The Whole Internet is Shipping Me with My Ex-Boyfriend-Chapter 385: Opening Up to Her
Gu Yuan dragged her exhausted self and finally reached the bar where Quan Jin was partying.
By the time she arrived at the bar, it was already close to 2:30 in the early morning.
Recently, her schedule had been so chaotic due to the workload, and she needed to adjust it, but even at her most tired moment, she still had to come and pick up Quan Jin, who was having a blast.
After parking the car, she took out her phone to call Quan Jin, asking him to come out; there was no way she would go inside.
Gu Yuan hated that dynamic metal music; it would give her a headache.
When the line connected, there was none of that noisy sound.
Then she heard the person on the other end say, "Look towards the 10 o’clock direction of where you are."
Gu Yuan had a good sense of direction. With the phone still pressed against her ear and the call not yet ended, she looked in the 10 o’clock direction as he said, and saw a dark figure squatting in a corner.
With just one glance, she knew the person squatting there was Quan Jin.
"Here," he responded.
Gu Yuan replied, "I see you."
This bar wasn’t located in the bustling downtown, but rather in an old neighborhood. Once night fell, no decent people would be out and about, and those who were out weren’t exactly upstanding folks. She wondered why he chose a place like this.
He just squatted there, phone to his ear, only responding with a word, without looking at her, as if he was sulking.
Gu Yuan hung up and walked towards him, the sound of her high heels tapping, apart from that, the entire street was wrapped in a near desolate emptiness.
As she got closer, she saw him all dressed in black, almost blending into the night. Gu Yuan couldn’t make out how he was squatted until he moved his head, and she realized where his head was.
He lifted his head to look at her, his face impossibly handsome, yet now wore an expression of grievances. Gu Yuan noticed his tousled hair, capturing both a sense of disarray and charm. To be blunt, it still relied on his strikingly handsome looks.
With a subtle smile, she said, "Waiting for me here, huh."
He replied, "No, I’m just enjoying the cold breeze here."
She laughed, somewhat helplessly, reached out to pull him up, but he dodged haughtily. Gu Yuan chuckled again, "Oh, still throwing a tantrum, are we?"
"Who’s throwing a tantrum? Am I the type to do that? I’m not childish," he vehemently argued.
Gu Yuan agreed with him, "Yeah, you’re right, you’re not childish, you’re just a bit rowdy."
Rowdy, indeed.
Childish, absolutely.
If he won’t own up, there has to be some truth in either.
Quan Jin slowly got to his feet. Being tall, the person who needed Gu Yuan to bend down a moment ago, now made her look up to him when he stood up.
He first complained, "Why did it take you so long to get here."
"I took a cab," Gu Yuan answered truthfully.
He said nothing, turning his face to one side.
Gu Yuan didn’t smell alcohol on him, not even ladies’ perfume, but a clean and fresh cedarwood scent wafted lightly towards her nose.
So the revelry and debauchery were just for show.
She knowingly asked, "Weren’t you drunk? Why don’t you smell like alcohol?"
He showed a hint of embarrassment, having claimed he was drunk just to trick her into picking him up. He never expected her to actually agree to come.
With a bit of bashfulness in his tone, earlier purposely looking away in pride, now unable to meet her eyes, he murmured, "You took so long, the smell would have dissipated. If you came earlier, maybe you could’ve caught a whiff, maybe there’s still a hint."
"Let me smell then..." She leaned forward, getting closer to him.
Quan Jin suddenly stiffened, his Adam’s apple moved slightly: "You..."
If she didn’t tease, it would be fine, but having done so, he was taken aback!
The faint perfume scent in front of him stimulated his brain, making him excited.
Gu Yuan asked him, "So did Young Master Quan enjoy himself with the ladies today?"
He replied, "Not bad, lots of beautiful women."
She laughed lightly, "Oh."
He: "..."
This sort of thing shouldn’t need explaining, moreover, why should he explain? He could perfectly well let her assume with his presence right there.
Yet his mouth ran faster than his mind, actually explaining to her, "I didn’t fool around with women."
Gu Yuan probably didn’t expect him to explain like this, bashful and finicky.
She was momentarily stunned, couldn’t help it, and burst out laughing.
He saw her laughing, looked even more bashful: "What are you laughing at, no laughing."
Gu Yuan’s lips curled up like a crescent moon: "But I really want to laugh."
"Then hold it in."
The more he said to hold it in, the more freely she laughed.
Mainly because seeing Quan Jin like this was so well-behaved, whatever anger Gu Yuan had been holding in her heart was nowhere to be found at this moment.
