"It looks like Vivian has become quite an exceptional maid now."

"Yeah, she does so many things perfectly, saving us a lot of trouble."

"When Vivian was at the Dihua household, we never had to worry about housework at all. She handled everything and even helped me resolve a lot of issues."

"Like when you had us investigate the Loraviel family and when I was searching for that Court Davennas—you had her assist with those as well."

"It seems she’s much more than just a maid."

"Yes, she also protects me in many ways."

"Although Liana still wasn’t sure exactly how Vivian was protecting Mepeilu, she would soon find out."

"It feels like we’ve been soaking for quite a while."

"Soaking in the hot spring, with Mepeilu once again playing with her ear cuffs, they really had been in here for too long. Liana’s skin had turned a soft pink, and her head felt slightly lightheaded."

"Yeah, we’ve been talking for quite a while."

Mepeilu loosened the arms she had wrapped around Liana.

Liana did seem to have overdone it. Right in front of Mepeilu, she unwrapped the towel around her body and changed into her nightwear.

"You've grown a little," Mepeilu murmured softly.

"What?"

"Nothing. Just wait outside for me."

"Alright."

After stepping out of the bathroom, Liana took a deep breath, feeling much better. It seemed they really had stayed in the hot spring too long. The enclosed space and the heat made her feel slightly dizzy.

As Liana was about to pick up the hairdryer, Mepeilu’s hand lightly rested on hers. "Let me do it. It’s easier if we dry each other’s hair, don’t you think?"

"Mm."

Liana didn’t refuse and sat in front of the mirror.

"Usually, does Vivian help you with this?" Liana asked.

"No, usually Minoja does," Mepeilu replied.

"I thought, as her older sister, Vivian would be the one to help."

"Not really. She always insists she interacts with me as a maid. But I personally feel like she sees me as a little sister. And, well, that does seem to be the case."

"I see."

The warm air from the dryer blew over Mepeilu’s hair. It went relatively smoothly today. There were still a few times when their hair got tugged, but compared to yesterday, Liana had improved significantly. Mepeilu, however, was completely different—her technique and skill were leagues ahead of Liana’s, and she finished in far less time.

When they sat at the dining table, the dinner was just as lavish as before. However, there were more of Liana’s favorite dishes compared to yesterday. It seemed that Vivian had used the leftovers from the previous meal to figure out what Liana preferred.

The portion sizes were also noticeably smaller. Since there were only two of them eating today, making as much food as before would have been too wasteful.

"Liana, your hands are shaking," Mepeilu remarked.

Liana’s hand, holding the fork, was trembling slightly. "Could it be that today—"

"Did you overtrain?"

"No way! This level is nothing for me!"

Liana pressed down on her trembling right hand with her left. "It’s probably just from soaking too long."

"It’s definitely not from pulling the bow too much. My body isn’t that weak."

"Don’t push yourself too hard," Mepeilu said.

"I know my own body better than anyone!"

Mepeilu knew very well that people who said things like that often didn’t know their own limits.

"Well, we’ll see tomorrow. No matter how much you act tough, your body won’t lie."

"Tomorrow, I have to wake up early to go somewhere," Mepeilu said.

"Then it wouldn’t be realistic to ask for an update, would it?" Liana understood.

"I’ll finish up as quickly as I can and return. Of course, in the meantime, you can go shopping if you want," Mepeilu said. "I’ll find you."

For someone like Mepeilu, who rarely left her home, it was almost impossible to imagine her leisurely strolling through the streets.

"You have a dedicated space for magic training here, right?"

"Of course. That’s a basic necessity for the Divine Shaman clan’s residence."

"To avoid disturbing others, the training grounds are located underground. If you want to go, just have Vivian take you."

"To avoid disturbing others, huh?" Mepeilu’s residence wasn’t even near any other people, but this arrangement was convenient. If anything unexpected happened, at least there wouldn’t be any unwanted witnesses.

"Mm." Mepeilu pointed to a magic stone on the table. "Place your hand on it. Vivian will know I need her, and she’ll come immediately."

"Got it."

"Don’t worry, I’ve already instructed her to keep everything about you confidential—just like she does for me."

"You’ve told her that I can use magic?" Liana asked.

"No, no!" Mepeilu quickly shook her head, realizing how easily her wording could be misinterpreted. "I just told her to keep everything about you secret, just like she does for me."

"I won’t reveal anything about you to anyone without your consent—I promise."

"Oh my, how touching. I didn’t even say anything about that. Besides, even if you did tell Vivian, it wouldn’t really matter. After all, I know you wouldn’t harm me. If you told her, that would just mean you trust her completely," Liana said with a smile.

Liana stretched her arms and stood up. "It’s getting late. I’m heading to my room."

"Alright."

Liana picked up a magic book from the table—it was one Minoja had given her earlier, detailing various creation magic techniques.

Creation-type magic was the easiest to understand when it came to spell incantations. One part of the spell was fixed, while the other depended entirely on what the caster wanted to create.

Liana lay on her bed, kicking off her slippers. She swung her legs back and forth as she flipped through the pages of the magic book.

"Click."

The door opened again. Mepeilu entered, holding two cups of hot milk. She then closed the door behind her.

Mepeilu set down the cups, placing one on the desk and the other on the nightstand beside Liana’s bed. "I left some hot milk here for you."

"Alright."

Mepeilu moved behind Liana. Because Liana was swinging her legs back and forth, the hem of her skirt had slipped slightly, resting on her thighs. From behind, Mepeilu could see the pure white undergarment Liana was wearing underneath.

No, she couldn’t keep looking! She had to stop Liana!

Liana didn’t seem to realize just how serious this situation was!

Mepeilu tugged down Liana’s nightrobe slightly. "Liana, be careful! You're still wearing a skirt! You're going to expose yourself like that!"

