Chapter 258: The Empire Has a New Ruler

Revelation watched her mother and sister from the doorway, Delores holding Genesis’s face in both hands, tears streaming down both their cheeks, words tumbling over each other in broken whispers and laughter. She smiled softly, chest warm in a way it hadn’t been in years.

Then she turned her head slightly.

He was there.

Kieran leaned against the far wall, arms crossed, eyes fixed on Genesis like nothing else in the room existed. Not Delores. Not Daisy giggling in the corner. Just Genesis.

Revelation’s lips curved.

It was time.

She walked toward him, and stopped beside him without looking up.

Before she could speak, he beat her to it.

"Let’s move to the study."

Her smirk deepened. Always one step ahead.

He pushed off the wall and walked out without another word. Revelation followed.

They stepped into the study. Kieran moved straight to the mahogany desk, leaned back against it, arms crossed again, eyes locked on her.

"Still want my head?" he asked, straight to the point. No circling.

Revelation turned her head just enough to see Damon leaning silently against the wall beside the door. She hadn’t even sensed him follow. She looked back at Kieran.

"Not anymore," she said quietly. "I want something else."

He arched a brow.

"Spill it."

She took a breath.

"There is something I want more than revenge for the loss you caused me, a loss, to be honest, I don’t really feel anymore. What matters more is my sister. And the lives inside her. Killing you would profit nothing. It would just kill her. Because she would follow you to hell."

Kieran’s expression stayed blank.

Revelation continued.

"So what I want is for you to be alive. And for that to happen... there can’t be a Knight anymore."

Silence filled the room.

A full minute passed.

Kieran finally spoke, his voice calm and even.

"Knight will forever be me. I can’t remove that side. It’s in my blood. In my bones. It’s how I kept her safe."

He paused.

Then added "But Knight......has stepped down"

Revelation blinked.

Kieran’s gaze flicked to the door behind her.

"Behind you."

She turned.

Damon pushed off the wall, arms still crossed, expression calm.

Revelation’s eyes went wide.

Kieran stepped forward.

"Just as that girl out there is important to you," he said quietly, "she’s more important to me. I will relinquish everything, the network, the operations, the contacts, the power to be here. But Knight will always be in me. To protect her."

Revelation’s eyes suddenly became glassy.

She nodded once, emotional

Kieran’s lips turned up to what seemed to be a smile, almost gentle and reached out.

He ruffled her hair.

She froze in surprise.

Then he walked past her toward the door.

He paused in the doorway, looked back at her.

"But I still want to know the hurt I must have caused you. And... Knight and I apologize."

Her eyes widened further.

She shook her head fast.

"It’s in the past."

He held her gaze a second longer.

Then he looked at Damon, a silent nod passed between them and walked out.

The door clicked shut.

Revelation stared at it for a long moment.

Damon stepped up behind her, voice low.

"Seems you’re really surprised."

She turned to him.

"I didn’t think he would stop all underground business."

Damon’s lips curved, faint, knowing.

"Isn’t that what you wanted in exchange, kitten?"

She smiled, shocked but relieved.

"Yes. But I thought I would need to persuade him."

Damon stepped closer.

"No."

He reached out, tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Knight might have made me the boss and the head but he’s still my boss. Still the head, unofficially. He’s just stepped down."

Revelation’s smile grew.

"I could manage that."

She tilted her head, eyes sparkling with mischief.

"So I guess you would need a partner to rule this domain?"

Damon’s gaze darkened, heat flickering behind the calm.

"I already have one."

He pulled her in by the waist.

She laughed, a soft, breathless sound and kissed him hard.

The empire had a new ruler.

And somewhere down the hall, Genesis was laughing with her mother, safe, loved, filled with life.

Everything was finally right.
