The Villainess Winning Back Her Beast Husbands-Chapter 127: What a Beautiful Male...
Evangeline’s long lashes trembled as she slowly opened her eyes.
An unnatural flush colored her cheeks. She frowned and said, "It’s so hot..."
Thorne’s emerald-green eyes darkened abruptly. His snake tail tightened as he looked down at Evangeline, his voice hoarse and serious. "Eva, your estrus has begun."
On the Beastman Continent, a female’s estrus was far more intense and difficult to endure than a male’s.
A female in estrus would experience a soaring body temperature. If she didn’t find relief in time, her very life could be at risk. This was why a single female often needed several Beast Husbands taking turns to care for her, just to survive the period safely.
Evangeline’s eyes half-lidded as she propped herself up, slowly sitting upright.
The corners of her eyes were tinged with a moist red. With a hint of languor, her fingertips toyed with her half-open collar, revealing a large expanse of snow-white skin. She panted softly, her enchanting voice laced with a slight hoarseness. "So soon?"
The pad of Thorne’s thumb pressed firmly against her feverish cheek. "Your scent has drawn the Wild Beasts," he said in a low voice. "I’ll deal with them first, then take you back. As for The Everwake, I will go find him."
"The Everwake..." Evangeline murmured, her red lips slightly parted.
She watched Thorne slither down the tree. With a slight curl of her finger, she followed the magical tether connecting them and discovered that The Everwake was now even farther from Blackwater Swamp. He was about to escape the tether’s maximum range.
’This is wrong.’
’The Everwake has an Imprisonment Spell on him and can’t summon The Swarm. How could he be moving so fast?’
’He can’t possibly break the Imprisonment Spell unless someone is helping him.’
She had placed this magical tether on The Everwake precisely because she knew he was restless and always trying to run. The Contract Mark’s tracking was too vague, only providing a general direction, not the pinpoint accuracy of the tether.
But now, it seemed even this tether was about to fail to hold him.
Evangeline pushed herself up against the tree trunk, her legs feeling a little weak.
She looked down from the tree. Thorne’s powerful serpentine body was brutally crushing the bones of the Wild Beasts. Blood spattered into his eyes, which roiled with unabated killing intent.
"Thorne, something’s wrong with The Everwake. I have to find him as soon as possible."
"Go back and tell Caden Albright and the others. I’ll be back in less than two days!"
Her fingertips dug deep into her palm. With a light tap of her toes, she shot forward like an arrow loosed from its string.
Thorne was a Snake Beastman; his movement couldn’t compare to her own swiftness when she traveled alone. She had to intercept The Everwake now. If he escaped into The Abyss, finding him would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.
Most importantly, if the Imprisonment Spell on The Everwake wasn’t removed, he would truly be at the mercy of others.
’His mission isn’t finished yet. He’s not going to get himself killed because of my Imprisonment Spell, is he?’
"Eva!" Thorne flung aside the mangled corpses of the Wild Beasts, only for more frenzied ones to lunge at him.
His emerald-green eyes filled with cold ferocity. He had no choice but to turn and fight, his snake tail sweeping out in a storm of blood and gore.
*
Evangeline chanted the mantra of the "Heart Clarity Spell" over and over, managing to suppress the surging tide of passion within her.
The searing heat brought on by a female’s estrus coursed through her meridians. It was truly hard to bear. No wonder the original owner of this body had been so muddled she ended up sleeping with The Everwake.
Another year, another estrus.
By the time Evangeline reached The Everwake’s location, twilight had fallen. It was already the evening of the next day.
Her slender fingers sank deep into the rough tree bark. The tide of passion churned within her. Every heartbeat seemed to drive the scalding blood faster through her veins, burning her rationality to ashes inch by inch.
She took a deep breath, and the fragmented words of the "Heart Clarity Spell" spilled from her red lips once more.
This estrus of the females on the Beastman Continent was truly terrifying. It was even more potent than the most domineering techniques of the Ambrosial Sect from the Immortal Cultivation Realm. The heat seeping from the depths of her marrow felt soul-crushing and bone-melting.
