Chapter 1207: The Way to Live

The threat posed by the Abyssal Beast King was simply too significant.

Any act of resistance Vaan took would be insignificant and unable to change the outcome of his fate. Since Empyrean Oceanheart’s divination determined that he was fated to die, the Lord of Chaos was very likely to arrive late.

In other words, he was very likely to die. Moreover, it would be a death truer than true death itself.

How in the world was he supposed to come back from that?

As Vaan sensed death’s inevitable approach, he realized that he could not face it as calmly as he had imagined. Death was actually not new to him, considering the memories from his past reincarnations.

However, he had never experienced the concept of a truer death than true death.

Such a death wouldn’t just be the annihilation of his body and soul but also the very essence of his existence and connection to the world.

A destroyed body could be rebuilt as long as the soul survived, and even a destroyed soul could be revived as long as the origin source stored in the Astral Soul Realm remained intact.

However, if even the origin source stored in the Astral Soul Realm was wiped clean, what proof would be left of his existence or having existed at all?

All traces of his existence and all his marks on history would disappear. Reality itself would be rewritten without his name. Even to his loved ones, he would fade from their memories.

Essentially, he would be completely deleted from time and space.

As such, even the reversal of spacetime would not be able to bring him back. After all, it couldn’t bring back something that no longer existed in the past.

Perhaps it was a mistake to seek the Grand Unit Human Clan. If they had never come to the Umbral Starreach Sector, they would have never been dragged into the depths of the Umbral Edge, where the situation was unclear yet full of dangers.

That said, Vaan had the feeling that even if he had stayed in the Myriad Sea God Palace, the Dark Horizon would have evolved in a similar way and found a way to drag him into it.

’Is this the power of fate? Even if I think I am trying to defy it, I will still unwittingly walk right into its trap and predetermined outcome...’

’No, I can’t accept this!’

Although Vaan felt this way, he also understood that it was impossible to evade the Abyssal Beast King’s hunt. He also couldn’t wait for the Lord of Chaos to save him. In other words, he would undoubtedly be killed by the Abyssal Beast King.

’Since I can’t escape death by the Abyssal Beast King, is there a way to cheat death and fool it?’ Vaan frowned in thought.

It was impossible for him to just wait for someone to save him. He had already decided for himself that he would struggle to the bitter end, utilizing every possible method he could think of to overthrow his fate.

Whether for himself or his loved ones, he had to find a way to live.

’I will die without a doubt. So, if I want to live, I have to ensure that I can come back to life. To enter the deepest depths of the death realm and return... This is certainly no small challenge.’

Vaan pondered hard for a solution.

Originally, Valefor was his life-saving assurance. Even if his main body and soul were destroyed, he could revive himself through the Primordial Avatar, ensuring a second chance at life.

Unfortunately, this trump card of his was bound to be unreliable. After all, it was only possible if his origin source still existed. If even that was erased, then he wouldn’t be able to return through the Primordial Avatar.

To lose the origin source was to lose all forms of existence and his connection to the world. He would disappear entirely from the face of the earth, leaving no records or memories.

Truly a death truer than true death.

’How can I come back from this state? No, is it even possible with my level of cultivation?’ Vaan frowned with uncertainty.

He had a feeling that even if he found a method, it would still be rendered useless in front of the Abyssal Beast King’s absolute power. Even so, he still had to try.

’I need to create an original spell that will automatically activate and reverse everything at the moment my entire existence disappears...’ Vaan figured.

As long as the power that was going to be used to erase him ends at the point when his existence had completely disappeared, and doesn’t persist to prevent all possibilities of his potential restoration, then such a reversal spell might just work.

Ultimately, he would still die completely, but only for a brief instant before coming back into existence.

However, it wouldn’t make much difference if his return were discovered right away, prompting the Abyssal Beast King to kill him again on the spot. As such, he also needed to displace the location of his return.

Of course, creating the original spell itself wouldn’t be simple. Thus, adding an extra condition would also make it much more difficult.

’I will have to raise my comprehension of the Spatial Law, Temporal Law, and Inverse Law significantly within a short time, if I want to create this grand reversal spell,’ Vaan figured.

Comprehending the Spatial Law and Temporal Law shouldn’t be a significant problem. By relying on memories of his past lives, he should be able to quickly deepen his understanding of these two great laws.

However, comprehending the Inverse Law would be the true challenge. The Law of Inversion wasn’t just an Origin Law on the same level as the Asura Law. In fact, the Law of Inversion surpasses the Asura Law.

’The Inverse Law... This is Father’s Origin Law, the Prime Law, which brought an end to the merciless cycle of creation and destruction and realized the pursuit of the everlasting.’

’This is the first challenge I have to overcome,’ Vaan understood.
