The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 159
The Crown Prince smiled as he stood in front of the Grand Duke’s mansion.
Beaumont mansion was as grand as it could be. Three were times when the Crown Prince was not happy about it. How could a Duke’s mansion be as grand as the Royal palace? It was the second largest building in the Empire, slightly smaller than the Royal Palace.
’Even though they were brothers, the Emperor should not have allowed it,’ Crown Prince Richard’s eyes turned sharp as he curled his lips up. He took a few steps forward as he said to the Grand Duke, "I was hoping to see my future Crown Princess here to greet me."
Duke Christopher was silent as he looked at the crown Prince, but looking at his eager gaze, he couldn’t help but sigh and smile, "The Princess is not yet selected as the Crown Princess. And as for why the Princess is not here, Doctor Raul had asked the Princess to not exert her body and take rest as much as she could. But don’t worry Princess Eleanor will come out to have breakfast with you,"
The Grand Duke turned around and walked inside the mansion as the Crown Prince followed, "Why do I think that you will not be there for breakfast?"
"I will not," The Grand duke nodded his head as he continued, "there is o reason for me to stay here. The Princess is not my responsibility but Doctor Raul’s. She getting the correct treatment by my man is my responsibility. I don’t think there is any reason that I should be here."
Crown Prince Richard looked at the Grand Duke but he could not see any expression at all. His eyes narrowed as he tried to control his laughter. ’So you are trying to hide your feelings?’ crown Prince Richard raised his eyebrows as he thought, ’Or do you truly not care? Did I deduce wrong?’
The Crown Prince took a deep breath, "And where are you planning to go?"
"There have been some cases of thieves in my territory. I need to go and look into them." Duke Christopher said as he looked at the Crown Prince with an innocent expression. "This is important,"
The Crown Prince could not help but laugh, "Are you sure? Isn’t this something that your knights can handle?"
"I wish, But as the owner of the land, this is my responsibility. I hope the Crown Prince understands it," Duke Christopher said as he curled his lips up into a smirk. His opinion was clear. He knew that he did not want to show any weakness to the Crown Prince or to Princess Eleanor.
The Crown Prince’s lips twitched as he looked at the Grand Duke. He understood what the Duke was trying to say. After all, the Crown Prince was the one who usually ignored his work and let his subordinates handle it.
"Will I be able to see Doctor Raul soon?" A small voice said breaking the awkward environment. "I really would like to understand how Doctor Raul was able to decode the cure for the poison."
Duke Christopher smiled as he looked at the chief healer. His eyes narrowed as he observed the man. His aura was so small that they had even forgotten his presence.
"After breakfast, you might be able to meet Doctor Raul. He will be there in the dining hall along with the Princess." The Grand Duke said as he looked at the chief healer. The man was trembling slightly as his eyes were red as if he had suffered a lot.
The chief healer nodded his head as his heart was beating faster. He was here on a mission and he needed to complete it if he had to survive.
"If you do not find how Doctor Raul was able to treat the Princess, I don’t think we will need the chief healer here." Priest Erasmus’s voice was still ringing in his ears as he could see the evilness in the man’s eyes.
Priest Erasmus was supposed to be the man who could heal everything and the ray of hope to all but he knew that the man who claimed to be loved by God was not actually the one with a pure heart.
"I hope that I will be able to meet Doctor Raul," The chief healer murmured as he thought, ’and learn how he cured the Princess,’
The Crown Prince looked at the chief healer as he sneered in irritation. The man’s thoughts were written on his face. He could not even hide it in front of everyone.
The Grand Duke smiled as he observed the Crown Prince’s and the chief healer’s expressions. He knew that he had to be careful when the two were here. ’I wonder how long I can pull this off. But if my deduction is right, Princess Eleanor will leave the Beaumont’s mansion by the end of the week.’
The thought left a bad taste in Duke Christopher’s mouth. His eyes darkened as he made his move towards his study room. He needed to pretend to leave the Mansion soon.
—-----
"Princess," Nia said as she combed Princess Eleanor’s hair, "Are you sure that you will be able to eat breakfast?"
Princess Eleanor smiled as she nodded her head. Her eyes looked at her lady in waiting as she nodded, "Yes, Doctor Raul has already given me the anti-dote."
Nia was silent. It was in the morning that the Princess had informed her that Doctor Raul knew about the flowers and the poison, "Princess are you sure that it will not backfire, after all, Doctor Raul is not someone who is loyal to you, so. ...."
"Nia," Princess Eleanor looked at Nia through the mirror as she narrowed her gaze, "Sir Kit trust’s him and I have decided to take the chance."
Nia nodded her head as she looked down. She knew that she had no right to question the Princess on her decision but Nia also knew that she had to be supportive of the princess. There must be some reason behind the Princess’s decision.
"Nia, did you send the letter to Duke Flix?" Princess Eleanor turned around as she looked at Nia.
"Yes, Sir kit had already been delivered it. We will be receiving the response soon." Nia nodded her head and hurriedly explained but the Princess’s face was not relieved. There was still stiffness in her expression.
"I think we will only receive a reply when we reach the Royal Palace. Do you really think that he wrote to the crown Prince and that is the reason why he is here?" Princess Eleanor asked as she blinked her eyes.
Nia was confused. She knew that even if it was true, they were in no position to know the truth, "It can be or it might not be. I am not sure how to answer the Princess."
Princess Eleanor smiled, "But I know." Princess Eleanor’s smile did not fade. "I think there is a reason why the Crown Prince is here."
Before Princess Eleanor could say anything there was a knock on the door. Princess Eleanor was silent as she raised her eyebrows and looked at Nia.
Nia swallowed hard as she nodded her head. Her heartbeats were running fast as she took a deep breath and walked towards the door. "Who is it?"
Nia thought that it must be the Crown Prince or one of the knights who were here to ask the Princess to present herself. The thought made Ni’a face burn in rage, but the voice that came was unusual. "It is me, Doctor Raul."
Princess Eleanor was silent but soon she said, in a soft tone, "Nia opened the door." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Doctor Raul saw the door open slowly as he looked inside only to see Princess Eleanor’s lady in waiting standing there.
No one spoke anything until Doctor Raul sighed as he said, "Won’t you let me enter?"
It was only then that Nia came back to reality. She was a little frightened as she moved aside, giving the man some space to enter the room.
"Doctor Raul," Princess Eleanor said as she got up. Her steps were soft as she was in character. She knew that she had to pretend to not be fully healed at the moment. Who knows what the Crown Prince will demand if he knew that the Princess could walk? Maybe he will ask her to shift to the Royal Palace soon.
"The Crown Prince is here," Doctor Raul said as he observed Princess Eleanor’s dull expression. He wanted to give applause to the Princess for her acting skills. It was very professional as if she had done and practiced it a lot. "We should get going soon."
Princess Eleanor nodded her head, but she stopped in her steps as she bit her lips, "The Grand Duke?"
"He is not in the mansion, He has some urgent matter to attend to." Doctor Raul smiled as he looked at Princess Eleanor, "We should not keep the Crown Prince waiting."
Doctor Raul extended his hand as Princess Eleanor was a little hesitant before she held onto his hand and smiled in confidence, "Yes, we cannot keep him waiting."
