The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 68: A great duo
After fighting and finding their way through a dozen minion demons Alix and Dark death found their way to the middle of a dark forest in which every tree was bare of leaves and grey in color.
Even though it was just a game, it was an eerie place that made Alix feel uneasy. The trees for one had these round marks on their barks that looked like dozens of little eyes.
They gave Alix this feeling that they were alive and they were watching.
"It's coming." her system warned her.
The ground where they stood started to move as the roots of the trees on the ground shifted.
"It's coming." she repeated the words of the system to Dark death.
Both of them kept their keen eyes on the ground which was opening up and slowly turning red. Little spurts of lava popped up from the ground.
Alix's right hand gripped her flute and she stepped backwards. Dark death did the same, both of them avoiding the small stream of forming flava.
"System show me my song spells." she said.
Magical Song Spells. [Song of the canary, song of the swamp, song of the crabby serpent, song of light burst, song of dreams, song of five worlds.]
She had six song spells which she could play on her flute. The song spell of light burst alone had cost her one thousand points. It was an attacking spell, one she was confident would work in this case.

"Light burst." she made her choice.
"Are you sure?" the system elf asked.
"If you diminish my confidence by questioning me then we are both in trouble." she responded.
Next to her, Dark death started to vanish, disappearing into the darkness.
Alix was momentarily taken aback. Was she being abandoned?
"Dark death..." she called tentatively.
"I am here." she heard a voice in the wind. It came from next to her which meant that the assassin was still with her but she was using a special skill to camouflage herself.
"It will probably think I am here alone, smart." Alix whispered.
"I knew you were sharp. You catch on pretty quick cyborg." the assassin answered and she chuckled.
The parting of the ground completed and out of the large hole formed, a creature alighted. First, it's huge black hands that were the color of coal were seen first.
Using it's hands for elevation, the lava demon suddenly leaped out of the hole at once.
And just like that, in the middle of the dark empty forest, where twisted trees had eyes and bare branches which danced in the wind, Alix found herself face to face with a lava demon.
It towered over her, five times her small size with eyes that dripped dropped of flames which scorched the earth as they poured out like a tiny waterfall.
"A willing sacrifice, I have not seen a fool like you in ages." it said in a creepy hoarse whispery voice.
"Release the children you took lava demon or face your doom at the hands of this mighty bard." she replied, confident and without fear.
The lava demon raised it's head, looked up to the sky and laughed.
"A bard!!" it said in a mocking voice. "Of all the heroes to come to my ruins, a mere bard has come. Did you come to sing me some songs?" It laughed, again.
Alix's fingers tightened around her flute and she smiled smugly.
"Yes, I am here to sing. I hope you are ready to dance." she replied.
She put the flute to her lips and used a wind spell to put a distance between herself and the demon. She did not want to be squashed like a fly before she could even start playing.
A slow and enchanting melody was emitted from her flute, starting off warm as if it was her intention to put the demon to sleep.
"If you think that you will defeat me with such a weak song bard, you are a fool." The demon roared.
In rage, it spat hot red flames from it's mouth and nostrils.
Alix had already wrapped a shield around herself, the flames, she was confident would not touch her. She increased the pace of her playing instead, weaving a spell of magic into the empty forest.
With each note, her melody clashed against the flames, dispelling them with the white light from the magic of her song.
The demon released an energy which pushed her back and suddenly she was surrounded by flames. Nevertheless, she continued on, picking up speed determinedly.
The soft melody turned into a weapon, a dagger aiming for the lava demons heart.
It dodged and jumped to the side, but that's when Dark death moved, swiftly cutting off one arm of the demon.
True to it's name, lava poured out of the arm that had been sliced off, pouring down on the earths surface like blood.
"Two, there are two of you." It roared.
Faster, Alix's notes, fueled by desperation formed more and more daggers, dashed out in the middle of bright white light.
As she played,, she kept track of Dark death who was moving in shadows and darkness, taking the demon apart bit by bit.
Dark death managed to slice off one leg, and she brought the demon to it's one knee. The magic in Alix's song kept it down, wrapping itself around the demon like a vine, entangling it until it was completely weary.
Dark death, with a sword in hand approached the demon, ready to strike her final blow exciting Alix who had been expecting this to be a much tougher battle than it turned out.
As she came close to the end, reaching a crescendo, Alix leaped as well, aiming the sharp end of her flute for the heart of the trapped lava demon.
She struck and pierced the heart of the lava demon, just as it's head fell from it's shoulders and rolled away slowly.
She and Dark death stood still, heaving as they watched the body of the lava demon dissolve into a black ash and just like the guardian serpent, fade away.
In it's place were shiny red stones, and an open chest full of gold.
Alix and Dark death wasted no time in squatting down and each took from the loot what they saw as desirable.
The system too, was very active in this activity.
"That stone is useless on your world."
"That one can be sold."
"This can be traded later on."
The red stones, it seemed had different values as more than half of them were useless on earth. From the way Dark death was collecting them with a hum, they were useful on hers.
"Oh, there is something under the stones." she said.
She picked up a scroll.
"Infinite flame, level one." she read.
There was only one scroll but there were two of them.
"You can take all the gold if I can take this." Dark death suggested.
