Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 185: Of Course I’m Here to Catch You
Miles Monroe paused for a moment, had she already left?
Zoe Monroe hurriedly helped him onto the hospital bed.
Mason Monroe looked at Zoe Monroe, "Zoe, your parents should be arriving soon, go meet them."
Zoe Monroe obediently agreed and left the hospital room.
Mason Monroe looked at him with a stern face, "When do you plan to close your law firm and join the group?"
Miles leaned against the headboard, his face pale, but his voice was firm, "I won’t join the group."
"Don’t forget, you promised me!" Mason Monroe looked at him disappointedly, "For a woman, look at what you’ve turned yourself into!"
Penelope Langley’s emotions had calmed somewhat, she sat down by the bed, wanting to pat Miles on the shoulder, but he avoided her.
Penelope looked at him in disbelief, "Miles, what’s wrong with you?"
Miles didn’t look at her, only speaking coldly, "The premise of agreeing to join the group was that you would agree to let Vera through the door."
Mason Monroe, upon hearing this, angrily said, "Didn’t I agree? It was you who ran away from the wedding!"
"Miles, Vera Yves is simply not suitable for you..."
"Enough! In your eyes, my feelings never mattered!" Miles looked at Penelope Langley, "You knew about Jane Shea’s suicide before the ceremony started, why did you wait until the ceremony to tell me?"
If he had known earlier, things wouldn’t have become so irreparable.
Penelope Langley replied calmly, "What’s the difference? You would have abandoned her anyway."
A deep sadness welled up in Miles, "You never agreed to let her in, so I don’t need to keep my promise."
...
Back at The Yves Family, Vera received a call from Yates Abbott, saying that the program director wanted to meet her and apologize in person.
With Yates Abbott as the intermediary, Vera couldn’t refuse.
In the evening, the three of them met at a Chinese restaurant.
The director was a portly middle-aged man who, upon seeing Vera, sincerely apologized, "Miss Yves, it’s my fault for not clarifying; Young Johnson conveyed the wrong message! We’ve already fired her, and we still hope you’ll continue with the subsequent recordings."
Vera responded coldly, "My temperament doesn’t suit your program; continuing might not be appropriate."
The director awkwardly chuckled, "Miss Yves, your ethereal aura fits perfectly with our program."
Vera just smiled and said nothing.
Halfway through the meal, the director went out to make a call.
Yates Abbott then said, "Now, because of you, the program’s popularity has skyrocketed with many people speaking up for you, so the team is eager for you to return."
Vera didn’t feel much about it; in any circle, people have always been eager to elevate the high and step on the low.
Yates Abbott continued, "Actually, this is a great opportunity; with high viewership, people will watch!"
Vera thought about the first recording; she did learn some things through communication, and her original intent was to exchange experiences.
Vera eventually agreed to resume recording.
Leaving the restaurant, Vera thought she was seeing things when she saw the man standing by the roadside.
Winston Valentine walked up to her, naturally taking her hand, "Aren’t you going to introduce us?"
Yates Abbott’s gaze fell on their joined hands, somewhat surprised. She naturally knew who Winston Valentine was.
"This is Yates Abbott, my childhood friend." Vera then looked at Winston, "This is my... boyfriend, Winston Valentine."
Yates Abbott smiled and extended a hand to Winston, "President Valentine, I’ve heard so much about you."
Winston politely shook her fingertips, "Editor Abbott, a pleasure to meet you."
Yates smiled at Vera, "I’ll be off then, let’s keep in touch."
Vera also smiled and waved goodbye.
Once Yates’s car had driven away, Vera looked at Winston, "Why are you here?"
"Of course, to catch you." Winston lowered his head to look at her, "Come back to the villa with me?"
Vera pulled back slightly, "I don’t want to."
"Then I’ll go back to The Yves Family with you."
"Why do you want to come with me to The Yves Family?"
Winston looked into her eyes, his gaze deepening, "I remember your bedroom has a double bed too."
Vera pushed his face away, "You remember wrong."
Vera withdrew her hand to run, but the next second, she was hoisted onto the man’s shoulder. Surprised, she exclaimed, "Winston, what are you doing, put me down!"
"I told you, I’m here to catch you."
Winston directly bundled her into the car by the roadside. Vera tried to escape from the other side, but he pulled one of her legs over, and in the next moment, she was straddling him.
Vera pushed on his shoulders, trying to get down, "My car is still outside the restaurant."
"I’ll send someone to get it tomorrow."
Vera blushing, feeling both embarrassed and annoyed, "Is that all you ever think about?"
Winston held her waist, "Vera, I’m a normal man. You can guess how long it’s been since I’ve touched you; my patience has its limits."
Vera pressed his hands, "Did I ask you to endure?"
Winston paused, "If only I’d known you were this eager..."
"That’s not what I meant!" Vera’s face turned serious, "After the divorce, you didn’t abstain because of me." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Then, who was it for?" Winston caught her small hand.
"Obviously for your Cecilia Vaughn."
"I never touched her." Winston moved closer, "You’re the only woman I’ve ever wanted to touch in my life."
Vera clearly didn’t believe him, "Back then, if it was another woman who came into your room, you would have touched her just the same."
"Vera, even if I was drugged that night, I knew the woman I was holding was you." Winston gently caressed the corner of her eye with the pad of his finger, looking into her starry eyes, "If it were another woman, you’d already know the outcome, wouldn’t you?"
Vera recalled the things Cecilia Vaughn had said to her and retorted deliberately, "That’s because you cherish her."
"If I want it, I want it; if I don’t, I don’t." Winston’s finger moved to her luscious lips, "Why make so many excuses?"
Vera was about to say something when her lips were sealed.
The domineering kiss brought his breath over, and Vera, unable to endure it, leaned back, only for Winston to hold her waist, pursuing her lips.
The car drove into the villa, and Winston wanted to carry her out, but his right hand was somewhat weak, so he changed his posture, letting her wrap around him, while his left hand supported her as he carried her inside.
Entering the door, Winston placed her on the cabinet beside him and gently kissed her.
With disheveled clothes, Vera found her brain somewhat oxygen-deprived from the kiss.
Winston looked at her dazed eyes, whispering persuasively beside her ear, "My hand hurts, finish undressing yourself."
Hearing this, Vera blushed fiercely, "No way!"
"It really hurts." Winston continued to coax her, "Strip for me, will you?"
With trembling hands, Vera undid a button.
Winston kissed her lips again, then stepped back, his fervent gaze lingering on her.
Unable to bear his gaze, Vera suddenly jumped off the cabinet, attempting to run away.
Winston swiftly caught her from behind, wrapping his arms around her waist, "This is all my territory; where can you run to?"
Gentle kisses fell behind her ear, and Vera, ticklishly dodging, said, "Take a shower first."
Winston, beside her ear, rasped, "Shower together?"
