Chapter 103: To Find Companions (2)

Ayen’s brow arched up. He stared at Auxia, his expression revealing nothing. Inwardly, he was already planning how to make this brother talk more and spill what he knew.

Given what he observed so far, this Auxia was not that smart. Who would quickly let the other suspect know that he had a hand in what happened to them?

Was Auxia so confident because he thought his brother was an idiot, as he always mocked?

"Why do you think I survived?" Ayen asked in a low tone.

Auxia’s expression soured. "Why are you asking me? Tch. You’re only lucky." Then, as if he realized something, he sneered. "I don’t know if you’ll be lucky next time."

Ayen noticed the blatant threat in those words. He narrowed his eyes. While he did not care what feud this Auxia had with the real Aurelle, he had become Aurelle now.

And that was no different from Auxia threatening him. No matter how stupid-sounding it was. Ayen did not like the sound of that. He had been surviving all alone for years because he knew how to fight his battles. Similarly, he knows what words to avoid or take seriously.

He also became used to insults and was perceptive to those who only knew how to bark without posing a real threat to his life.

Ayen’s urgency to find Khal and Devion was not because he could not survive alone, nor did he know how to preserve his life before they found him.

Even if he could not, Ayen was always someone who fought for himself without waiting for death or someone’s salvation.

He just wanted to be reunited with them; that was all. Ayen planned to disregard the affairs regarding the original owner of this body and this brother of his, but it seemed he could not ignore it.

After all, as long as he was inside this body, all Auxia’s threats against him would become his troubles. Thinking so, Ayen narrowed his eyes, and his fingers around the fork and the knife tightened.

Seeing his silence, thinking he was scared. Auxia chuckled, enjoying his brother’s fear.

"Maybe if you stop being a nuisance, I’ll spare you." While he said that, Ayen could tell he was not serious at all and merely spoke those words to play with his brother’s feelings.

Ayen’s eyes darkened. He put down the cutlery in his hands, then wiped his mouth.

"Why the silence? Answer, little brother." Auxia even singsonged the last words, clearly enjoying this situation. It was as though finally he could feed his ego and not be inferior to his brother anymore.

The distance between the two was not much. When Ayen stood up and walked towards Auxia’s side, he only needed a few steps.

Auxia was still sitting casually, watching Ayen’s figure close their distance, and Auxia crossed his arms in delight.

"You can kneel before me. Maybe, I can forgive you?"

Ayen looked down at Auxia’s arrogant face. He was so familiar with such expressions that they had long since stopped stirring his emotions.

However, Auxia somehow reminded Ayen of the Nevaris clan. They did not have a sense of kinship and would let jealousy consume them and harm their relatives.

Compared to the insulting words he had received in the past, Auxia’s words were lacking, but the intention made something inside Ayen boil.

He did not suppress it either. There was no need to make an effort for a bastard. Ayen’s pupils turned dark, and before Auxia could react, the small knife on his plate was now pointing at his neck.

Ayen tightly held the knife against the Auxia’s neck. Auxia was so startled that he stiffened and almost moved, causing the knife to tear in his skin.

His face paled, and he froze. Auxia’s mocking smile had faded and was only replaced by a look of terror.

"What... What are you doing?" Auxia managed to blurt out, nervousness tinged in his voice.

"Move, or you’ll die," Ayen spoke in a calm tone; the indifference in his expression proved he was serious.

Auxia gritted his teeth and pretended to compose himself. He arched his neck and looked at Ayen.

"Hah. You want to kill me? Do you even know—" Auxia had to pause and let out a shaky grunt of pain. His eyes widened, finally realizing Ayen was truly serious.

"You—" He could not continue any longer, and his body shook. The blood in his neck flowed, a reminder that a sharp knife was pointed at his neck.

No matter how small, it was sharp and qualified to tear and stab at his neck.

Ayen did not have combat power, but that was against monsters and espers. Guides were essentially weaker than espers, but against normal people, they were generally stronger.

Since upon awakening, the mana inside them would evolve their bodies into a higher level, just like with espers.

Although it was not much, they could easily overpower an ordinary person. Ayen had already sensed that this body was also a Guide, and from his brother’s insults and jealousy, his rank should be higher than Ayen’s official E-class rank.

"If you don’t want to die, answer my question." Ayen paused and looked at Auxia straight in the eye. "Don’t think I won’t kill you. The moment I sensed a lie escaped from that filthy mouth of yours... You’re dead."

To further show his point, Ayen moved the knife and let fresh blood gush out from the wound.

Auxia panicked, and he almost shouted, but Ayen’s sinister glare and words made him close his lips.

"Shout, and you’ll die even faster."

"I’m... your bro-ther..." Auxia spoke in a frightened tone.

Ayen ignored those words. How could a monster that threatened his brother earlier now use that exact card?

"Do you have an accomplice?"

Auxia bit his lips. Ayen’s eyes flickered. "Answer me."

Before Auxia could speak, Ayen spoke again.

"Don’t lie."

Auxia bit his lips until they bled, and feeling the knife stir around his neck, he panicked and blurted a name.

"Julius! He... He wants to kill you. I, I just... Give information. Please, Aurelle, don’t kill me, please..." Tears streamed down his cheeks, his body trembling.

Ayen did not know who Julius was, but since he already knew the name, it was easier to find out who that was.
