The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 204: A plan to meet the in-laws
A few days passed and grandma Zhang stayed in the hospital still. Alix, Yura and An took turns spending the night with her.
Na Na tried, but she was not exactly welcomed with smiles and Zhang Xian also forbade her from attempting it again.
On the mission to safeguard grandma Zhang, Alix had to change the plans she had made prior to the hospitalization of the elder.
"Our pretty baby can't come and sleep over tonight. She says that she is spending the night in the hospital." A disappointed Mo Qilu walked into the kitchen and shared this news with grandma Tai.
Grandma Tai was disappointed too on hearing this news. They had prepared a very nice bedroom for Alix and they wanted her to spend a night and see if she liked it. If she was comfortable, then she would sleep over more often. Apart from thinking about the disappointment, she recalled an important matter which they had not taken care of yet.
"We should arrange a visit to the in-laws. The old madam of the Zhang family has been hospitalized for a few days now. We call ourselves Alix's family...no, we are her family. She is the only girl we have but we have not even paid a courtesy visit to her husband's family."
Mo Qilu nodded. "You are right mother, we should really visit. When should we do it?"
"Tomorrow morning would be best. Tell pretty baby that we will be coming so that she can inform them. If the old madam of their family is like me then she will not appreciate us springing on her suddenly."
"Yes mother."
"Arrange for some flowers, daffodils will be best. Also fresh fruits, a card and....uhm...whatever else you think will be appropriate."
"Yes mother."
Mo Qilu left the kitchen, rushing out to make a phone call and make the arrangements as instructed. She suddenly thought about the dress code. How should the mother of a girl child dress when visiting the in-laws? Was it the same like when she met her own daughter-in-law's parents?
There was a lot for her to figure out suddenly and she turned around, going back to the kitchen to ask grandma Tai about it. They needed to look respectful, smart and elegant. Perhaps a little late night shopping was a good idea.
A few minutes later, in the hospital, Alix ended a phone call and went in search of her husband. He was in the ward next door, which he was temporarily using as an office. Those who slept over in the hospital also spent the night there. There was an adjoining door connecting the two wards and it was usually left open so that grandma Zhang could be watched at all times.
When she found him, Caishen was bent over paper work, just as he had been doing when she last saw him an hour back.
She shook her head and touched the back of his head gently. "You are working too hard hubby."
He did not respond to her, not even sparing her a flimsy glance. His eyes stayed glued to the documents in front of him. There were many documents in the room. Some piled up on the floor and others arranged on the bed.
Frowning, Alix put a hand on the document he was reading, blocking out the words. It forced him to look up and he finally noticed her.
"You are back." He said.
"Mmm, one hour ago and you have not taken a break."
And he didn't intend to apparently because he kept trying to get rid of her hand. She lifted her hand away as he desired and sighed.
"I am almost done." He said.
She squatted down and scowled at him fiercely. There was no way he was almost done, not with the pile on the floor which was waiting for his attention.
"Your legs need to be soaked in warm herb water, you need to exercise. Your legs are now stronger but if you keep skipping your treatment it will stop working."
He was a workaholic and if he could, he would be sleeping in his office. Lately, he was also cranky, which Alix attributed to the stress of everything that had happened in the last few days. He needed to pause, take a breather and just relax.
"Wait, why are you here?" he asked her suddenly.
"Don't change the topic." She told him.
He held her hands and tried to lift her, encouraging her to get up. "No, really. What are you doing here?"
She got to her feet and sat down on the bed. "I am spending the night and you are going home. No arguments. There is no school tomorrow because it's a weekend so I can spend the night. I already talked to mother about it and she gave me the green light. You are going home, to sleep in bed."
As she said this, another thought crossed her mind. Why send him home when she could put him to sleep quite easily right from here.
"No, I have changed my mind. We should both spend the night here because I can keep a closer eye on you."
He raised his brows curiously and she shrugged.
"By the way, my family wants to come and visit grandma tomorrow morning. The Tai family not the Lin's." she made sure to clarify this. "Will it be okay?"
"I think so. But you should tell grandmother first about it. They will be her guests, not mine." He answered. "Speaking of the Tai's, you are supposed to be spending the night at their place. Aren't you going?"

"No, I called aunt Mo and explained."
"Xi Xi." Grandma Zhang's voice called out.
Alix stood up to go. "Mo Sen is bringing warm water for you to soak your feet and I called your doctor. Put the work aside. There will never be an end to it but your health, if it fails, it will mean an end to your good life."
As soon as she finished saying this to him, she loudly called out, "Yes grandmother."
She walked through the adjoining door and went into grandma Zhang's ward. Grandma Zhang was sitting up in the bed, leaning against a pillow that was protecting her back. A nurse was taking an IV drip out of her thin hand.
"I thought that was you." She said.
Alix went around the bed to the other side in order to avoid interfering with the work of the nurse. She gave grandma Zhang a one-arm hug and then sat down at the edge of the bed.
"Why are you here again dear?" she asked her.
"I am here to spend time with you grandma, why else?" Alix replied.
The elderly woman gave Alix a pity filled look. "You must be so tired, coming from the school to the hospital. I heard from Yura that the number of students in your school has increased greatly and all your classes are booked. It sounds like you have a tight schedule. You don't have to be here, you should be at home resting. There is nothing wrong with me at all."
"I want to be here grandmother. Being by your side is also a way of resting for me. I get to sit down and play games or practice my music in peace with no distractions. You also listen and applaud as you call yourself my biggest fan which boosts my ego. Trust me; I don't mind coming to spend time with you at all."
Grandma Zhang smiled. Alix figured she was in a great mood so she opened about the Tai's visiting. To her relief, the elder was okay with it so she sent a message to her aunt Mo to go ahead with the plans. That done, she paid attention to the patient she had come to visit.
"Grandma, I brought some food and rock sugar ginger tea. Have some."
The old lady suddenly looked at Alix with a keen eye.
"What?" Alix asked her.
"Xi Xi, the two of you have been married for more than a month already. Is there any news from your womb?"
