Vol 2 – Chapter 13: Lunch with the Council
Translated by XianPiete
Sir Charles de évreux was sitting at a table with what could only be described as a gathering of Gods and Goddesses. He had no idea that such people were walking on the face of the planet. Every single person at the table looked like the most beautiful person in the world. The men as well as the women. Even the old man laughing by his ear was incredibly handsome. He passed a bottle to Sir évreux and said, "Drink this, it'll put hair on your chest."
Claude who was sitting next to him shook his head and said, "He's not serious, it's just a potion that gives you vitality."
Sir évreux looked unsure but the incredibly beautiful ladies cheering him on, broke down his willpower so he uncorked the bottle and downed it. A few minutes later he felt like a new man. Just as Claude had advised him, he felt strong and vital. What he didn't know was that his already handsome features blossomed into the realm of otherworldly like the others at the table.
Aside from Claude, everyone at the table kept talking to him like they knew him intimately. Things he had never shared with other people they just knew. He felt as if he were surrounded by people playing an incredibly elaborate joke on him. If not for Claude sitting next to him, he might have felt like he was going crazy. Prince Wolter von Plettenberg spoke up and asked, "So, Sir Charles de évreux, are you the young knight that won honors at the battle of Stadt der Idioten?" f𝙧𝒆𝚎𝑤e𝚋𝓷o𝘷𝗲l.c𝐨m
He smiled and nodded, "Yes, your Highness, I was surrounded by an entire troop of your soldiers, and my men and I managed to keep them at bay until our reinforcements arrived."
Wolter nodded and said, "You fought with honor and bravery. Even my general was impressed by you and your men." He raised his glass in a toast to Sir évreux.
Charles raised his own and said, "Your men are the greatest soldiers in the world, being able to win that battle was only by luck."
Wolter and Charles each drank their glass dry. Claude smiled and said, "I think that's the first time I have ever seen his Highness do that. You are an amazing man, Sir évreux."
Alicia who was hanging on to Wolter said, "Claude, we are going to be teaching Charles too, so the three of you will be spending some time together with us learning Magic."
Claude said, "Oh hey, congratulations Sir évreux, you'll love this. I don't know if they have shown you yet, but you are about to enter a whole new world you never knew existed. If you thought to be a knight was impressive, wait until you get to try Magery."
Charles looked at Claude and asked, "Magic? You mean, like the fairy tales about Wizards?"
Claude grinned and said, "Exactly. There are no Wizards anymore, but the table you are sitting at right now represents the most powerful people in the known world. Each and every one of us is a person capable of using Magic just like the old Wizards." He grabbed Charles's hand in a firm handshake and said, "You Sir, are now one of us."

Olivier arrived shortly after lunch had been underway and said, "I am pooped. I think I may have gained a few levels today though. I had to deal with that army on the border of El Pais De Lotharios to show my brother Albert not to ignore me." He looked over and saw Sir évreux sitting with the group and said, "Charles, great to see you again my good man. Oh, sorry I almost forgot, you don't remember me. Olivier de la Marche, third Prince of Pays Des Abrutis. I go by Olivier de Girard here though, so shhhh." He pressed a finger to his lips before he laughed.
Wolter smirked and then pounded his fist against the table and coldly stated, "Those men all had families you know. You shouldn't be so cavalier about taking their lives."
Olivier nodded and sobered up before replying, "You're right, Wolter, my apologies, I feel like this great power sometimes makes it hard to remember that I have just changed the lives of so many people with a couple of words. Similar to giving orders to men you don't have to watch going off to war."
Doreen interrupted by clearing her throat and then asked, "What did they think of that idea?"
Olivier shrugged and said, "On the surface, I think they are both behind it, but you never can tell with Albert. He has a hard time being honest. Andre is as easy to read as a book, he only thinks about women and wine."
Wolter laughed and nodded at Olivier's words, "That's true, you promise your brother women and he practically gives away your country."
Olivier laughed and shrugged, "My family isn't the greatest, but they are all I have, Wolter."
Guy frowned and said, "You know, I never said I wanted to be King."
Madeline clapped and said, "I want to be Queen!"
Guy looked at her and said, "You wouldn't be able to fly then."
Madeline smiled and said, "I could go on diplomatic missions all over the world."
Guy frowned and said, "While I stay home and watch the country and our children?"
"Exactly!" Madeline beamed. 𝒇𝑟e𝙚𝑤𝙚𝐛𝗻𝐨ν𝚎𝘭.c𝐨m
Alicia chuckled and said, "Maddy, you are crazy. You'll never have time when you are Queen, you'll be too busy handling social matters and dealing with the men who are afraid to talk to your husband."
Madeline stuck her tongue out at Alicia and said, "I'll be the Queen in the air, they won't have ladders tall enough to come to bother me."
Wolter looked at Madeline and smiled at her he swirled his drink around in his glass and then said in a very smooth tone, "You know, I think being an Empress would suit you more."
Guy and Alicia both yelled at the same time, "No, she'll be a Queen!"
Sir évreux leaned close to Claude and asked, "Are you sure they meant to invite us? I feel like we are in the wrong room right now. We are dining with Princes and discussing who will be the next King of our country like picking sides in a kid's game of knights and bandits."
Claude laughed loud and replied, "Sir évreux, it gets much weirder from here, just go with it and count your blessings that you have been chosen, either by luck or by fate. This is all real and more impressive than you can ever imagine."
