This Game Is Too Realistic-Chapter 544.3: 5th City?
"You're right... We can't keep expecting the city lord to solve all our problems." Spielberg seemed to come to terms as he said it.
Just as the man was about to leave, Chu Guang suddenly remembered something and called out to him. "Right, I said I’ll let you try on my equipment back then..."
He had almost forgotten something so important!
Spielberg stopped in his tracks, a little stunned by the offer. Then he chuckled awkwardly and replied, "Huh? Are you serious? I’m already thrilled to talk to you like this. That’s really not necessary."
He felt unworthy of such a gesture.
But Chu Guang didn’t mind. He walked over with a smile. "I'm not joking. You're already here, give it a try... Come, follow me."
Spielberg sheepishly nodded and followed Chu Guang out of the library, heading toward the elevator. Eventually, they arrived on level B3.
There, an azure exoframe stood waiting.
Staring at the open hatch, Spielberg carefully climbed inside. With Chu Guang’s help, the back panel and helmet visor were sealed shut.
Looking at the now more-than-doubled size, Chu Guang grinned. "How do you feel?"
The azure tin can stood frozen for a long moment, then a stifled voice echoed from inside. "I... I can’t move."
Chu Guang blinked, then smacked his own head. "Almost forgot... Little Seven, switch the exoframe on and boost the power output to 100%."
Little Seven’s voice responded in his ear, "Got it!"
As power surged through the exoframe from the cold fusion power core, Spielberg finally managed to move.
Although he still moved clumsily, like a drunken man, he still managed to move.
Seeing him like that reminded Chu Guang of himself back when he first got the exoframe from Shelter 117. A feeling of nostalgia filled his mind.
Since breaking through the LV30 barrier, he mostly used the power-saving passive mode, relying on his own strength to move the armor.
At LV40, he had grown so used to the weight that even without switching it on, he could move freely.
When Fang Ming initiated the self destruct sequence by saving Spielberg and betting the future on Boulder Town on their residents, he became a human.
But Chu Guang... It seemed as though he was becoming less and less human with his monstrous stats.
After experiencing the feeling of immense strength provided by the exoframe, Spielberg eventually emerged.
After moving his sore arms, he looked at Chu Guang hesitantly. Finally, he couldn’t suppress his astonishment and asked in a small voice, "You... Do you not switch on the power core most of the time?"
Chu Guang smiled modestly. "I do turn it on when necessary."
"Incredible..." Spielberg looked at him in awe, eyes almost popping out of their sockets. "You can actually wear it like clothes!"
How strong did the administrator have to be in order to do so?!
Now... He realized. He had underestimated Chu Guang. Maybe even if Bore wore an exoframe... He wouldn’t stand a chance against the administrator!
Chu Guang patted Spielberg’s shoulder and laughed, "So you see, this proves it, awakeners can destroy exoframes. Take that message back to your comrades."
"Your story wasn’t exaggerated at all!"
...
Boulder Town.
On the square at the boundary between inner and outer city, a group of dusty and ashen-faced people stood. All of them were black card holders.
Surrounding them were armed guards from the militia.
It was worth mentioning that Welon of the 1st Battalion had been found.
The coward had hidden inside a warehouse in the outer city in full exoframe, blocking the door tight. He probably planned to sneak out once things blew over, but forgot to turn off his tracker.
It was laughable. He hadn’t even served in the disciplinary squads and had completely forgotten that his armor even had that feature.
The militia, after taking the command center, had easily traced him down using his signal.
He had been the first to give the order to open fire. Even though his men had raised their rifles a little more than they should to fire over the heads of the protesters, some still died.
Now he knelt in the square, face ashen, eyes vacant. No one knew if he regretted the order... Or if he regretted not putting up a fight in his exoframe.
Maybe he could’ve taken a few with him... Well, maybe.
Ironically, kneeling there begging for forgiveness was the fortunate outcome.
General Zhao Yongxu had been killed during his escape, by mercenaries who wanted his stash.
Joey’s superior, Russel, hadn’t even gotten the chance to suit up. He had been shot by his own men during the uprising.
Of five commanders, only Welon remained.
He knelt alone. The rest of the black card holders stood, but their faces were still deathly pale.
There were 1,507 black card residents in total. 400 to 500 of them were under 16 years old, and over 300 were past 60 years old.
They all waited for the judgment of the angry crowds.
In the corner of the square, escorted by several comrades, Elisa finally found her family. She ran over in a panic. "Mama! Brother!"
Wolfur stared at her silently as she ran over. Then suddenly, he slapped her hard across the face.
PA!
Having not slept all night, Elisa’s head was already spinning. That slap left her dazed. She fell sideways and sat dumbfounded on the ground.
Two guards immediately pinned Wolfur to the ground. Furious, Joey stormed over and kicked him, cursing the coward. But Wolfur acted like he didn’t even notice.
He spat at Elisa, face twisted and bleeding. "Get out! You're not part of this family! Go die somewhere else!"
Covering her stinging cheek, Elisa stared blankly at Wolfur’s hysterical face. Tears welled in her eyes again.
But this time, she didn’t cry.
"Brother, what’s wrong with you?! She’s your sister..." Kishur glared at his older brother and stepped forward to help Elisa up, only to be held back tightly by their mother.
Glenys shook her head and gave her younger son a pleading look.
She didn’t know why. When the mob surrounded them earlier, she thought she was dead.
But seeing Elisa unharmed... She wasn’t as afraid anymore.
Even one surviving child was enough.
She just hoped they would only shoot her... and not do anything worse.
"Enough! Are you trying to beat him to death?!" A booming voice stopped the guard from further pummeling Wolfur.
Lorette strode over to the bruised man. He reached out to help him up, but seeing that twisted grin, he stopped. "I’m ashamed of you, sir." Lorette looked at the pitiful wretch with pity.
Even in their current situation, he thought everyone else was just as rotten as him.
"Then just shoot me!" Wolfur spat blood and stared him down. Glancing at the guards around him, he suddenly let out a crazed laugh. "Go ahead, shoot me!"
He acted like he already knew where he was headed. He wasn’t scared at all.
Lorette stared into his eyes. "I won’t do that."
"Why not?! Shoot me! Why won’t you shoot?!" Wolfur, who had been silent, suddenly shouted like a madman, reaching to grab Lorette’s shoe, only for Lorette to take a step back.
Lorette kicked his filthy hand aside, and the pity in his eyes slowly turned to contempt. "Why? You're still asking that question?"
"I’ve told you many times already, because we are not you."
Wolfur froze.
That line sounded so familiar.
Someone had said the exact same thing to him the day before.
Had these people rehearsed this?
Why does even their tone sound identical...
Lorette continued calmly, "If we wanted to kill you, it would be because you violated the law, not because I want to hack you to pieces and feed you to dogs. Although I would bet money that someone like you never took things like laws seriously, but we are not you."
Wolfur stared blankly at the bearded man, his lips swollen like sausages, looking utterly hollowed out.
Lorette paused for a moment, then spoke again. "We have a charter now. It’s not perfect, but we keep our word. If we say we want a new beginning, then we only want to start anew."
"We will confiscate your ill-gotten wealth, since it was taken from us to begin with. Don’t bother arguing, we’re already tallying the accounts."
"And from now on, you are citizens of Boulder Town. You’ll have to find work to support yourselves."
"Of course, if you’re scared of us, then pack your bags and get the hell out of here!"
