The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 53: The fish must pay rent
"I met your mother today."
After dinner, it was tradition for Alix and Caishen to engage in some form of conversation.
A new addition to their routine was Caishen soaking his feet in warm water infused with herbs which Alix provided.
He was sitting in a chair with his legs in a basin while Alix sat across from him with her legs crossed.
Both of them were already dressed for bed but she had a towel on her head and a lollipop in her mouth.
"I heard, she mentioned to me that you sold an original classic composition for five million. Congratulations, are in order." He mentioned.
She nodded and clapped for herself with a big smile on her lips.

"Thank you." She replied.
"Should I have come home with flowers?" He asked.
Nodding her head, she answered, "Yes. Now that you mention it I am quite sad that you brought me nothing.
I on the other hand bought you a nice looking jade ring."
"Are we competing in who has spent more money on the other? Or who has given the other more gifts during the duration of this marriage?" He raised both eyebrows and asked.
She twisted her lips and moved her eyes around.
"Who is competing?" She mumbled.
If it was a competition he would win straight up.
Smiling mischievously, Caishen suddenly said, "Now that you are rich, you should start paying rent."
"Huh!" Her mouth fell open and the lollipop dropped to the floor.
She bent down slightly, picked it up, dipped it in the glass of water on the table which happened to be Caishen's and then put it back in her mouth.
"How old are you?" Caishen asked her.
Why would she continue eating a sweet that had fallen on the ground. Was she a child? Only children did such things.
In fact, even Xiaobo would not do this.
"Old enough." She answered. "What is this rent you want me to pay?"
He eyed the offensive lollipop with a harsh glare wishing that he could rip it out of her mouth and toss it in the trash.
She was really enjoying the sweet as if it was the most delicious treat in the world.
Did falling on the ground make it tastier?
"I have no money." She took it out and told him. "I am as poor as a church mouse. No, even a church mouse can steal from the tithe but I have no such luxury. Unless______." She looked at him and giggled.
"Hubby Zhang can I be the church mouse stealing from your tithe?" She spoke coquettishly.
Caishen rolled his eyes at her and looked at the open laptop on the table.
Not looking at her, he said, "You should pay rent for that fish which is illegally living in my fish tank."
Alix's heart relaxed a bit. She may not have shown it but she was nervous when he asked for rent.
How could she afford to pay monthly rent for such a place? How much was it even?
"Twelve million, seven hundred thousand yuan." Her system informed her.
She drew in a deep breath and gasped. Who would choose to live in a place that cost this much?
Her previous rent was only five thousand yuan monthly and she thought it was too much but people were desperate to live in blossom courts at these prices!!
It was if there were two types of worlds. The world of the rich and that of the poor.
"You must pay fifty thousand in rent for that golden fish per month. It's for maintenance and feeding."
"But I feed it myself." She mumbled.
"Do you want me to throw it out?" He asked her.
"No." She shouted.
The old man she helped had said it was an expensive and rare gold fish.
She wanted to wait as it grew in size before selling it off.
He appeared to be very serious about it and she sighed sadly.
"Can I pay in installments?" She asked, hopefully.
"No." He told her. "Cash, at the end of every month. If you don't pay, baby will hold one of your canaries hostage. I will not be blamed if she decides to have an early dinner."
Aix gasped and stared at him as if she was looking at the devil himself. He was smiling charmingly as if this was the most amusing thing to happen to him in a while.
She pointed the lollipop at him and said, accusingly, "You are a gangster, Zhang Caishen."
"Did you not know that before you married me?" he answered with a smug face.
"No, all I knew was that you have a handsome face and big heart." She smiled beautifully and made a heart finger with her right hand.
He scoffed and laughed softly. Did she think that she was convincing a little child? What was the finger heart supposed to do?
"Your fish is still paying rent." he told her.
She pouted and put that offensive lollipop back in her mouth.
A timer on the table went off, and she walked over with a towel. She lifted his feet from the basin, one at a time and dried them with a towel.
"How do you feel?" she asked him.
"Tingly in the feet."
"That's good. If you can feel it then the medicine is working." She was still squatting down as she said this. She looked up at him, with a silly smile and asked, "Can my fish live rent free in your tank now?"
He smiled back at her, leaned his down slightly, just close enough to her face but too close to initiate any kind of physical contact.
He could however smell the fruity scent of the lollipop which she had decimated almost entirely.
The sudden closeness surprised Alix, and she held her breath in.
"Is he going to kiss me? I am not ready for this." she thought in her mind.
Caishen opened his mouth, "No." he said.
He raised his head again, laughing happily at the look of displeasure on her slightly red face. She was really fun to tease.
"Can you play me something?" He asked her as he moved his wheelchair closer to the bed.
She had sold a composition for that much and yet he had never had her playing anything.
Shouldn't he at least be familiar with some of her work as her husband?
