Third Rebirth: Godsfall Apocalypse-Chapter 120: Pulse
[You have received: {D Class Godsfall Intent Elixir}]
—
Zarek had been holding onto this Elixir for a while now. He could have taken it already, but he hadn't, because he had been holding out for something better. Although he could change his Godsfall Intent in the future, much like everything else in this world, a redo wasn't all that easy—not when his Intelligence Growth Potential was so poor, anyway.
Usually, swapping out an Intent only required absorbing a higher-Class Godsfall Intent Elixir. But even when this was done and the previous Intent was suppressed, the lingering effects might result in the new one not taking hold as perfectly as possible.
For someone with high Intelligence Growth Potential, this risk could be mitigated a great deal because their natural control over Godsfall would allow a more seamless transition.
For someone like Priya, who could use any Godsfall Type so long as she absorbed it first, it was practically a joke to even worry about something like this.
As for someone like Zarek… well, once again, his Intelligence Growth Potential was too poor—so much so that even though he had met the bare minimum requirements to attempt to project his Godsfall now, he hadn't even bothered.
Just like he had said previously… he much preferred short-range weapons, and that preference extended to his Godsfall as well.
But right now, he felt like he had thought of something that could make him quite the monster. It would normally require expert Godsfall control that was far beyond him. But if he used it like one would use the Rigid Pulse and Bending Pulse Talents…
Zarek threw his head back and swallowed the Elixir whole.
There was a churning within him as he looked out toward the Blood Moon.
[Godsfall Eclipse Resonance] and [Limit Break] began to circulate uniquely.
In that same moment, Zarek took out the two D Class Godsfall Droplets he had taken from the Strength and Dexterity Types, swallowing them as well.
In the past, swallowing two D Class Godsfall Droplets would have probably killed him. But right now, it was like he had just taken a couple sips of water—[Tearing Gut] grinding them away until there was almost nothing left but perfect wisps of well-controlled energy.
The Godsfall from the Blood Moon and from the Droplets came together in a torrent, gathering with the Elixir and flooding into Zarek's body.
Godsfall was a curious thing. It didn't have its own organ system—at least not yet, and not without a technique of some sort… or a rare Talent.
Instead, Godsfall, for the time being, commandeered the organ systems that already existed, most obviously the circulatory system. The so-called Godsfall Pathways were really just blood vessels carrying the Godsfall from one location to the next.
Normally, in the future and as one progressed along the Classes, it would be advisable to try and form a Godsfall System of your own. Sometimes you could find techniques to do this, and at other times, you would have to rely on getting to the S Class first, wherein one tailored for you would be granted by the system.
Of course, it was far better to try and do things on your own.
However, in this case… Zarek suddenly felt like he would need one. In fact, it was even better for him that there wasn't one.
The Godsfall Intent was known as Lurker's Intent. It would form his Godsfall into the very same sticky black threads that the Lurkers used in his battles with them.
That elasticity and stickiness—that was exactly what Zarek needed. Because it would not only allow him to mimic the Bending Pulse Talent if used cleverly enough, but it would also allow him to emulate the Rigid Pulse Talent.
There was a reason Zarek's battle style was so sharp and so controlled. His understanding of his own body was on a level that others probably couldn't fathom—and likely one he took for granted as well.
But when one thought about it, what made muscles "rigid" when they flexed?
The entire body was just a series of levers and pulleys. Relaxing just meant letting one of those pulleys down, and turning a muscle "rigid" just meant pulling it up.
In that case, if Zarek began to use his tendons and ligaments to store up potential, increasing their elasticity with his Lurker's Godsfall, then he could force a more consistent output for his strength and power.
This method would be useless for his Intelligence and Charisma. But his Intelligence would be most occupied by the Lurker's Godsfall he was currently using.
Zarek's veins began to turn black, the pulsing lines in his eyes likewise doing so. It made the amber of his irises seem to stand out all the more, burning like brass in a furnace.
There was a beautiful sort of echoing light in them.
Zarek began to control the Lurker's Godsfall as it underwent a baptism, quickly approaching the limits of what was possible for the D Class as [Limit Break] influenced it more and more.
There was no hesitation in Zarek as he let the Godsfall rampage throughout his body. And then, he slowly coated his bones and tendons with his new Lurker's Godsfall.
Chi. Chi. Chi.
Zarek's eyes flashed as he felt it—the barrier of a C Class Godsfall Intent. But then he rammed into a wall—one that he could go over, and one he lacked the Talent to make it through.
It was right at that moment that Zarek grinned.
'Be useful, would you?'
At that moment, there was a shift to Zarek's Growth Potential and he tapped into Marx's S Class Intelligence.
He had been waiting all night for this. Things seemed to be happening so quickly, but Zarek had been staying right here for more than seven hours already, waiting for this one moment.
And he got it.
A barrier shattered, and Zarek's body pulsed with a raging might. Black lines slapped onto him, jetting out from his pores and layering onto his body like a skin tight suit of some sort.
