The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 155
Princess Eleanor was silent as she did not know how to react. Why would the Crown Prince be here? The question bugged her mind.
Doctor Raul looked at the Princess as he understood what she was thinking, "Well, it seems like the Crown Prince is worried about the Princess. He had decided to come to the Beaumont mansion to observe if my medicines are really working."
"And how is he going to find that?" Princess Eleanor asked as she blinked her eyes nervously. Something told her that she might not like the answer she will be getting but curiosity got the best of her.
"Well, how can I put it?" Doctor Raul came as he laughed, "He will be bringing the chief healer here and they might stay a few days."
"So the Crown Prince is here to take me away?" Princess Eleanor knew that she had come to the right conclusion. There was nothing else but this that was keeping things interesting.
"Princess, I have brought the water," Nia’s words disturbed them as both Doctor Raul and Princess Eleanor looked at the side. Nia was bringing a huge bucket of water as she blinked her eyes innocently. She had no idea what was going on but she could sense that something was not right.
"Let me help you," Doctor Raul moved forward as he took the bucket of water from Nia’s hand.
Nia was reluctant to leave it but she soon let go once she saw the Princess nodding her head. "Just keep it there," Nia pointed out and Doctor Raul followed.
"I hope the Princess doesn’t mind me looking at you sowing seeds." Doctor Raul smiled as he waited for Princess Eleanor’s response but his eyes clearly suggested that he was not here to take a ’no’ for an answer.
Princess Eleanor understood it very well. She had a feeling that the Grand Duke must have told Doctor Raul to keep an eye on her. After all, the Grand Duke had already caught her in his study without authorization. At the current moment, Princess Eleanor was aware that the situation was not promising.
’If only Sir Kit was here,’ Princess Eleanor thought as she sighed. She knew that she had to sow the seeds today. If the crown Prince was really going to come here then it was better if she was done with her work soon. Who knows if the Grand Duke will send someone to look at the land tomorrow?
"Of course, if Doctor Raul wishes, he can always stay back and observe." Princess Eleanor said as she turned around and started to get busy.
Princess Eleanor knew that the situation was not going to turn around anytime soon. The Princess took the seeds and walked towards the assigned area. She made the land wet with the water and observed Nia doing the same.
Princess Eleanor knew that the situation was tight. They needed to follow the same steps to fool the man standing at the side. "Nia, soak the seeds in water for a few seconds before you plant them." Princess Eleanor murmured once Nia walked towards her.
Nia nodded her head as she followed Princess Eleanor’s words. She knew that she had to follow Princess Eleanor’s direction.
Princess Eleanor on the other side took the seeds in her hands as she poured some water onto them. She made sure that the water stayed on the seeds for a few seconds before she sat down and started to sow them with care.
Doctor Raul looked at the Princess. He could see her lady in waiting to do the same thing. He had never seen people soaking the seeds before sowing them. But what surprised him was the pair of gloves on Princess Eleanor’s hand.
Doctor Raul smiled as his eyes stayed on the Princess’s hand. He could not understand as he said, "I am a little curious Princess,"
Princess Eleanor stopped in her place as she looked at the man before raising her eyebrows in question.
"I thought the Princess liked gardening. Wasn’t it your hobby?" Doctor Raul’s lips curled up as he looked at the Princess,
"It is," Princess Eleanor nodded her head, "What is Doctor Raul trying to get at?"
"Well, what am I trying to get at?" Doctor Raul laughed as his eyes narrowed, "If you loved doing it so much then why would the Princess wear gloves? Isn’t staying connected to the soil joyful to the people who love gardening?"
Princess Eleanor’s breathing hitched but she controlled her expression. Almost all of her seeds were sowed and only a few remained. Eleanor looked down at her gloves, which were covered in mud. She curled her lips up into a smile as she continued doing her work as if she was not affected by Doctor Raul’s question.
"Although I love doing it, I cannot ignore the fact that I am a Princess and have to be mindful of myself. Do you think anyone will marry me if I have rough hands? They will not." Princess Eleanor shook her head as she got up. She was happy to be done with her work as she made her way toward Doctor Raul, "And I am a Princess, I have to be mindful of my image too. Didn’t Doctor Raul just point out that none of the noble ladies have such a hobby? What if they know that I like to get dirty and try to avoid me?"
Doctor Raul looked at Princess Eleanor’s smile as he nodded his head. He could not find any problem with her words. "I should be going then. I will meet the Princess at night when I bring the medicine."
Princess Eleanor nodded her head. She saw Doctor Raul walking away as his eyes narrowed.
Nia, who was done sowing the seeds assigned to her, came back as she stood behind the Princess, "Princess, do you think Doctor Raul will know?"
Princess Eleanor was silent for a few seconds as she nodded her head. "He will be investigating the seeds." Princess Eleanor looked back at Nia as she said, "Get hot water ready. I need to wash my hands soon,"
Nia nodded her head as she and Princess Eleanor started walking toward her room. Nia could not help asking, "But Princess, if you knew that Doctor Raul had his suspicions then why did we sow the seeds today? We could have done it tomorrow or at night..."
"No," Princess Eleanor’s words were sharp as if what she was going to say next held a lot of importance. "The Crown Prince will be here tomorrow. As per why we did not do it at night, well, the guards are not assigned inside the Beaumont mansion, but there is tight security surrounding the mansion. Someone will be able to see us and notify the Grand Duke."
"But Doctor Raul will do the same. You said he might know," Nia was confused. She could not understand what was going into Princess Eleanor’s mind. She felt lost for the first time as she bit her lips nervously, "I am worried Princess. I really am."
Princess Eleanor looked at Nia. She could see that the emotions in Nia’s eyes were real as Princess Eleanor sighed, "Don’t worry. There is a reason I let him stay back and see it."
Nia’s eyes widened but they had already reached Princess Eleanor’s room. Nia shook her head as she opened the door, waiting for the Princess to enter.
"Remember to bring the water Nia, I will be waiting." Princess Eleanor turned around as she smiled, "And don’t worry too much. I know what I am doing."
Nia nodded her head as she closed the door. Princess Eleanor removed her gloves carefully making sure not to touch them. Her eyes darkened as she walked towards the fireplace in the room. She tossed the gloves in them as she lit the fire.
Princess Eleanor’s eyes narrowed as she saw the small bud of fire emerging into a huge flame as he slowly burned the gloves up.
Princess Eleanor did not stay in the place for too long as she walked towards the window, making sure that she did not touch anything. Her eyes looked outside at the blue sky.
’Why did I let Doctor Raul see it?’ Princess Eleanor thought as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, ’I need more people at my side. And I need to get them soon. And even if I have to make rash decisions to accomplish my goals I will do it. There is nothing bad in it. It just contains more risk.’
Princess Eleanor sighed and turned her head as she looked inside the room at the fireplace again, ’I hope Sir Kit comes back soon. I need his advice and his care.’
Princess Eleanor walked towards the fireplace again as she looked at the gloves that were about to turn into ashes as she murmured, "I just hope that my rash decision does not backfire. I hope at the end of the day, it all works out."
