This Life, I Will Be the Protagonist-Chapter 1187: Divine Game, Divine Instruction 1
"The 23191st Divine Game, Divine Instruction."
"Game start countdown: 00:09:57."
"Game content: A chance to turn the tables. Prove that Uncharted Star Sea needs you."
"This game is a teaching session. Divine Game will assign gods as instructors based on each player’s answers. Each god may teach no more than ten players."
"In the final three days, a competition will be held. The competition rankings will be the final rankings of this Divine Game."
"Player pets may accompany players during training, but cannot receive instruction from gods."
"Game duration: 33 Starsea days."
"Special mechanics."
"All players’ health will be set to 100 points. All effective attacks deal 1 point of damage."
"All players’ four main attributes will be set to 1000 points initially. These attributes may only increase through course training. Attribute growth will not affect health or attack values in this game."
"Healing skills are disabled. Only gods may heal lost player health. Players may also wait for natural recovery. All players recover 1 point of health every 10 minutes."
"Racial language restrictions are removed. Players may communicate in the common language."
"Reminder."
"There is no absolute fairness in Uncharted Star Sea, and absolute fairness has never existed in the universe. If you feel unwilling to accept this, seize this opportunity."
"Prove to this Starsea that those above you are not stronger because they are more exceptional, but simply because they entered earlier."
After Rita finished reading all the rules, the text on the scroll slowly faded. New words appeared, the questions mentioned earlier.
"Question 1: Which combat style do you prefer?"
"Answers: Melee, Ranged, Healing, Custom."
Rita chose Custom and typed, "I like whatever my enemies fear."
Behind her, Nivalis whispered to B80, "Why has she been acting so cocky lately?"
B80 whispered back, "She got stronger. It went to her head."
Rita said calmly, "Whose little mouth is still talking?"
Nivalis and B80 fell silent. Still so old school. That joke was older than Rita herself.
"Question 2: What type of instruction do you want to receive?"
"Answers: Strict, Patient, Adaptive, Customized to player style, Custom."
Rita opened Custom again and typed, "Strong is good."
"Question 3: What combat style do you prefer?"
"Answers: Deceptive and adaptive, Brutal aesthetics, Beautiful funeral rites, Endless area damage, Staying alive means damage, Custom."
Rita smoothly opened Custom and typed, "I prefer staying alive while using deceptive, adaptive, high output violence to let one or more enemies experience the aesthetics of killing."
Nivalis whispered, "Couldn’t she just answer ’all of the above’? That’s what she means, right?"
B80 replied, "That would sound reckless, but her answer is full of linguistic art..."
They shut up. Rita turned her head. Her dark eyes looked at them quietly.
"Question 4: Do you have a preference for your instructor’s race?" 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"Answers: Yes, please specify. No."
This time, Rita hesitated for only one second before choosing No.
She had conflicts with too many gods.
Deceitful Bloom, Foolishness, the Captain.
Those three were among the eight special NPCs she had met in the Binast demon city. They corresponded exactly to the eight divine seats in the old temple.
Their strength was unquestionably extraordinary.
Grudges did not matter. Even if she were assigned to Deceitful Bloom, Rita was not worried.
Deceitful Bloom might be willful, but she always put serious matters before personal amusement or emotion. In Quiet Mountain, the first thing she did after taking control was order Rita to destroy the Order Badge.
In that regard, they were similar. If Deceitful Bloom had been able to fight back instead of only dodging and defending during the Quiet Mountain battle, Rita would not have acted against her after regaining her memories, no matter how angry she was.
"Question 5: Which type of game do you believe can save Starsea?"
"Answers: Divine Game, Demon Game."
This time, Rita hesitated much longer.
Her finger moved toward Divine Game, but at the last moment, she switched to Demon Game.
Uncharted Star Sea was far behind Quiet Mountain. Without the ultimate version of Wildfire Reignited, she could only fight QM Rita to a draw when QM Rita did not use her demon talent.
In the early stages of that battle, QM Maple Syrup and the others were waiting for the remaining divine envoys. They were not fighting seriously.
Even stepping back, the reason Rita could fight them at all was because QM Rita had been trained by the Demon Game.
If it happened again, she could not hold out. Even if she let Wrathful Moon stay outside to breathe freely, allowing Dark Side of the Moon to generate moon sand, days had passed and she had only gained a little over a thousand points of ultimate power from absorbing it.
She had no choice but to post a long term order on the exchange to buy moon sand.
"Question 6: If your world is destined to be destroyed, would you still be willing to survive alone and fight for Starsea?"
"Answers: Yes, No, Custom."
Rita opened Custom and typed, "I fight only for myself, and I will die only for myself."
If she fought, it was because she wanted to fight.
Not for BS. Not for Starsea. Not for anyone else.
Just because she wanted to.
As Kessa had said, let me die in battle, not to the bell.
The meaning of BS and Starsea was simply to give battle a reason.
"Question 7: Do you believe professions such as alchemy, jewelry, tailoring, and crafting help in combat?"
"Answers: Negligible, All knowledge can be turned into power, Custom."
Rita chose the middle option.
"Question 8: After Divine Instruction, would you be willing to do something for that god and their race?"
"Answers: Yes, No, Custom."
Rita frowned. Another attempt at moral pressure. She hated being forced into obligations.
She opened Custom and typed, "Tuition should be paid by Uncharted Star Sea."
"Question 9: If you die, would you allow Uncharted Star Sea to reclaim everything you possess, including but not limited to skills, items, curios, equipment, Player Relics, and special talents obtained or created by you, and grant them to players of the next era to fight for Uncharted Star Sea?"
"Answers: Yes, No, Custom."
Rita opened Custom and typed, "Yes, but bury me somewhere nice. Do not let any player disturb me. Also, the skills I created and the Player Relics I made may only be given to the most resilient and outstanding players."
Her typing slowed.
She looked to the rooms on her left, right, and across from her. Players inside were answering with solemn expressions.
At that moment, an image and a thought surfaced in Rita’s mind.
She wondered whether, in the previous era, players had stood in this same place, answering the same questions.
"Question 10: As of today, what does game invasion mean to you? A disaster, a miracle, an opportunity, or salvation?"
"Answers: Disaster, Miracle, Opportunity, Salvation, Custom."
Rita’s hand froze in midair. After a long pause, she typed a single word.
"Elegy."