As far as her eyes could see, a towering ancient tree rose from the ground. Its trunk was massive, its bark etched with the ravines of a thousand years. It would likely take dozens of adult males linking hands to encircle it.
This was a true behemoth of a tree.
Higher up, countless nests woven from vines were packed densely among the branches.
Evangeline’s brow furrowed tightly, a red flush rising in her narrow, fox-like eyes.
She stared at the enormous nests and had a sudden realization. The Avian Clan Beastmen had always preyed on The Swarm. ’Have they discovered The Everwake’s identity as one of The Swarm, imprisoned him, and are now planning to eat him?’
In the instant Evangeline’s nerves tensed, points of fluorescent light suddenly appeared on the giant tree.
Immediately after, a chorus of chirps rang out, twittering like a melody rather than the calls of ordinary birds.
Evangeline looked up to see members of the Avian Clan standing on the ancient tree’s branches. They were dancing gracefully to the bird-like music, their Feather Wings spread in a dazzling display.
The pouring rain didn’t seem to bother them in the slightest. It was like a grand banquet.
Suddenly, Evangeline’s beautiful eyes narrowed. She saw The Everwake.
In front of the highest nest, The Everwake was bound by vines and suspended in mid-air, like a prisoner.
His clothes were rumpled and disheveled, and his ink-black hair trailed toward the ground. On his pale cheeks, the demonic butterfly markings shimmered with a dark light. Ferocity swirled in his magnificent, iridescent compound eyes, making him resemble a butterfly made all the more brilliant by the storm.
"Get away—"
The Everwake’s voice was steeped in humiliation and rage, his feral face filled with viciousness.
An effeminate yet chilling voice suddenly spoke up. "Quiet down. If our leader hadn’t taken a fancy to you, you would have long been devoured by our Iridian Clan. A lowly member of The Swarm, and you still dare to resist?"
On a thick branch, a slender male stepped forward.
His body was covered in magnificent feathers. Staring at The Everwake, he suddenly let out a sharp, avian shriek.
A moment later, two females slowly emerged from the giant nest woven of vines.
One had skin as white as snow and an impossibly supple waist, as if she might melt away with the slightest touch.
The moment he saw her, the slender male’s eyes filled with tenderness, revealing their relationship was anything but ordinary.
The other female, who walked half a step behind, was utterly plain in comparison. Although she was adorned with colorful feathers, her grayish-brown hair and amber eyes were unremarkable, almost drab.
However, as she appeared, the rhythm of the Beastmen dancing to the music changed.
When the plain female saw The Everwake, her amber eyes filled with obsession. Belying her appearance, her voice was as soft and enchanting as an oriole’s song, and utterly captivating.
"What a beautiful male..."
"Don’t you worry. Once you complete the Contract with me, I will be very good to you."
As she spoke, her neck bent back at an unnatural angle, revealing the dense gray feathers beneath her collar. A pair of dull, small wings unfurled, and she let out a series of excited, avian trills.
The Everwake suddenly let out a low laugh, his stark white teeth grinding together. "You think you’re worthy?"
Penna’s expression turned ugly as she stared coldly at The Everwake.
"Penna, Sister, why waste your breath on him? He’s just a male. Force the Contract, and you won’t have to worry about him being disobedient later," the jade-boned female said with a light laugh, raising a hand to pat Penna’s arm.
"The Beastman mating season is almost here. When the time comes, he’ll be begging you, Sister."
"At that point, won’t it be much more amusing for you to just watch him coldly, Sister?"
Hearing this, Penna’s drab gray wings trembled. She chuckled. "Saskia, my dear Sister, you’re right."
Penna suddenly seized The Everwake’s jaw, forcing his head up. The butterfly markings on his cheeks flickered.
Her amber eyes stared intently at The Everwake as the tip of her wing brushed against his sensitive waist. "I’ve never seen a member of The Swarm in estrus before. I’m quite curious to see just how tough you can be!"
