The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 169
Doctor Raul was happy seeing the chief healer’s sour look. His lips curled up as he nodded his head. "Yes, these are blank pages and I want you to write all the types of medicines that you have given Princess Eleanor previously. Make sure to add all the ingredients you have used as well."
The chief healer’s lips twitched as he looked at the man. He wanted to curse out loud but he could not. And that frustrated him even more that he felt as though he would implode. He sneered before starting to write on the paper.
Soon the chief healer had listed down everything and handed it over to Doctor Raul. His eyes narrowed as he said, "This is all that I have used."
Doctor Raul smiled as he took the paper and sat down. He looked through it carefully as he circled a few ingredients thoughtfully.
"Have you not left any time for settlement between these two medicines? These ingredients oppose one another." Doctor Raul raised his eyebrows as he looked at the chief healer whose gaze was trembling in fear.
"I... they usually do not need..." The chief healer was confused as he swallowed hard. The thought that he had made a mistake was enough to make him nervous, but the chief healer was quite certain that the two ingredients do not work opposite to each another.
"Not literally, but the other ingredients surrounding it are poisonous." Doctor Raul leaned forward as he pointed to a certain ingredient. "As a healer, you should have known it. But you are lucky."
The chief healer’s eyes shook as he looked up at Doctor Raul, "Lucky?"
"Yes, the Princess’s poison was much stronger so it did not affect her body. If it had done so, the consequences could have been worse." Doctor Raul said severely as he shook his head in disappointment. "But coming to the cure. I can only tell you one thing that it is a combination of many drugs so the solution has to be a combination of cures excluding the opposite ingredients."
The chief healer was confused. He had a nervous thought that the cure would be a combination of medicines. "But how do you know that it was a combination of different poisons?"
Doctor Raul smiled as he blinked his eyes, "A good question for once." Doctor Raul laughed. "Because I had done some research on the poison before administering the medication. Maybe that is the difference between my treatment methods and that of the temple. I actually care for my patients, so I do the research."
The chief healers’ eyes narrowed at the implication of Doctor Raul’s words. He knew that what Doctor Raul said was true. He and the other healers had only seen the poison so they had tried to give all sorts of combinations of medicines to see if it works. But never had they even thought to study the poison in depth.
"So are you going to help me understand the cure?" the chief healer asked as he looked at the man in anticipation. He was not ready to accept that it was his mistake in the first place. How could he do that when he was trying so hard to cover up all his tracks?
"No." Doctor Raul said as he smirked. "Why don’t you try and figure it out on your own? I will help you if you are stuck somewhere. All you people from the temple cannot be thinking that I am someone that you can push around as you please, do you? Everyone needs to struggle, so why don’t you do so too?"
The chief healer’s lips twitched when he heard Doctor Raul’s taunting words. His fingers formed a fist as he tried to control his raging emotions. He knew that he had to be silent. "So where can I research the poison?"
Doctor Raul smiled as he got up from the chair. He walked towards a place where all the glass vials were kept, "This is the place where you can do the research. I will be here to help anywhere you need."
The chief healer tried to force out a grateful smile as he wanted to look normal, but his face was ugly. He buried his ego deep down as he walked towards the place where Doctor Raul was standing and took a glass tube in hand.
He felt like he was a student again who was being told off by his teacher to study hard. The chief healer closed his eyes as he tried to maintain his calm. He knew that there was no other way to do this and if he planned to find and report to Priest Erasmus about the medicine, then he had to do this.
Doctor Raul stood at the side as he observed the chief healer working with his instruments. A lighthearted smile played on his face.
’I hope Princess Eleanor will be happy with my performance. In this way, the chief healer can come up with the medicine and when the Princess needs it, the temple would be able to provide it. This is the most important part of Princess Eleanor’s next step and as per the Grand Duke’s instructions, I have to pay attention to what I tell the people from the temple.’ Doctor Raul thought with a smile. ’I hope everything works out as planned.’

Crown Prince Richard laughed as his eyes sharpened. He could feel the uncertainty in Princess Eleanor’s eyes and he knew that he had to reveal some of his cards to her. After all, he wanted to win big so he understood that he would have to sacrifice something small along the way. Something that he had planned for a long time.
"Proof?" Crown Prince Richard smiled, "I do have one."
The Crown Prince saw the curiosity in Princess Eleanor’s eyes as she blinked, "The people who attacked your parents. These people who attacked your family had a badge on them. Do you know which house that badge belongs to?"
Princess Eleanor’s eyes darkened. She had always wondered why the Royal family would use a badge of the Grand Duke’s House. But now, it all made perfect sense. The Crown Prince had planned it all. And it had been planned so long ago. He had really thought about it so thoroughly before executing it.
’But the Grand Duke is much smarter than the Crown Prince,’ Princess Eleanor thought. ’After all, he has all the proof in his hands. He is ready for the worst disaster.’
"Is it from House Beaumont?" Princess Eleanor’s eyes trembled as she asked in fear, keeping up her pretense. "How could it..."
"Yes, Princess. It belongs to House Beaumont." The Crown Prince confirmed with a satisfied gleam in his eyes as he leaned forward. His head rested on his clasped hands as he looked at the Princess sharply. "As a ruler of the Empire, I have knowledge of everyone’s movement. Although I have never objected to my cousin, there is a limit to everything. I cannot turn a blind eye to it and just allow him do whatever he pleases."
Princess Eleanor was silent as if she was in deep thought. "But what does the Crown Prince want? He might have killed my family, but there must be a reason why the Crown Prince wants to help me in particular."
"I told you the reason already, Princess. He is both of our enemies." The Crown Prince sighed as he looked at the Princess with a dull gaze. His tone suddenly shifted as if he had suffered a lot. "The Princess might not be aware of this, but the man has been trying his best to take over my throne. He had attacked different Kingdoms who had good relations with me only because he wanted my power to be reduced."
The Crown Prince took a deep breath as he continued, "The Angevin Kingdom and the Empire had a good relationship but now that there is a new King enthroned, a strain has appeared in that relationship. This is exactly what he had always wanted. So I want your help to remove this hurdle from both of our lives."
"But how can I help? I am only a Princess with no power." Princess Eleanor said in a dull tone. She knew that the Crown Prince had something in mind and all she had to do was to dig for more information.
"The Princess is now living in House Beaumont. And looking at your condition and through Doctor Raul’s words, I can estimate that you will be able to enter the Royal Palace within a week. And all I want from the Princess is to help me get some information."
Princess Eleanor raised her eyebrows as she looked at the man, "Information? What kind of information?"
"Yes," The Crown Prince nodded his head as he leaned back, "I will let the Princess know what I want slowly."
Princess Eleanor took a deep breath as she controlled her breathing, "I will get that information, but I will hold on to it until the prophecy confirms that I am the Empress. I need this for my own security. I hope the Crown Prove understands this."
The Crown Prince laughed, pleased at how things were progressing. "I had only heard that the Princess was intelligent, but now I can truly say that it is true. I will respect your choice. You give me the information and I will give you the position. It will be our deal."
Princess Eleanor nodded her head. She was about to ask something else when they heard a knock at the door before a soldier entered and bowed.
"Long live the Crown Prince!" The soldier saluted and when he heard a humming sound from the Crown Prince, he looked up and continued. "The Princesses have arrived."
