This Life, I Will Be the Protagonist-Chapter 1152 Divine Game Quiet Mountain 35
Upon learning through the battlefield chat channel that the Apostles of God, including QM Rita, were on their way to meet up with QM Kessa, Deceitful Bloom stopped wasting any more energy on hiding her intentions. Since the Apostles of God from Quiet Mountain had decided to team up and fight SS Rita, this meant that QM Kessa wouldn’t be coming alone to confront SS Rita.
The Apostles of God were not so devoted to Quiet Mountain that they would willingly sacrifice themselves for it, and the demon game wouldn’t issue a forced mission requiring its players to go to their death alone at a time like this.
Most importantly, now was the best opportunity. The Celestialkin were in disarray, and as a result, the climate of "Midsummer" was no longer stable. Each Celestialkin had their own weather system overhead.
Unlike before, when the Celestialkin’s elements were a tightly integrated whole, BS Rita could now easily sense these emotions and elements.
She led BS Rita to a quiet corner in the sea of flowers and said, "Now is the perfect time. Release your associated thunder element and use it to guide and control the elements above all the Celestialkin heads within the rain curtain."
Her tone was so serious that BS Rita, who had already witnessed the power of their combined techniques, no longer hesitated. She closed her eyes, and golden lightning poured down like a soft drizzle, entering the weather patterns above each Celestialkin’s head.
As the effects of the combined technique were about to fade, Deceitful Bloom gently raised her hand. A vine shot out, slicing through the flower crown murder that had just crept up on BS Rita’s shoulder, but it was blocked by a shield.
BS Rita, her eyes still cold and focused, looked directly at Deceitful Bloom.
Deceitful Bloom muttered impatiently, "We need to maintain the state with the combined technique."
Only then did BS Rita drop the shield, closing her eyes once again, allowing Deceitful Bloom’s vine to meet hers.
The white vine, made entirely of petals, scattered into a shower of flowers. It then circled around the vine filled with Flowers of Deceit, soaring high into the air. As magical energy poured in, the two vines began to grow at a rapid pace.
In the blink of an eye, a nearly one-hundred-meter-long white floral dragon coiled above "Midsummer." Its horns and pupils were like top-tier magical rubies, and white petals occasionally fluttered away from the dragon’s body. However, every time they drifted more than half a meter from the dragon, they would vanish into thin air.
A sneaky voice from Nivalis echoed inside Deceitful Bloom’s hood, "Why isn’t she using [Who’s the Master] to seize control, yet her vine still dominates? Does this mean she’s stronger than you?"
The dragon was starting to be protective.
Deceitful Bloom chuckled and snapped her fingers.
In an instant, ruby-red scales spread from the dragon’s horns, covering its entire body. The white petals, tinted with red, seemed to be shed dragon scales that danced in the air, creating waves. Eventually, they reformed into vines that wrapped around the dragon’s body.
Once she finished, she said, "Vineborne flowers are closely linked to their owner’s character and preferences. [Flower Crown Murder] focuses on transformation and absorption, while [Flower of Deceit] is all about trickery and control. The pattern we used earlier was more suited for attacking. Is there a problem?"
Nivalis replied, "...Forget I said anything."
Another snap of Deceitful Bloom’s fingers, and the flower dragon reverted to its previous form.
As the golden rain curtain expanded, the flower dragon’s range of movement also increased.
Nivalis asked, "Is there anything I can help with?"
Deceitful Bloom, who was scrolling through the battlefield chat channel, shook her head in response. She quickly tossed the question back at Nivalis, "Do you think any players will come to find her?"
After a moment of reflection, Nivalis thought back to what Deceitful Bloom had said earlier. She recalled the phrase, "There’s no such thing as two beings in this world whose interests are always perfectly aligned," as well as Ash Cinders and Mistblade.
While BS Rita, with her ridiculous antenna, sat in her room, Nivalis and B80 had been waiting for someone to find BS Rita—someone who could help pull her out of her dangerous state, someone who could ensure her safety.
Ash Cinders had come several times, and Mistblade had also paid a visit, but what could they do if they couldn’t find her? Surely, they couldn’t just abandon their tasks and focus solely on finding her, right?
Time and again, she and B80 had watched as Ash Cinders and Mistblade came to help, only to leave disappointed when they couldn’t locate her.
Then there was Lightchaser, who, after learning that her apprentice had tried to kill her, would she still come to help after knowing the apprentice had been taken away by an even more powerful deity?
And after all, this game allowed for resurrection.
If resurrection was possible, what was the point of all this extra effort?
Most importantly, BS Rita always preferred solving her own problems.
Just like how BS Rita never missed an opportunity to grow stronger, she instinctively rejected combined techniques that required cooperation with others to activate.
She disliked teamwork, disliked being helped, and disliked relying on powers she couldn’t wield on her own.
The child who cries gets candy, but BS Rita never cried for help. She cried for her own success, for the choices she made, but she never cried to ask others for help or used her tears to show weakness.
For a moment, Nivalis realized that she couldn’t think of a single reason why players would come to find her.
Deceitful Bloom couldn’t think of one either. She said, "We’ll only stay here for 12 hours. Tomorrow morning at 6, whether she understands the magical weather resonance or not, we’ll leave."
Nivalis asked, confused, "Is it really that urgent? Didn’t you say they wouldn’t arrive until the day after tomorrow?"
"I haven’t met QM Rita, but no matter how she changes, she’s still just another Rita. Have you ever seen SS Rita conspiring loudly?" Deceitful Bloom’s meaning was clear—she believed the information BS SmokeTune received was false. More boldly, the messages in the group might not even have come from the real BS SmokeTune.
Nivalis grumbled, "I thought you’d just arrogantly declare that she could take as much time as she wanted to figure it out..."
Deceitful Bloom’s expression momentarily stiffened, and she gave a forced smile. "...Quiet Mountain isn’t mine to command."
Despite her vast combat experience and years of accumulation, even with her strength suppressed beneath that of the gods, she could still handle four to five Apostles of God at once. But she couldn’t go too far. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
There were many strict but fair rules between the Star Sea and Quiet Mountain. These rules didn’t change regardless of who won in the previous era.
For example, in order for a player from Quiet Mountain to replicate the Uncharted Star Sea, certain prerequisites and costs had to be met. The ability for Uncharted Star Sea players to arrive in Quiet Mountain after The Bell Tolls was one of the costs for the latter’s attempt to replicate Star Sea players. But this was an opportunity for Uncharted Star Sea players, and an opportunity for Quiet Mountain players as well.
Deceitful Bloom’s arrival in Quiet Mountain wasn’t just because there was a portal left by Uncharted Star Sea from a few epochs ago; it was also because Quiet Mountain had modified the rules of the demon game to restrict and capture SS Rita, giving Uncharted Star Sea the right to retaliate.
However, if her actions in Quiet Mountain exceeded certain limits, Quiet Mountain could immediately expel her.
For instance, she could help BS Rita use a combined technique to disrupt the weather of "Midsummer," but she could not kill any resident of Quiet Mountain. She could fight against another player from Uncharted Star Sea, but she could not participate in battles between Uncharted Star Sea players and Apostles of God.
Deceitful Bloom explained all of this, whether out of boredom or to make a point to someone.
Nivalis asked, "So, can we let her spend more time understanding it? That way, she could use Cat’s Ideal to escape. If this is as important as you say, it’s worth taking a risk, especially since we can resurrect her, right?"
Deceitful Bloom didn’t respond. She neither confirmed nor denied Nivalis’s plan but simply stared silently at the flower dragon in the sky.
