The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 121: A buffet of wedding rings.
"Wake up."
A soft voice and persistent poking of her waist forced Alix to open her eyes and surrender the deep sleep she had been enjoying.
"Hmmm," she mumbled as she blinked in a semi confused state and turned over.
Caishen was there, and he was staring at her blankly. It was him that had been poking her.
"You are home." she said in a sleepy voice as she slowly raised herself to sit upright. "Welcome home."
He reached his right hand out and touched her cheek. "You look like your cat when you are waking up."
"Pft!" a light laugh escaped her mouth. It was followed by a weary yawn.
She looked around and wondered for how long she had been sleeping. It felt like more than the thirty minutes which she intended. Once again, she yawned and rubbed her heavy eyes.
"How long have I been sleeping?" she asked him.
"Two hours." he pointed to the round brown gold clock on the wall. "Exactly how much fun did you have with elder Tai?"
She stretched her arms and turned her head from side to side. It felt a bit stiff because she had not been in the best sleeping position.
"Hubby, I think my neck needs a massage." she said in a grouchy voice.
Even her face gave off the picture of someone who was sulking.
"I have a neck massager somewhere in the closet...."
"No, want you." she said.
She faced him with those expressive eyes of hers. In that moment, Caishen could not help thinking that she was acting more like a teenager than a thirty year old.
"Hubby Zhang, massage." she poked his shoulder and said.
"What if I am rough?" he asked her.
In his eyes was a glint of amusement, he was teasing her on purpose.
She smirked and said confidently, "It's okay, I can take it."
For a while, he just stared at her with a surprised look on his face. He made the sly innuendo on purpose but he had been outmaneuvered. She had grabbed the baton and run all the way with it.
He could not even tell if they were talking about a massage or something else.
He looked away from her and figured that he should change the topic.
He cleared his throat and said, "I noticed that you don't wear a ring, a wedding ring."
Alix looked at her ring finger and it was as empty as had always been. She didn't know what had prompted him to raise the matter, it didn't really matter to her whether she had a ring or not.
"I cannot bring myself to wear a ring that was picked out with Billi in my mind. It's bad enough that the dress...."
She caught herself explaining and she stopped. She had made all those claims about marrying him of her own volition because she liked him. Talking about how she was forced to wear Billi's dress and shoes would undermine her story.
"I just don't want anything that was once used by Billi." She looked into his eyes and said, "If you had even touched her once, I would not want you as well."
She put her right hand over her heart and said, "It would have killed me to give up the man I like so much but it would kill me even more if we had to live with the memories of her in our marriage."
A part of Caishen felt incredibly uncomfortable. He realized that he had come to a certain expectation when it came to the way she felt about him, or claimed to. There was a delusional part of his mind which had assumed that she liked him no matter what. If she loathed her sister that much, then he had to clear up the air immediately to avoid misunderstandings.
"I never touched her." he blurted out.
She extended her hand out and touched his arm. With an assuring look in her eyes she said, "I know."
Lin Billi would not have hesitated to rub it in her face if anything had happened between them.
He put his left hand over her right one and said, "I had a feeling that you were not wearing the ring because of that. I vividly recall you telling my mother to throw out all the clothes which she had for Lin Billi because you would not wear them."
She shook her head in denial. There was a little part which he remembered falsely. "I said donate, not throw out."
She would never waste anything like food or clothes. There were less fortunate people who needed such things. Once upon a time, she was one of those people.
"Fine, donate. Anyway, Is it okay that I selected a few rings for you to choose from? A wedding ring is important. It is a symbol of your status as my wife, the young madam of the Zhang group. Sooner or later, a few nosy people will notice and begin discussing your lack of a weeding ring."
In his mind, elder Tai Sun's image appeared. He was at the top of those nosy people.
To her, it seemed like this was something he had given a lot of thought and one that was important to him. Perhaps it was a step forward in their marriage, one she was okay taking.
"Alright, let's go ring shopping." she said.
She pulled her hand away from him and made a move to stand up.
He tugged on her arm and encouraged her to get back down. "It's okay, stay seated. I had the jeweler come to us."
He looked over his shoulder and said in a loud voice, "Wang Ma, tell Haitao to send them up."
Wang Ma, as usual was hovering close by and she hurried away to pass the message on to Haitao, Caishen's personal guard and second assistant of sorts.
Meanwhile, Caishen was playing around with her fingers as he said, "Choose anything the you desire. You can even choose more than one, and get a different ring for each day of the week."
She laughed softly, wondering is she was going to be at a buffet not for food but wedding rings.
Exactly one minute later, she realized how true her guess was when she was presented with twenty eight wedding rings and asked to pick whatever she wanted.

She could not tell if he was crazy or simply too rich. Who made someone an offer like that? What if she picked everything? She had no need for all these rings, she just needed one special one.
"You choose," she told him. "Pick a ring that you think suits me best."
