This Life, I Will Be the Protagonist-Chapter 1103 Wager Penalty
On Cat’s Ideal.
The five vice captains who had answered Calico’s horn call began to leave one after another. They had to return along the same route they came from. Before leaving Cat’s Ideal, each of them ran over to BS Rita.
"I am in Dawn. Remember to come find me."
"Meow. I am in Nuclear Flash."
"I will wait for you in Tingo."
"Fury. I am waiting for you to take me home."
"Tiger Ear. Tiger Ear. I cannot wait to get back on the ship."
Each cat quickly said which world it was currently in, then leapt onto the river surface and ran off toward where it came from.
Rita waved goodbye and thanked them one by one. At the same time, notifications began ringing nonstop in her mind.
(Player BS Rita has failed the demonic wager.)
(Time skills Backstage, Dragon Thief, Waste Guide, Temporal Stroll have been sealed.)
(Item Foolishness Game has been lost. Divine Talent Midnight Exile has been lost. Skill Mystic Force has been lost. Skill Moment of Reversal has been lost.)
Rita: ...
She hugged the robot and the dragon standing in front of her, crying even harder.
The Foolishness Game at her waist vanished. Two golden bullets fell from the roulette wheel, rolled a few times on the deck, and came to rest beside the golden bullet that had fallen earlier.
No. This was not fair.
She wiped her tears, then said seriously to Nivalis and the small Mechanoids, "Go back to BS and check if there is anything that needs handling. B80, you go home and recharge first. There is a spare power bank at home."
Earlier, B80 had helped her pull BS out. Its battery level had already dropped below the danger line.
The pets were all very obedient and left one by one. Rita stared at Calico, who was squatting in front of her licking its paw and pretending to be innocent.
"You go too," she said.
Calico stared at its captain in disbelief, clearly abandoned the moment the cat was no longer useful. "Do you have any idea how valuable my rally skill is?"
"How valuable?" Rita asked.
Calico pulled out the horn from its apron. It had already turned transparent. "I have to visit the main cities of one hundred world leaders and take photos before it can be activated again."
That horn was really brutal. It really was valuable.
Now Rita truly felt embarrassed. She patted Calico on the head. "Thank you. When I get stronger, I will take you around for photos. If you want to stay and watch the fun, stay."
Rita stopped paying attention to Calico and began to focus on filing an appeal. Reasonably speaking, she had completed at least eighty percent of the wager.
Only the very last Divine Game had not ended in first place, but in the two Divine Games after the wager she had taken first both times. She had even upgraded her Divine Talent before the third game ended. She had not had time to check it, but she clearly remembered that notification.
She did not even need to look for an appeal interface. The appearance of the third golden bullet was proof enough that all the gods had been watching her. Even if some of them had already looked away after the excitement ended, the ones who enjoyed drama were definitely still listening to her meltdown.
So she appealed by simply patting the deck and speaking aloud.
"Is this not a bit unreasonable?"
It really was a bit too much.
Gods and Demons Group Chat:
Foolishness: I think part of the punishment can be waived. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Deceitful Bloom: That violates the rules.
Foolishness: But she did complete part of the wager.
Deceitful Bloom: That violates the rules.
Foolishness: ...
Captain: You just want her to keep using Foolishness Game.
Bitter Cup: Still, it can be loosened a little. She was very close.
Deceitful Bloom: That violates the rules.
Drummer: Whoever is next to Deceitful Bloom, please turn off the passive aggressive auto reply.
Captain: I received a Divine Game notice. It says part of her punishment can be waived.
Bitter Cup: I received it too.
Hearthsmoke: Give her three exemptions and let her choose.
Foolishness: Only three?
Bitter Cup: You are worried she will not pick Foolishness Game, right?
Foolishness: Nothing like that.
Drummer: Three is already a lot.
Captain: I think it is fine.
Foolishness: Let us vote.
Deceitful Bloom: That violates the rules.
Bitter Cup: Divine Game has already approved it automatically. Four exemptions.
Deceitful Bloom: ...Please remember this moment. This is what it means to have connections above.
Drummer: Can someone turn Deceitful Bloom’s auto reply back on?
...
(Player BS Rita has partially completed the wager conditions. She may select four out of the following eight options as her reward.)
(Unseal skill Backstage)
(Unseal skill Dragon Thief)
(Unseal skill Waste Guide)
(Unseal skill Temporal Stroll)
(Keep divine toy Foolishness Game)
(Keep Divine Talent Midnight Exile)
(Keep skill Mystic Force)
(Keep skill Moment of Reversal)
Rita immediately shut up. She did not argue further. Four options were already very good. If she pushed her luck, she might even lose those.
She chose without hesitation.
(Unseal skill Waste Guide)
(Keep Divine Talent Midnight Exile)
(Keep skill Mystic Force)
(Keep skill Moment of Reversal)
Among the four time skills, Waste Guide was mandatory. This skill had helped her far too many times. Even if Cat’s Ideal were to reach SSS rank, it would still retain this skill. She absolutely could not lose it.
Of course, she could find a way to lift the curse herself. But just like before entering My World, when she knew full well that the game might not be winnable and still chose to upgrade Mystic Force without hesitation, some things could not wait even a second.
Temporal Stroll was also extremely useful. However, Wrathful Moon was upgrading. A rank upgrade would inevitably bring changes. Even if SSS rank Wrathful Moon still retained Temporal Stroll, that skill could wait.
The next mandatory choices were the Divine Talent Midnight Exile, the divine skill Mystic Force, and Moment of Reversal.
If any space could have been freed among those last three, she would have chosen Temporal Stroll instead.
With the four most important abilities returned, Rita’s mood finally cleared completely.
As for Foolishness Game? Foolishness did not want to give it to her in the first place. Who cared.
But there was still punishment waiting for her.
(You are DawnCicada’s target player. DawnCicada ranked first in this Divine Game. According to game rules, you will be converted into Vineborne and transferred to Dawn. Detection shows player is BS Adjudicator and cannot change worlds. Transfer failed. Player race will be converted to Vineborne. The first companion Vine will grow within the next seven Starsea days.)
(This growth process will consume a portion of the player’s attributes and power. Please prepare accordingly.)
Rita: ...???
Why DawnCicada?
Unlike what DawnCicada imagined, Rita did not react strongly to becoming Vineborne.
Her race was already complicated. During beta testing she had gained undead traits. Her companion lightning element also seemed related to Celestialkin. Adding one Vine now did not really feel like much.
With all the penalties sorted out, what Rita cared about most now was her new Divine Talent.
(Player BS Rita Divine Talent has upgraded.)
(Current Divine Talent is SSS rank. Romantic Deviation.)
