The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 161
Princess Eleanor was silent as she blinked her eyes and followed after the Crown Prince. She knew that she was in no position to question the man. It was clear that he wanted to avoid the question and Princess Eleanor was intelligent enough to take a step back when needed.
"Is this the garden?" The Crown Prince said with a smile on his face. He was about to laugh out loud. The things he was seeing were tall trees and shrubs as well as vegetables at the end. "This is a joke. What is his gardener doing?"
"I think this is practical." Princess Eleanor said in a small voice as she looked at the Crown Prince, "I heard the head maid say that the Grand Duke does not like to hold tea parties and they need vegetables anyway. I had heard rumors that the Grand Duke even distributes the remaining vegetables to his soldiers and servant’s family."
"And you think this is a good trait?" Crown Prince Richard laughed as he looked at Princess Eleanor. "What if their greed overpowers them and they want to have something more? What if people tried to steal things? I think this is dumb. Everyone and everything has its own place and as people in power, we have to maintain it. We have the power to change the course of people’s life."
"And does that mean we can destroy their life too?" Princess Eleanor’s eyes sharpened. Her gaze was full of blame as she looked at the Crown Prince. She wanted to ask things clearly at this point. She wanted to ask him, ’was it that simple to let my family die? Was it that easy to let people attack them just because you were in power?’
Crown Prince Richard looked at Princess Eleanor with a narrowed gaze. He could sense that the Princess was not in a good mood. From the letter received by Duke Felix of the Angevin Kingdom, he knew that the Princess had still not overcome her grief. She was still affected by her family’s death.
’But the Princess thinks it was his Uncle that made her family die?’ The Crown Prince thought as he smiled, ’Well, that is not wrong. It was indeed him who had suggested killing the formal Kind. And I had no other option than to help. If only he had agreed to my suggestion first, he would have been alive,’
The Crown Prince smiled as he blinked his eyes. "That is the thing with power, Princess. Even if people were killed by you, no one can complain. After all, people will think twice before they blame or question you because of the fear of the same thing happening to them."
Princess Eleanor did not reply anything but her gaze was filled with an unknown emotion. She was not happy with the things that were happening. The Crown Prince’s words were an indication of his real thought. He was a man who loved to be in power. He loved the influence he had on people.
’Maybe only the Grand Duke is the one who can oppose him’ Princess Eleanor thought as she smiled. She wanted to roll her eyes but she knew that she could not do it at will. What if the Crown Prince sees it? It will be worse if he decides to pursue it further.
The Crown Prince saw that the Princess was in no mood of saying anything. He stopped on his steps as he looked at the Princess. His whole body was looking at her. The Crown Prince had a brief understanding of the situation. He understood from the way the Princess from the Angevin Kingdom was behaving from the start, it was clear that she had no interest in marrying him.
The curiosity that he had never felt before was burning deep. "I would like to ask Princess something," 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
As soon as the Princess saw the Crown Prince, the first thing she notices was the badge on his coat. The teardrop shape was shining under the sun.
Princess Eleanor nodded her head. She knew that he wanted to ask something that might be related to the Crown Princess selection. She had a feeling and when the Crown Prince said the words, her assumptions were correct.
"Why do I feel like the Princess is not looking forward to becoming the Crown Princess? Is it true?" The Crown Prince did not say anything else but simply smiled. He was observing Princess Eleanor’s expression. He was confident that even if the Princess tried to say a lie, he would be able to catch it.
"The Crown Princess," Princess Eleanor said in a daze. "To be honest, I would have been happy to become one if I had someone to share the happiness with but now it is different. I don’t know if the Crown Prince knows it or not but I had lost my family to an unfortunate accident. I have been trying to overcome it but...."
"What does the Princess aspire to do?" Crown Prince Richard said as he took a step forward. His eyes looked straight at the Princess as he curled his lips up. "You can do it all if you sit in the position above all. Think about it. If the Princess becomes the Crown Princess then you can be the future Empress. After all, I am the only one who can sit in that position in the future. And if the Princess decides that she wants to be by my side then I can help her in whatever she wants."
Princess Eleanor’s eyes were shining brightly as she looked at the Crown Prince. She bit her lupus nervously as she saw the Crown Prince being very near her. She was a little uncomfortable as the distance between them leaned but Princess Eleanor’s thoughts were preoccupied with the Crown Prince’s words.
"But why me? It is not like it is in our hands. Even if I desire to be the Crown Princess like every other Princess who has come here, I know that it will be God’s will. Only when Priest Erasmus delivers the prophecy then we will know who will be the Crown Princess so what is the use of having a desire that might not come to fulfillment."
"But if everyone thinks like the Princess then all of this is of no use," Crown Prince Richard said with a smile on his face. "But what if you are chosen to be the Crown Princess? Will you help me so that I can help you?"
"And what will the Crown Prince need help with?" Princess Eleanor raised her eyebrows in question. She would not understand why the man was looking at her with such unusual eyes.
Crown Prince Richard leaned forward as he whispered in Princess Eleanor’s ear, "I want to destroy the people standing in my path." He moved his hand as he touched her face slightly. "And I think the Princess will be of great help. You are not interested in me and I can say that so the Princess will not mind me living my life freely, and I want someone like that by my side. And in return, I will help the Princess in achieving her dreams. I will help you to take the revenge."
Princess Eleanor’s eyes widened as she looked straight at the Crown Prince. She wanted to ask how does he know that she desires revenge but before she could ask she heard a voice coming from the side that stated to her, "Your highness the Crown Prince."
Princess Eleanor took a few steps back as she created a distance between them. Her eyes looked to the man who had his head bowed. Princess Eleanor took a deep breath of relief as she smiled.
Crown Prince Richard looked at the man as he was a little annoyed. He did not wish to be disturbed at the moment. He was there outlying his plan when his Commander decided to disturb him. "Commander Colt,"
Commander Colt looked up at the Crown Prince when he noticed the warning in his gaze but he didn’t care. It was not his time to react just yet. After all, there was a man who was sitting there on the brake of the tree who was ready to kill the Crown Prince with his own hand if he did not disturb them, and that man was much scarier then the Crown Prince himself.
The Crown Prince took a deep breath as he looked at Princess Eleanor but seeing the dizziness in her eyes, he knew that she would not listen to him. He had to be tactful in convincing her. After all, looking at the situation, Princess Eleanor was the only one who was able to enter the Beaumont mansion and stay there. She would be able to help him tackle the man in the future.
Crown Prince Richard took a step but as soon as he took a step forward, Princess Eleanor took a step back. He could only sigh as he said, "This about it Princess. I can give you the power to deal with your Uncle."
