The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband-Chapter 575: Shadow of the past
The live-action remake was pretty good. Abrielle would have loved it if she didn’t live in its reality. The male lead author was handsome, and the villain, aka Cedric, had a hideous scar on his face.
Cedric had a lot of complaints about the plots and his character but he also found it hilarious that he was that obsessed with Callista.
Because of the mask he was wearing, a lot of people assumed he was a celebrity..
They were walking hand in hand through the night, the movie was longer than Abrielle thought and by now Hazel’s memorial was almost over.
"Why do I have a scar?" Cedric asked Abrielle who was all smiles. "You had it during your first war .." she said
He sighed, the book was different. After a short walk, they arrived at the location. Abrielle loved the fact that they were enjoying this moment together
It was just two of them. The hall was filled, and they managed to slip in towards the end, sitting at the back. Tricia unexpectedly noticed them and smiled in their way before she turned back to Hazel’s weeping mother.
The memorial service was an emotional event. Abrielle sat at the back listening to all the tributes.
In the front, she could spot a familiar blonde, her best friend Kimberly, trying to coax her weeping mother.
Cedric watched Abrielle curiously. He could already deduce she had two siblings, her mother, Tricia and a boy, Maxwell, who was the youngest. Hazel was the eldest child.
There was no father. "What about your father?" He whispered into Abrielle’s ear. Her eyes stung and she bowed her head. "Dad passed on a few years ago before I started writing...."
"After his death, we were going through financial troubles, and luckily, I discovered online publishing websites, so I started writing and got lucky." She explained in a few words. Cedric nodded.
Her hands were clenched on her thighs. This was meant to be her goodbye but it felt so hard. She could not watch. Memories she thought would be buried in this life started flashing back as she listened to the tributes.
It felt like the walls were caving in on her.
Abrielle stood up, then ran out of the hall. Cedric sighed and followed after her but she was gone. He searched around the building and there was no sign of Abrielle. Not even on the busy road.
His hands clenched, he heightened his sense trying to find her. His nose caught her scent in the wind and he started to follow it.
Cedric followed her scent to a nearby graveyard. It was dark, the trees lining the road looked eerie, and in the darkness, he heard her voice. He ran towards the tombstone.
Abrielle was kneeling on the grass crying before a tombstone covered with flowers. His eyes fell on the name on the tombstone
Hazel. S. Walter from 2003 - 2023, It was her tombstone. He didn’t know how to comfort her in this situation. He could only squat beside her and pull her into his arms.
His warmth made her cry more; the saddest thing about death was that time would not pause for you. She was glad they were doing fine but there was this ache in her heart.
Her wish was fulfilled. She saw her mother and family one last time. The roaring engine of the bike drew Abrielle’s attention. She glanced over Cedric’s shoulder to realise someone was driving into the graveyard.
It was strange to see someone here at night. "I’m fine." She said as she broke from his embrace, wiping her tears. Abrielle gave the tombstone one last look before she turned to leave Cedric following behind her.
At the entrance of the road, she walked into the biker, her heart beat slowed when she saw him. "Lucian", she whispered, watching the boy she once loved walk past her.
He didn’t change much, Abrielle was once stunned at the resemblance between her former crush and Cedric’s brother. She wondered if he was a reincarnation. That idea didn’t seem too absurd
Cedric’s gaze lingered on Lucian, their eyes met but he was certain those weren’t his brother’s eyes. Lucian walked up to Hazel’s grave.
Abrielle was standing not too far away pretending she was visiting another grave. He placed the flowers his gaze lingered on the tombstone before he released a shaky breath
"It’s been a year already. It’s funny how you never dared to confess." He said, his voice going shallow..
"Maybe I should have said something first. You thought I never knew but your eyes were obvious." His words made her heart skip a beat. Lucian knew of her crush.
Abrielle swallowed a lump and decided to leave. There was no need to know this now. She didn’t get to hear the last sentence Cedric heard clearly. "We were both fools in love too scared to confess. Hazel Walters, I wonder how you would feel if you knew that I also loved you, or the fact that I knew you were the midnight queen...."
Abrielle was already marching away as memories of all the times she tried to confess flooded her mind. She was so embarrassed.
He always knew. She was lost in her thoughts and didn’t hear the final part. Cedric heard it clearly, his fist clenched as his gaze lingered on her back
He was glad she never confessed to him.
They booked an Uber and arrived at the five-star hotel Abrielle had chosen. Once she got into the room she pulled off her coat and walked to the balcony to watch the night sky
Her mind is processing everything that just happened. She felt Cedric’s presence behind her, he didn’t say anything just stared
"I am glad they are fine." She said knowing he was listening. His arms wrapped around her from behind, his chin resting on her head.
"We still have one more day. What do you plan to do?"
Abrielle smiled. "Let’s spend it together. I have a lot to show you." She answered. Her voice was soothing. Her emotions were now in place. "Whatever you wish, my love." He answered.