"Oh~" Liana sat up and patted her backside. "I’m always careful when I’m outside. It’s only in my room that I relax like this."

"Oh, is that so? Good thing—good thing, my ass! Isn't Loraviel still in your room?" Mepeilu exclaimed.

"Hmm... I guess so." Liana nodded, though she didn’t seem to mind much. After all, they had already bathed together before. They had seen everything there was to see, so catching a glimpse of underwear hardly seemed like anything worth fussing over.

"I’ll pay more attention next time." But Liana wasn’t the type to say anything unless she experienced it firsthand—otherwise, she’d never hear the end of Mepeilu’s nagging.

Loraviel: "Stop saying such things! Don’t ruin my chance to keep enjoying the view!"

"Seeing everything all at once takes away some of the thrill. The real delight is when just a little is revealed—it’s more enticing that way."

Liana sat against the bed. Just a moment ago, she had been lying down, completely occupying the space, leaving no room for Mepeilu.

"Not tonight, Mepeilu."

"I still have some matters to take care of, so I won’t be sleeping just yet," Mepeilu said.

"It seems that even during the festival, you can’t take a break. This must be as relaxed as you get."

"Yeah." Liana nodded. "Then I’ll warm up the bed for you. That way, when you get in, it’ll be nice and cozy."

Liana never expected that ★ 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 ★ one day, she’d be the one warming someone else's bed. Normally, that was Loraviel’s job.

What she couldn’t imagine even more was just how many times she’d be doing this in the future.

Hearing Liana’s words, Mepeilu really wanted to jump straight into bed, but she still had work to do.

"Do you usually have Loraviel do this for you?" Mepeilu asked.

"..."

"You always say Liana is bad at conversation, but you’re no better!"

"Ahem, I suppose so."

"It’s also a way to protect her. Honestly, I wouldn’t feel safe letting her sleep alone in her own room," Liana explained. "Considering that someone actually dared to drug me, leaving Loraviel alone at night would feel too dangerous."

"So I had no choice. Usually, I let her stay in bed first—not really to warm it up, but so she falls asleep before me. That way, she won’t sneak off somewhere."

"That makes sense."

Mepeilu pulled open the desk drawer. Inside was a stack of documents, secured with magic that could only be undone with her fingerprint. After all, these were important files from the Strat Kingdom. If anyone other than Mepeilu tried to unlock them, they would be automatically destroyed.

Mepeilu steadied herself with her left hand on the desk while flipping through the documents with her right. Today’s efforts had gained her some support, but it was still far from enough.

"Whether it's the First Prince or the Second Prince, neither of them is someone I can fully rely on."

Time ticked away, and soon it was nearing eleven at night. It wasn’t too late yet, but since Mepeilu had to wake up early for an important matter in the morning, it was best to rest soon.

At that moment, a pair of hands gently pressed down on Mepeilu’s shoulders.

"You’ve worked hard, Mepeilu."

"You’re still awake?"

"How could I sleep peacefully while you're still working so hard?"

Liana softly massaged Mepeilu’s shoulders. "You’ve been at it for so long. You should take a little break. You have things to take care of in the morning, don’t you?"

"Yeah, I know." Mepeilu placed her hand over Liana’s. Why did this feel so much like an old married couple?

"The bed is already nice and warm for you. You can get in anytime."

"Alright." Her tired body suddenly felt reenergized at the sound of Liana’s gentle voice.

After washing up, Mepeilu crawled into Liana’s bed, pulling the blanket over her head.

"Well? Is it nice and warm?" Liana asked.

"Mm. It’s really warm, and it smells like you."

"The weather is starting to get colder."

"It is. It’s already November. Before long, it’ll start snowing." Liana had never seen snow before. She wasn’t sure if the snow in this world would be any different from the snow back on Blue Star.

"You were reading that magic book earlier. Did you find anything interesting?" Mepeilu asked.

"Mm, I won’t know for sure until I test it out."

"Some spells clearly describe their effects and power, but the incantations themselves... You have to learn them from someone else. Just reading them doesn’t make them any easier to understand."

"Even if someone hands you a powerful spell, if you can’t read or comprehend it, and no one teaches you how to use it, it’s nothing more than a string of meaningless words."

"True. Even after all these years, no one has been able to decipher those texts."

"But maybe... Liana might be the one who can?" Mepeilu mused.

"Don’t expect too much from me. Rather than hoping for that, you should just focus on getting some sleep." Liana yawned.

"Who is Zhou Gang?"

"Goodnight," Liana said, completely ignoring the question and closing her eyes.

"Mm, goodnight." Mepeilu shut her eyes, and after confirming that Liana had fallen asleep, she reached out and wrapped her arms around her.

...

At five in the morning, Mepeilu woke up. She glanced at Liana, who was still fast asleep, and felt a deep sense of satisfaction.

If life could continue like this, it wouldn’t be so bad.

But a voice from outside the room interrupted her thoughts.

"Princess."

"I know." Mepeilu had already dressed. Before leaving, she leaned down and lightly tapped Liana’s forehead. "I’ll be back soon."

Locking the door behind her, Mepeilu found that Vivian had already prepared breakfast.

"Princess, will you be back by noon?" Vivian asked.

"I’ll likely be gone until evening. Today... just take good care of Liana. She might be a bit of a handful."

"I understand," Vivian nodded. "Then, Your Highness, please have your breakfast first. I’ll tidy up the training room in the meantime, and I’ll come back later to clean up."

Mepeilu had already given Vivian instructions about the bed linens and the training grounds.

"Alright, let’s go," she said.

"Mm." Minoja raised her hand slightly, and the lock on Mepeilu’s bedroom door automatically released.
