The Villain's Apocalypse-Chapter 20: Planned Execution
Chapter 20: Planned Execution
Chapter 20: Planned Execution
Cassian slowly lifted his right hand and pointed his finger towards the golem's broken face. A minuscule spark of thunder leaked out from the finger's tip and coiled around the golem's body.
It crawled through its chest and approached its neck area. Reaching the destination, it zapped the nape of its neck like a snake bite.
"..."
Suddenly, A violent reaction took place from within the golem's body. It shuddered uncontrollably and dropped down, its knees touching the ground. Spiderweb-like cracks spread throughout the core and it shattered down like glass.
The murals covering the golem's body froze down and dimmed themselves, vanishing with the core's broken pieces.
Cassian broken body leaned on the rock's debris as a support and his eyes landed on the Golem's half-kneeling body.
"Haha..." A soft laughter resounded within the area, followed by violent coughing.
He hurriedly took out a healing potion and gulped it down, feeling the refreshing energy coursing through his veins.
"I might be reckless but don't underestimate me. I always assume the worst possibility and plan it out accordingly." He replied, breathing a sigh of relief.
—
Right when Cassian's sword had landed on the golem's head, The tiny gem etched on his sword's tip detached itself and landed on its neck, sticking it tightly. The gem was in fact an explosive artifact and its ignition condition was quite simple.
If even a speck of mana was in contact with the gem's surface, then it would detonate itself instantly.
In case of any failure, Cassian had planned to stick the gem on the golem's back and blast the whole thing apart. You might ask, why didn't you use it before?
Well...This damn thing costs a hell lot of money, even for himself. Just that one tiny gem was worth all the artifacts he'd used so far and even more.
Why? It's because the materials required to create that thing was incredibly rare and found in extremely dangerous places.
Anyway, his thunder spark acted as the detonator, and boom, the rest is history.
—
The golem slowly crumbled apart, turning into literal dus,t and vanished alongside the wind, never to be seen again.
"I hope my decision was worth it," Cassian muttered, running his hand through his golden hair. He had changed his outfit into a more flexible one since the previous one was all bloodied and broken apart thanks to the golem's punch.
Standing atop a boulder, his sun-like eyes shone brightly under the sunlight, reflecting the massive sandstorm swirling before him. The sandstorm was even fiercer than before, devouring everything on its path.
"That golem...was it a guardian?" A sudden thought crossed his mind, leading him to some deep contemplation.
A random golem appearing out of nowhere was extremely skeptical, especially if you considered its strength.
"Maybe it was guarding a treasure, and that treasure is possibly inside the eye of the storm, my destination. Maybe I'm overthinking too much but a golem popping out from nowhere was definitely suspicious." Nodding his head, he firmed his resolve.
"You've made me curious now." He grinned, a cunning smile stretching on his face.
Lifting his body up, he lightly stretched his muscles and observed his battle injuries.
They were healing pretty quickly. The injuries around his skin and muscles were nearly healed and the internal injuries were also beyond the critical zone.
An advanced healing potion was truly magical, deserving its reputation for being capable of healing a person in a near-death state.
"I should rest for a while. Overworking my body is the last thing I want in this desolate area." He created a small shelter using the broken debris of the boulders as walls and pillars. Stacking the rocks with each other, a simple stone house was built on the rough desert.
crunch
gulp
"Mmm...This is good. I should ask Uncle Armes to pack more of these." With a dry jerky in one hand and a bottle of water in the other, he filled up his empty stomach and rinsed his dry throat.
The sun wasn't forgiving in this place. It was extremely hot, and heat waves were flowing everywhere. Despite wearing heat-resistant clothes, he could still feel the heat reflecting from the desert.
yawn~
After finishing his lunch, he let out a long yawn as his eyes became slightly drowsy. The battle with the golem was quite tiring; after a proper lunch, his body was screaming for some rest.
"Now I feel all sleepy now." Scratching his head thoughtfully, he turned toward his shadow and commanded, "Hey Leon,"
swish
His shadow swirled around and Leon slowly rose up from within the shadows. With his usual indifferent face, he opened his eyes and lifted his head up, feeling the heat prickling his skin, he turned around and gazed at the desert curiously.
"Guard the entrance for a while. I will take a quick nap." Cassian ordered, leaning his back on the stone pillar. There wasn't something like a camping sleep bag in this world so he had to do it traditionally.
"notify me if you sense anything unusual." With those words, he folded his arms around his chest, rested his head on the pillar, and closed his eyes.
Although he had Leon to guard him, his paranoid mind couldn't be satisfied with just a single arrangement. Before lying down, he had placed some sensory artifacts around him. They perfectly circled around him, leaving no blind spots for any sneak attacks.
It's quite satisfying to be rich. [A.N: Not relatable]
fuu
Releasing the built-up tension within his mind, He slowly closed his eyes, leaned his head back on the pillar, and lost himself in the dreamlands...
—
cas...
cass...
cassian...
A soft whisper resounded near his ears, causing them to twitch slightly. He furrowed his brows, sensing a familiarity in the tone—a gentle yet melodious voice that reminded him of someone.
"Who?" He questioned, his eyes still closed. His mind dug deep within his memories, trying to find the owner of the voice.
"Cassian...you're such a loser." The voice was becoming much clearer and more audible. It felt weirdly serene yet scary at the same time, like a gentle lullaby sung by the siren of the seas—terrifying creatures with otherworldly powers.
Suddenly, memories of Cassian's past flashed through his mind, reminding him of the source of the familiarity.
He saw a beautiful girl, around ten years old, with luscious pink hair cascading down her shoulders, emerald-like green eyes shining brightly under the sunlight, and a massive grin plastered across her otherworldly face.
"What?" she asked, laughter laced in her voice. "Never seen a beautiful girl before?" She planted her hands on her waist, striking a confident pose.
Cassian sighed, shifting slightly but making no effort to get up. "Anna," he muttered, unimpressed, "you itching for a beating again?"
Anna gasped dramatically, placing a hand over her chest. "You wouldn't dare hit a lady, would you? How ruthless."
Cassian's brow twitched. "Drop the act. I can see that smirk on your face."
Anna chuckled, unbothered. "Fine, fine. I just came to see you."
"What do you want?"
She grinned wider. "You."

Cassian blinked.
"I want to play with you," she clarified.
"No."
Anna's smile faltered. "W-what? But why? Aren't I beautiful enough?" She twirled a lock of her hair, as if re-evaluating her own appearance.
Cassian let out a slow exhale. "You are."
"Then?"
A flicker of amusement crossed his golden eyes as he propped himself up on one elbow. "You know, Anna," he mused, his tone turning eerily calm, "there was once a cat just like you—mischievous and far too proud of her beauty."
Anna tilted her head, intrigued. "Oh?"
"She was elegant, majestic—the kind of creature that turned heads wherever she went. Everyone wanted her. Adored her. And do you know what happened to her?"
Anna leaned in slightly, her eyes gleaming with curiosity. "What?"
Cassian's face inched closer to hers, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Some people became greedy. They kidnapped her, skinned her alive, and sold her beautiful fur to the rich ladies of the town."
A pause.
The air around them stilled, the playful warmth from earlier replaced by something colder.
Anna blinked once, then twice, processing his words.
