s wrist, her hold so tight it nearly left marks on his pale skin.

Her voice was soft, but it carried an undeniable resolve. "Your body hasn’t fully recovered yet."

Fei Zhao’s fox tail went rigid in an instant, his red pupils constricting. "Anan, Ying Jiuyao has to stay by your side, so I have to be the one to fight this time."

He comforted her in a gentle voice, "My combat instincts are already eighty percent recovered. It’s enough to handle them."

"No!" Su An’an’s voice trembled slightly. "Last time your genes collapsed, you almost died. Half a month is nowhere near enough time to recover."

"Anan, let me go!"

Fei Zhao’s beast eyes burned with a fierce will to fight. "How dare Nicola humiliate you! I will tear her Beast Husbands to shreds."

"Don’t worry, Anan. Big Fish and I will go first."

Night Abyss’s Dragon Scales bristled slightly, a toxic mist swirling around him. "I only need ten minutes."

Lan Cangming’s webbed ears fully extended as a deep-sea pressure spread out silently. "Let’s end this quickly."

Su An’an looked at them, her chest tightening.

The fighting spirit burning in their eyes was not something she could easily suppress.

"Promise me!" she finally relented, her voice as firm as iron. "If things go wrong, you are to forfeit immediately."

"Remember, your lives belong to me!"
