One hour later, a showered and dressed Alix was sitting on a bus between Wu Wei and grandpa Tai. Her eyes were closed and her head was leaning against Wu Wei’s left shoulder. She was sleeping again, deeply, as if she had not slept a wink during the night.

She was not the only one with her eyes closed however, some of the occupants on the bus were the same way. Some of the men even had sunglasses over their eyes, hiding the fact that they were sleeping or simply hung over.

A few workaholics like Caishen, chairman Tai and Yura were working while others listened to music, surfed the internet or watched others. Everyone was busy and the bus was mostly filled with silence.

They had to travel in a luxury bus prepared by Tai Fong because the family was very large. What had started out as a family outing for Alix and her brothers had turned into a family gathering of the Tai family including the brothers, their wives and children plus the Zhang’s.

To Alix’s great but unvoiced displeasure, even NaNa was following along. She was not on the bus, but a separate car with Zhang Xian.

The only reason why she was tagging along was because grandpa Tai invited the Zhang elders, forgetting that they rarely went anywhere without Zhang Xian and where Zhang Xian went, NaNa followed, even if she wasn’t invited.

What was unbelievable was that the Zhang elders had allowed this even though they knew Yura would be there. Not that Yura cared because she was having a good time with her new bestfriend Mo Qilu. The two had been even friendlier than usual since the previous night. Even now on the bus, they were sitting together, and one was sleeping while the other was working.

The bus drove over a hump and jostled slightly. Alix moved her head from Wu Wei to grandpa Tai’s shoulder. Grandpa Tai was reading a book, he looked at Alix and smiled fondly.

His eyes went back to his book while Wu Wei moved his shoulder in circular motion. He was also looking at Alix as he made this movement.

For an odd reason, Wu Wei likened Alix to Wu Gang in his mind. He had two siblings that needed careful looking after. He sighed and opened his backpack, taking out a book and a new packet of gummy bear candies.

Grandpa Tai turned his head and stared accusingly at the loud packet of gummy bears.

"Open slowly or you will wake your sister up." he whispered.

"Yes grandfather." Wu Wei replied, whispering as well.

Grandpa Tai laughed softly and stared at the gummy bears again. He wondered if the love for sweet things run in their blood since her brother had developed the habit as well.

The journey continued on for another forty minutes, and finally arrived at the destination.

Alix and grandpa Tai were the last people to get off the bus.

She was yawning and stretching as her feet touched down in the snow. A chill went through her and she pulled gloves out of her pocket.

As she put them on, she mumbled, "It’s cold."

"Whose bright idea was it to come here in winter?" Someone asked.

"I am staying on the bus." Tai Chang said.

He didn’t get back on the bus despite saying this. He stayed right where he was standing with his heavily wrapped up son in his arms.

Alix in the meantime realized that the theme park was unnaturally empty. A part of this could be attributed to the winter of course but not totally. This was a famous theme park in the country and even in winter, it received guests.

She had looked up information on the park and it could take up to one or two hours sometimes for people to cue just to enjoy a single ride.

"Where is everyone?" she asked.

"We booked the entire place." Tai Jiaan announced loudly.

"The one who contributed nothing is answering the question." Tai Ho Sun said.

His words elicited laughter from the older Tai brothers.

Alix wasn’t laughing as she was wondering how much it would cost to book this entire place for an entire day or couple of hours, depending on how long they planned to stay.

Tai Jiaan sidled up to her and he said,

"Sister, are you happy? You don’t have to wait in line at all because we have got rid of every obstacle for you. Aren’t we the best brothers in the world?"

His youthful face was filled with pride and it was beaming with a big smile.

"Again, you didn’t contribute to this." Tai Ho Sun emphasized.

He went so far as to poke the back of Jiaan’s head.

"I contributed in thought. Haven’t you heard people say that it’s the thought which counts." Tai Jiaan answered.

Tai Dalian looked away from his brother. He was so foolish if he was misinterpreting the meaning of that statement. The thought counted if you were the gift giver in this case. How could his thought count on someone else’s gift?

Aix put an arm around Jiaan’s shoulder and said, "Thank you little brother for your thoughts."

"Mmm, next time we should go to the zoo, water park or a resort." He suggested.

He smirked at Tai Ho Sun and said, "Our older brothers will take care of it. All you have to do is say the word and they will take care of it."

"Look at you making plans on our wallets." Tai Change tsked and scowled lightly.

Without shame, Jiaan pointed to himself and Alix and he said, "We are your younger siblings. It is your duty to spoil us."

"We are spoiling the only sister we have, not a fool like you." Tai Haoyu told him.

Alix saw Wu Gang getting back on the bus and she turned to Wu Wei. He was standing between Yuewei and Xiaobo but his eyes were following Wu Gang just like her.

"What’s wrong?" she asked.

In response, Wu Wei gestured with both hands on the right side of his face that Wu Gang wanted to sleep.

She nodded in understanding. If they hadn’t planned this little trip already, she would have stayed in and slept as well.

"Sister, let’s go to the haunted house." Tai Jiaan suggested.

Tai Jiaan was separated from Alix by grandma Tai as she said, "Hand my granddaughter over, we are all going to ride the tea cups."

Tai Fong was so alarmed as he imagined a big man like himself sitting in those tea cups. He whispered to Tai Ho Sun, "We are not going to ride the tea cups as well, are we?"

Tai Ho Sun held a similar alarmed look on his face and he shook his head.

"No, we are here to accompany our mothers, sister, the little ones and grandparents. We also have to accompany our brother-in-law since he can’t play on most of the rides. Other than that, I have no plans to ride anything that will take away from my coolness."

Tai Fong sneered at Ho Sun at the mention of his so called coolness. He looked the other up and down wondering if that was his reason for wearing all black with sun glasses as if he was some kind of actor playing the role of a spy and he he had come straight from a movie set.
