Chapter 963: 456
"Boom!"
The explosion, comparable to the Magic Guided Missile from before, blasted forth, proving the Son of Heaven’s defenses futile as his entire being was obliterated in the blast.
Simultaneously, the sphere of light continued to spread at high speed, engulfing nearly a kilometer radius around it, even the Blood Emperor, who attempted to flee to the other side, couldn’t escape the explosion’s range and was instantly overtaken and devoured by the sphere of light.
In an instant, every creature within the sphere of light’s range was reduced to ashes in the explosion.
Several seconds later, the white light dissipated.
At the locations where the Blood Emperor and the Son of Heaven had perished, there floated a Fire-red Feather and a battered cross, respectively.
For people of their status, it was, of course, standard to have resurrection items on hand. However, even among resurrection items, there was a shared cooldown period.
Within the same type of resurrection items, there was a cooldown period of a whole day. For instance, if one carried two Phoenix Feathers, after the first was triggered, the second would not be effective until a day later.
Even amongst different types of resurrection items, there was a cooldown period of about an hour. In other words, no matter how many resurrection items were prepared, within that one hour, no one could resurrect twice in a row.
At this point, the death of the two meant that their only chance for resurrection at this critical moment was used up.
Near the epicenter of the explosion, as the battered cross disintegrated, the Son of Heaven’s form reappeared.
The resurrected Son of Heaven intended to relocate immediately, but before he could act, he felt his consciousness locked by a strange force, rendering him completely immobile.
The Son of Heaven mechanically looked up.
Not far ahead, two Titans had, unnoticed, approached within a hundred meters of him – the female Titan and the Shield Giant.
The Son of Heaven could distinctly feel that the one controlling him was the female Titan.
The two Titans were quietly murmuring to each other in a strange language the Son of Heaven couldn’t understand, but he saw clear enough: The two Titans were debating whether or not to kill him.
The Shield Giant appeared to believe that the Son of Heaven, as the commander of this world, held value for parasitism and wanted to keep him alive for that purpose.
However, the female Titan thought the Son of Heaven was too dangerous and needed to be eliminated as soon as possible to prevent future threats.
After a clamorous argument, the Shield Giant seemed to be persuaded by the female Titan, changing its mind and turned, expressionless, to look at the Son of Heaven.
The Son of Heaven sighed, closed his eyes, and ceased any futile attempts to struggle. Whatever decision was made, his current paralyzed state left him no choice but to passively accept it.
The Shield Giant did not waste time either. Having made its decision, it immediately raised its massive fist towards the Son of Heaven and then smashed down.
"Boom!"
With one punch, the earth shattered, and waves surged.
However, this punch ultimately failed to hit the Son of Heaven, stopping instead about ten meters in front of him.
The Titan’s hand trembled slightly, and instead of continuing to smash forward, it was pushed back by some force, moving away slowly.
And as the Titan’s hand moved away, what was revealed beneath the Titan’s fist was a figure drenched in blood.
"Blood Emperor..."
The Son of Heaven uttered in surprise at the figure that appeared in front of him.
He hadn’t expected that the Blood Emperor would rush to his aid at the moment of his impending death, taking on the Titan’s punch for him.
However, a punch from the Titan was not so easy to take; it left the Blood Emperor’s life hanging by a thread as he entered a dying state.
Were it not for some force locking his life at just one point, he would already be a corpse.
Even so, the Blood Emperor was now trembling all over, bleeding profusely. This was because the immense impact of the punch was endured by him as he stood his ground, refusing to back down, resulting in the pressure overwhelming his body, causing blood vessels all over to burst open and spew blood, nearly submerging him into a bloodied figure.
The Shield Giant withdrew its fist, looking somewhat surprised at the little figure that had impeded its way.
But it didn’t take long for the Titan to swing its fist again, this time with even greater force, smashing down towards the Blood Emperor.
"Boom!"
Another dull thud, as the fist was once again intercepted by the Blood Emperor’s own strength.
The Blood Emperor spat out a mouthful of blood, blood spraying wildly as if it cost nothing, staining the surrounding ground a vivid red.
Yet the Blood Emperor held firm against the Titan’s fist, his body shuddering like a sieve, his stance shaky as if inebriated, his consciousness clearly blurring, and his leg bones showing abnormal twists.
Despite this, he remained steadfast, not retreating a step, bearing the Titan’s two consecutive heavy blows.
As the Titan withdrew its fist once more, the Blood Emperor swayed, just managing to keep from falling, but immediately lifted his head; on his face, now indiscernibly smeared with blood, he cracked a cold sneer, "What’s the matter, haven’t eaten? Big guy."
The Titan naturally didn’t comprehend the Blood Emperor’s taunt but frowned as it looked at the blood on its fist, not expecting that the seemingly fragile insect in front of it could withstand its blows not once, but twice.
Behind, the Son of Heaven, a witness to all this, knew things weren’t so straightforward.
He had noticed that the Blood Emperor was now surrounded by eight magatama beads instead of ten.
It’s worth noting that this set of the Blood Emperor’s signature equipment originally consisted of ten beads. The two that were missing had been depleted in the last two punches.
The Blood Emperor looked at the eight blood-colored magatama beads floating around him, a pained expression crossing his face.
