The Werewolf King's Bride-Chapter 582: Wrong
(From Blue’s Perspective)
"What do you mean ’wrong’, Blue?" Dem asked.
"Wrong… Maybe I shouldn’t say ’wrong’ after all. Difficult, it is. And different. When I am with Dion, I can feel his power, concealed, but it’s there. And I can sense a bit of what kind of power it might be. But with Demian… I can sense nothing.
It’s hollow, Dem. It’s not like how I feel around normal people who don’t have any mana. It’s more like… it’s deep down inside his little body. I cannot find it, but I know it’s there. There is this eerie silence. You just know something is lurking in the dark," I said.
"When I don’t know what it is, I feel restless. Cyan once mentioned something like this to me."
"When a mage is too powerful, sometimes, they unknowingly conceal their power in a way that almost no one manages to trace it, even before their power is awakened. In fact, it is far easier to do so when it is not awakened. I believe that’s what Demian is doing. Not just I believe," I said, "I think that is the case."
"Do you know what kind of power he has?"
"No! But he has something special. It can be either really awesome or scarier than anything. I know nothing about what kind of power he has. But I can sense that he is powerful."
"Blue, you are very powerful. It means Dion is no less powerful than Demian."
"No, Dem, why don’t you understand? Think about our Luc. Luc’s mother doesn’t have that much mana. But he is now the master of the magic tower."
"So, you mean he is even more powerful than you?"
"I don’t know. But at least, there is a huge gap between Dion and Demian’s power. I wished my poor boys wound have just a minimum amount of power and not anything like this," I murmured. "Now, look at Demian. He wants him, Dem. Azure wants him."
"Why can’t he come here himself if he wants our son that much?"
"He might not have recovered completely yet. I injured him quite greatly," I said. "He might also have another plan. I don’t know. He knows about my power. Then, why he is wasting his dark mages, I have no idea."
"Blue, something is wrong here. We need to look between the lines. There is something else going on," he said. "Keep your eyes and ears open. Anything can happen. And keep an eye on Demian and Dion all the time.
Just because he can’t get Demian doesn’t mean he won’t try to take Dion. Dion is a dark mage too. He could be used as an asset."
"You are right," I nodded. "We keep the kids with us all the time. I don’t see any gap in what we do."
"That’s even a greater problem, isn’t it, if he can see a gap but we can’t?" Dem muttered, thinking.
Around noon, Demian went back to his usual routine of crying. It gave me a headache, but at least, I could hold my dear child to my chest. He could have been far away from me if Dem and I had not managed to defeat those dark mages.
I did not understand why Azure was doing it. Did he underestimate my power that much?
"Dion, don’t touch the soil like that! I saw a worm there just a while ago."
Since Dion now reached the walking phase, I had to tell him off a lot. He just ran around when I was near and touched this and that and then put his dirty hand in his mouth.
He was very curious about everything. Especially when we were outside, he would run around and touch the trees and soil. The other day, he brought me a dead rat he found in the garden. The gardener apologized again and again.
"Dion, don’t put your hand in your mouth!"
I got up quickly and pulled his hand away just in time. Demian would not let me put him down, so I had to do everything with him wrapped around my chest. The wrap was a good way, I figured, to keep him close and calm. Stay tuned to novelbuddy
I washed Dion’s hands and made him sit next to me with a strawberry tart.
"I have to give you a bath upon returning. You look like you have just rolled on the dirt," I said, looking at Dion.
"He must really like the nature," Ruby chuckled.
We were just having some tea and snacks. I had not been feeling well mentally, so Ruby tried to cheer me up.
Ruby had hurt her ankle when fell from the stairs last night. Fortunately, she could balance her body, or she would have fallen down till the end and it would have been really terrible.
"He likes everything these days. And as for trees and things like this, he has always been a fan," I said.
"I heard about last night," she stated slowly.
"Yeah. It was bad, but manageable," I said.
"Are you not hurt?"
"No, in fact, I am better than I have been in the last few months."
"What about His Highness?"
"Dem is okay too. The kids are fine and everything. The room’s state was bad though. I didn’t notice anything since I kind of fainted. Dem told me today," I said. "More than that, how is your ankle, Ruby?
I was shocked when I heard. It must hurt a lot."
"It hurts when I walk. It’s hard to put pressure on my left foot. The doctor said it’s nothing serious and I will get better within a week or two."
"Oh, I’m so sorry it happened."
"I think I was kind of distracted. I had plates on my hands because Luc left them in the wrong room. You know how he is. He always leaves things here and there, no matter how many times I tell him. I was a little angry too. I was carrying them down when suddenly, I fell.
I grabbed at whatever I could. Luc is now well-behaved."
"I always feared something like this. Something worse could happen. I dread those damn stairs," I said and then, turning to Dion, who was trying to run away again, I added, "Don’t go anywhere. You are to sit here by Mommy and that’s it."
"As I was saying, those stairs are scary, especially in the dark. You got to be careful."
"We usually don’t put out the light in the stairs. It can get really dangerous or else. I was just of unconscious mind that time."
Demian started crying which put an end to our conversation. Stopping Demian was a really hard task.
"Demian is really hard to manage compared to Dion, isn’t he?"
I nodded in agreement. "I think Demian will be one of the hardest kids to manage. He really cries all day," I said. "He is my grumpy little star. But when he smiles, it’s just beautiful. It’s rare though.
