Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 109: Making It Official on Moments
"First, during the time I treat Old Mrs. Valentine, I don’t want to see you. Second, I want Stella Valentine to be my assistant. Third, I don’t want this matter to be known to the outside world."
"I agree to your terms."
"I will prepare the prescription tonight and gather the medicinal materials, and officially start the treatment tomorrow."
The phone rang again, and Vera Yves answered it while walking out.
Miles Monroe’s gentle voice came through, "Vera, are you home?"
"Something came up unexpectedly."
Her voice grew more distant, until her figure disappeared from view, only then did Winston Valentine walk towards the hospital room.
Tristan Valentine happened to exit the room, and upon seeing Winston, his expression was unreadable, his voice cold, "Since you’ve divorced, don’t entangle any further. You owe your uncle an explanation."
Winston Valentine replied sarcastically, "You didn’t divorce, yet you still have unresolved affairs with women outside. Are you qualified to lecture me on this?"
Tristan Valentin’s expression darkened, "Don’t forget whose blood runs through your veins. The Valentine Group can be given to you or to someone else."
"To whom?" Winston Valentine sneered, "To that fake daughter beside Cleo Sutton?"
"It seems you care quite a lot about my private affairs."
"Since you’re my father, of course I care about you."
Tristan Valentine eyed his son closely, "Did Melinda Shelby teach you to be like this?"
Winston Valentine’s gaze hardened, "From childhood till now, what exactly have you taught me?"
Tristan Valentine looked away, "I remember you liked Henry Sterling a lot when you were young. You even told me that if I could be there for you like him, it would be nice. How come you grew distant as you got older?"
Winston’s hand clenched tightly.
"You should know that over the years, I have had countless ways to divorce your mother." Tristan Valentine patted his shoulder, "At worst, it would be mutual destruction. Most importantly, I’ve always considered your feelings."
Winston Valentine sneered, "Should I be thanking you then?"
"Don’t treat me like your enemy." Tristan Valentine withdrew his hand, sighing, "You’re my only child. As long as you behave, my future is yours."
"What, have you forgotten your own daughter? The current one is fake, but there’s bound to be a real one."
"After searching for so many years, if she could be found, she would have been by now. If not, then forget it." Tristan Valentine cast him a deep look, "Even if she is found, she won’t impact your position at all."
Tristan Valentine quickly left.
Winston Valentine sneered. Given how much Tristan Valentine likes that woman, if they really found their daughter, how could...
Winston thought of Vera Yves, and he sat on a nearby bench.
Tristan was right; if they’ve not found her by now, they never have to! There is no illegitimate daughter of Tristan Valentine in this world, only the Yves Family’s precious daughter, Vera Yves.
Vera Yves returned to her apartment, sending Miles Monroe a WeChat message to let him know she was safe.
The next second, his video call came in.
Vera hesitated for a few seconds before answering, Miles smiling at her, "Don’t worry, my mom’s not in the hospital room. I just wanted to see you."
Vera positioned the phone at her face, "You’ve been looking at me the whole day, what’s left to see?"
"If I’d known you couldn’t be with me tonight, I wouldn’t have wasted time on paperwork."
Vera hesitated a bit, "Miles, Old Mrs. Valentine is sick, and the situation isn’t looking good. My grandpa treated her when she was ill before, and I..."
"You want to treat her?"
Vera lowered her voice involuntarily, "I’ve already agreed to help the Valentine Family treat her. If it bothers you..."
"If it bothers me, would you not treat her?"
Vera shook her head lightly, "If it bothers you, we can keep our relationship private for now and not meet up, so it wouldn’t be tough for you."
"Vera, I don’t mind you helping Old Mrs. Valentine. After all, she treated you very well in the past. If something happens to her, you’ll surely regret it."
Vera looked at him, moved.
"What I mind is your involvement with Winston Valentine." Miles looked at her helplessly, "After all, the one most likely to get hurt from being entangled with him is you."
"I’ve already put forth conditions that during the time I’m treating Old Mrs. Valentine, I won’t see him."
"Vera, since we’ve decided to be together, let’s be open about it, no need to hide from anyone." Miles smiled at her, "Moreover, I wish to see you every day."
Looking into his eyes that seemed as if they could melt with tenderness, Vera’s heart softened, a faint anticipation stirring within her.
When she married Winston, she skipped the dating phase; she had yet to truly experience romance.
The next morning, Vera got up early, visited a nearby Wellspring Pharmacy, and then a few more she frequented, buying so many herbs that the trunk was nearly full.
Vera also visited the Valentine house, where Stella Valentine was already waiting in the living room.
Staring at Vera wide-eyed, she exclaimed, "You’re the renowned doctor my third brother found?"
Vera smiled at her, "Yes, I am."
Stella was about to lose her temper but remembered Winston’s instructions. She bit her lip, "What is my third brother doing!"
Vera handed her a bag of herbs, "First rinse the herbs with water and soak them for an hour. Boil them on high heat, then simmer on low for half an hour. Pour out the medicinal juice, add half a bowl of water, simmer for another half hour, repeat the process, combine the juices, then deliver it to the hospital."
"What kind of nonsense is this?"
"Have it ready before eleven." Vera waved her hand at her, "Don’t delegate; the prescription only works when brewed by the granddaughter herself."
Vera turned and left.
Stella wanted to call for help, but the servants all retreated.
"Third Young Master instructed, do whatever Miss Yves says, do exactly as she instructs. Anyone who helps you will be dismissed."
Fuming with anger but aware that she needed the brew ready by eleven, Stella hurried to the kitchen.
Vera drove to the hospital, sneaking first into Miles Monroe’s room.
Miles was on the phone; after placing the brewed soup on the coffee table, Vera turned to leave. Noticing her, Miles said a few words into the phone before hanging up and gesturing her over.
Vera walked over, Miles took her hand, "Arrive and already leaving?"
"I have to go perform acupuncture on Old Mrs. Valentine."
Upon hearing that, Miles suddenly embraced her.
Vera was momentarily stunned, forgetting to react.
"Click."
She looked up, meeting his smiling eyes, "Posting on social media, making it official."
Her cheeks slightly reddened, she backed out of his embrace, "I’ll visit you again this afternoon."
She hurriedly left, leaving only a lingering fragrance in the air.
Miles glanced at the photo on his screen; it captured only their hugging posture, his profile, and the top of Vera’s head.
He posted the picture on social media with the caption: "Good morning, my girl."
Miles’s social media was typically filled with legal regulations and case shares; this was his first personal photo post, causing an uproar.
In the high school group chat, everyone tagged him and even posted a screenshot of his status.
"Oho, Miles Monroe seems to be in a situation!"
Miles responded politely, "Just a normal relationship, I hope for everyone’s blessings."
He also sent a massive red envelope.
Someone tagged everyone in the group to come out and send well-wishes.
In his villa, Winston Valentine’s phone chimed. Bored, he clicked on it, seeing lines of congratulations.
Winston scrolled up and up until he saw the photo, momentarily forgetting to breathe.
Coincidentally, someone tagged Winston Valentine, "President Valentine, we’re just missing your congratulations!"
