"Kid, can I speak to your mother?" she asked him.

Zhi Yuewei became even more suspicious. After a visit from the man who claimed to be his biological father, all strangers were unwelcome to his house.

"My mother is not here." he said.

He tried to close the door immediately after saying that but Alix would not let him. She smiled and stopped the door from closing with only one hand.

Zhi Yuewei exerted as much force as he could in his attempt to close the door but it did not budge. He looked at Alix in shock, doubting himself and her at the same time. How could she be this freakishly strong? Unless he was the weak one.

"You__, you___." he stammered. "I am calling the police." He turned his head around and yelled, "Mother, call the police."

On the virtual screen, the silly blue elf was rolling around and laughing loudly. "Host, I think your brother has the same IQ as you. Not even a minute has passed since lying about his mother's presence and he is calling her for help. He really is your brother, blood brother. Your father should be compensated for the time and money he wasted on the DNA test."

Alix, with a smirk on her face said, "I thought your mother was not around."

Zhi Yuewei pursed his lips, twisted his feet and dug deep in search of all the strength he could muster.

"What is going on?" Qin Meifen showed up with an anxious voice and a baseball bat in her hands.

She thought Lin Qianfan was back. Lately, that was the only thing which caused noise around here.

"This stranger is trying to force her way inside." Yuewei reported loudly. "She must be with that crazy man."

Alix wanted to laugh but she held back the laughter and shook her head instead in disbelief. Her father would never win over this boy.

She let go of the door just as Meifen gently pushed her son behind her. "Hello, sorry to bother you but I was hoping to speak to you about something."

"Hello," Meifen responded in a neutral voice. She was neither wary, nor happy. "Who might you be?"

"Lin Alix." she replied directly.

Meifen's face finally had a reaction. She frowned and moved her hand so that the baseball bat was visible to Alix.

Yuewei, loudly in a self righteous voice said, "Lin, that's the same man as those lunatics that came by last time. We have nothing to do with that man...."

"I am your sister." Alix said.

Yuewei did not even pause his verbal rant. He just switched from one topic to another. "I have no sister, I am my father and mother's only child. Madam, you really have the wrong person."

Perhaps the next door neighbor was tired of the unnecessary noise because the front door to the neighboring apartment was opened and an older woman stepped out.

There was a crabby look on her face as she eyed Alix who was standing outside of Meifen's door.

"Keep it down. Your family is not the only one with family drama. Why must you do this every other day and disturb everyone?"

She went back inside and slammed the door shut.

Her words made Alix wonder how often her father had come by and got into an argument with Qin Meifen. Judging from the angry face of the neighbor, it had to be often. This conversation was indeed better suited for indoors not out here.

"Can we talk from inside?" Alix asked Meifen. "I am not here to cause trouble, I promise. I am here to help and most importantly, I am here to extend my protection to you. By coming to you, my father, that crazy man has brought danger to your doorstep.

My stepmother, his current wife will do everything she can eliminate Zhi Yuewei or render him useless. I thought that since we might have a few things in common then we could come to a mutual misunderstanding. Moreover, it's a great opportunity for me to meet my brother."

She turned her head back and glared at her loud mouthed son before stepping aside for Alix to come in.

Yuewei kept glancing at his phone and then at her.

"You look different from yourself in the wedding pictures on the internet." He blurted.

"Yuewei don't be rude." Meifen warned her son.

"It's okay, I like people who say what's on their minds directly, especially when they are telling the truth." Alix told her with a lazy smile on her face.

She looked around the small living room, observing the pictures of the family of three on the walls.

Most of the pictures in the room, were of Zhi Yuewei playing badminton. A few trophies were placed on top of a shelf, probably his too.

His school schedule was printed and glued on the wall next to the window. Besides it was his baseball and badminton training schedules.

Alix could now understand why Meifen had a baseball bat in the house. She had wondered why they had one when she first saw it.

You could tell that Meifen had dedicated her life to raising her son in the best way possible.

"Here," Meifen said to Alix as she placed a glass of water down on the table.

"Yuewei plays two sports. That must be challenging to blalance." She said.

"He is a badminton player but lately he has picked an interest in baseball. It's because of a girl..."

"Mother!!" Yuewei cried in an mortified voice.

"If you don't want people to know then don't do it. You will injure your arm if you keep playing baseball. Just stick to what you know best." She replied.

"I can do both." He answered.

Meifen shot her son an unimpressed glare and then smiled at Alix.

"I hope you don't find me rude but I want you to get directly to the point. The only reason why I let you through the door is because you are polite and you said my son was in danger."

"It is exactly what I said." Alix told her.

"I have no plans of getting involved with your Lin family. Why would he be in danger if I stay away just as I have done all these years?" She asked strongly.

Yuewei sat down beside her and nodded wholeheartedly.

"It doesn't mean the Lin family will not get involved with you. Whether you want it or not, they are not going to let you go. Yuewei here is the only biological son my father has. In his mind, Yuewei is his only worthy heir. He will do everything to take him back, including taking you to court and suing for his custody."

"He can't do that." Meifen uttered strongly.

"He can and he will." Alix assured her.
