This Life, I Will Be the Protagonist-Chapter 1168: Divine Game Quiet Mountain 51
The arrival of the StarSea players not only failed to help SS Rita, it became a liability.
Just as QM Rita had planned, the mind control coins no longer flew only toward Quiet Mountain players. With far more StarSea players present, the chance of them being affected skyrocketed.
This directly freed up Quiet Mountain’s combat power.
StarSea players posed no real threat to Quiet Mountain players. As long as they were not controlled by SS Rita, Quiet Mountain had countless ways to coordinate, survive, and deal damage.
QM Mistblade withdrew the effect of "Downfall" from SS Rita and instead applied it to the strongest players inside the cage. QM Maple Syrup did the same, using "Decay" on the weapons and equipment of StarSea players.
QM Rita released the cage once more. Hundreds of chains shot into the air, and all enemy targets inside the cage were forbidden from flying.
At the same time, QM JE acted again, dragging away most of the StarSea players and forcing them to attack only it. JE swam and flew between the water curtains in the sky, while StarSea players attacked from the ground. JE could hide behind the water curtain, causing attacks to miss and preventing skill chaining from triggering.
In contrast, attacks exchanged between Quiet Mountain players and SS Rita could still chain onto those StarSea players.
Mistblade ran across the ground, glanced left and right, then asked Fat Goose, who also played games, "Are we being treated like trash mobs?" 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Fat Goose was furious. "Absolutely we are. Mistblade, can you really stand this?"
She really could not. But under the current circumstances, unless she broke her seal and truly entered the fight, she was not qualified to participate. Otherwise, she could not beat a single Quiet Mountain player. And with so many StarSea players already causing trouble for that person, joining now might only become another obstacle.
Although 18 tier players like Nuclear Flash, NightFury, and Dawn Cicada were kept outside the water cage, meaning StarSea’s top combat power had not entered, Mistblade still clearly felt the gap between Quiet Mountain and StarSea.
Rita felt it too.
Just the fact that not a single Overlord level player had used a war skill was enough to explain it. War skills were clearly abilities StarSea had created specifically for large scale conflict, and they simply did not function in Quiet Mountain.
At this point, aside from a tiny number of super tier 15 players like Lightchaser, Ash Cinders, and Maple Syrup who could not advance because they lacked war skills, every StarSea player below tier 16 had already died. Even some tier 16 players had not made it.
She began to understand something.
Why StarSea gods, despite belonging to the same camp, were still divided into Gods and Demons.
Was it about creating gods, or creating demons.
Was the thing that could save SS the Divine Game, or the Demon Game.
Perhaps this was the true divide between gods and demons.
She did not know which side had more gods, but it was obvious that Uncharted Star Sea had chosen the former.
Four minutes had already passed since she entered phase three. Fewer than a hundred StarSea players remained on the field. Quiet Mountain players looked irritated, and their health bars fluctuated violently at times, but they were always pulled back at critical moments. Their condition was perfectly fine.
Rita’s advantage was already gone.
The balance that had tilted in her favor because of Wildfire Reignited had returned to a chaotic equilibrium.
The involvement of StarSea players completely disrupted the rhythm. As long as the mind control coins failed to hit Quiet Mountain players, especially QM Rita, QM Maple Syrup, and QM Mistblade, Quiet Mountain would never be forced into a stalemate.
Most critically, Rita’s third phase had a time limit.
When Party Value reached 100, the reignited wildfire would be extinguished.
Every time she controlled a player, Party Value increased by 5. With three coins active, that meant 15 Party Value per minute. In other words, phase three could last just over six minutes.
She could not be sure whether QM Rita had figured this out, or whether she was simply betting that this state had a limit.
Rita glanced at the Party Value. 75.
As QM Rita swung her blade again, Rita dodged and swung her dragon spine sword. With endless mana active, she used a combat technique without caring about the cost.
Single target combat technique, Symphony Movement.
The lightning in the sky transformed into a massive longbow. A golden bowstring was drawn tight, and an arrow formed from Flower Crown Murder settled onto the string.
From the moment the bow formed to the release of the flower arrow, less than a second passed. In that instant, the arrow shot forward.
When QM Rita turned her head, she only managed to see the arrow pierce through QM Tune and QM Mojie at the same time.
QM Tune and QM Mojie were both killed.
And through skill chaining, countless flower arrows appeared out of thin air, shooting toward every player inside the cage.
Yet Rita felt no joy at finally killing two Quiet Mountain players, nor guilt at the many StarSea players who died by her hand.
When she entered phase three, QM Rita had canceled the no revival setting. When StarSea players entered, Rita had also canceled the no revival rule from One-Person Party.
They fought and fought, but it felt like nothing could truly be decided.
The charm of games was that players always had a chance to start over. But the least charming thing about games was exactly that.
Perhaps it was not yet time for a Player Relic to become an actual relic.
With QM Mojie’s death, the water curtain disappeared. A deer cry rang out, and QM Tune and QM Mojie revived.
Party Value was already at 90.
At the final moment, Rita drove her dragon spine sword into the ground.
She quickly changed her approach. Since it was not yet the time for the final battle, she would return to her actual objective.
Destroy the Order Badge.
She used a skill.
Let It Die.
A luxurious meal appeared in midair.
She grabbed the lunch box with one hand. Petals and lightning in the sky transformed into twin dragons that circled her, protecting her. After setting everything up, she sat down on the spot and began eating at the fastest speed of her life.
Even if they guessed this was a skill, how could she be this shameless.
QM Rita, hovering in the air, asked in disbelief, "Did you just order food? At a time like this?"
QM Frenzied Shark asked curiously, "What is food delivery?"
StarSea Frenzied Shark said, "It means ordering food when you are hungry and having it delivered straight to your door."
QM Mojie shouted angrily, "This is too much. Rita... no, QM Rita, the other you is way too much."
Dawn Cicada, who had only been able to watch from outside the cage and finally entered the battlefield near the end, snorted coldly. "You are all exactly this kind of person."
With both cheeks stuffed full of food, Rita could not speak. She only had time to glare back at Dawn Cicada. Vineborne were really annoying.
"?" QM Rita said with growing displeasure. "SS Cicada dares talk to you like that?"
From the other side of the battlefield, QM Cicada shouted, "That is enough already."
