Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 19: Only Knows How to Heal and Save
Vera Yves pushed him, "You’re drunk."
Winston Valentine randomly tugged at her clothes, "Do you know what I hate most about you?"
Her clothes were in disarray from his tugging, Vera Yves blushed as she grasped his hand, "Winston Valentine, what drunken madness are you spouting?"
"Even though you don’t have me in your heart, you insist on pretending to be deeply in love with me." Winston Valentine looked at her with mocking eyes, "Isn’t it tiring?"
Three years of marriage, everything she tried and sacrificed, was it all an act to him?
The warm palm roamed over her body.
Vera Yves couldn’t push him away, "Winston Valentine, I’ve never pretended anything."
"You’re not pretending?" Winston Valentine reacted as if he’d heard a joke, "You know how much I despise her! Why did you help her?"
If she had even a bit considered him, she wouldn’t have agreed to Tristan Valentine!
Not waiting for Vera Yves to answer, he kissed her lips. His kiss was domineering, with a hint of punishment, and Vera Yves could only passively endure it.
When the kiss ended, Winston Valentine coldly said, "Go tell Tristan Valentine that you can’t treat that woman!"
When she agreed to Tristan Valentine, she already foresaw that her future days with The Valentine Family wouldn’t be easy. But what else could she do? It was he who forced her step by step to make this choice.
Vera Yves’ voice was calm, "He helped Mark Yves, I can’t go back on it."
Winston Valentine ground his teeth, "Is his help even necessary? I’m giving you one last chance, tell him you can’t treat her!"
Vera Yves turned her head aside, "One must keep their word."
Winston Valentine resisted the urge to strangle her, saying mockingly, "You’re so stupid, how did you manage to scheme against me in the first place?"
"I didn’t..."
Her lips were kissed again, and Vera Yves had no opportunity to speak.
Winston Valentine intentionally punished her, his actions were not gentle, leaving Vera Yves aching all over when she woke up in the morning.
Melinda Shelby’s people were already waiting outside. As they saw her come out, they took her straight to the hospital.
After a series of examinations, it was already nearing noon.
Melinda Shelby held the examination results and threw them harshly at Vera Yves’ face, "The results say you’ve never been pregnant, what’s going on?"
Vera Yves looked at Melinda Shelby in surprise. Normally, it should be difficult to determine if she had a miscarriage from the exams she took.
"So, you were faking pregnancy all along!" Melinda Shelby looked at her angrily, "Oh, Vera Yves, you truly used any means necessary to marry into a prestigious family!"
Vera Yves’ face turned pale.
When she was drunk and had that absurd night with Winston Valentine, she was found by Hannah Hayes in the morning. Hannah Hayes clamored for Winston Valentine to take responsibility for her; she knew she hadn’t been forced that night and barely managed to keep Hannah Hayes from going to The Valentine Family to settle scores.
After all, at that time, all of Imperia knew that The Valentine Family was selecting a wife for this heir.
Afterward, she took contraceptive pills, but later her period was delayed, so she went to the hospital for a check-up.
The test results turned out to show she was pregnant, and coincidentally, the media caught photos of her going in and out of the hospital. Hannah Hayes found her test report and went on a rampage at The Valentine Family.
Old Mrs. Valentine had a favorable impression of her and wanted a great-grandchild, putting pressure on Winston Valentine, who later agreed to marry her.
Who knew that three days after their marriage, her period would come.
She still remembers when she went to tell Winston Valentine the truth, he was sitting in a chair in the study, sunlight poured in from the window, spilling over him, his entire being emanating cold indifference.
After the wedding, Winston Valentine always slept in the guest room, and that day was their first meeting since the wedding.
She nervously told him her period had come, and the pregnancy was just a misunderstanding.
Winston Valentine’s gaze moved from the documents to her face, scrutinizing for a while before speaking slowly, "So, how do you plan to end this?"
She was completely bewildered, instinctively shaking her head, "I don’t know."
She thought he’d surely resent her deception, end this mistaken marriage, and even retaliate against her and The Yves Family.
In fact, if not for that child, she wouldn’t have agreed to marry Winston Valentine.
But he merely gave her a cold look, "If you want to continue being Mrs. Valentine, then swallow this matter."
She later went to the hospital, where they only told her it was a misprint to dismiss her.
A week later, Winston Valentine moved back to the main bedroom; when he pressed her down at midnight, she still wasn’t able to react.
Aside from that night with him, she’d never had intimate contact with another man, her whole body was stiff.
He didn’t have much patience, only looking at her coldly, "Since you’re not pregnant, you should fulfill your marital obligations. I didn’t marry you to be a decoration."
Even though the pregnancy was a misunderstanding, it became the leverage forcing him into marriage, and now it was inevitable.
From his perspective, this marriage was calculated by her, and his indifference was natural.
And from her perspective, if not for the Yves Family’s aggressive push, at least he could have married a woman he liked; she always felt guilty towards him.
That’s why for three years, she tried very hard to be a good Mrs. Valentine.
She never thought that one day this issue would be brought up again.
Returning from her memories, Vera Yves opened her mouth, "Mom, I..."
"What?" Melinda Shelby interrupted her, "I’m going to The Yves Family right now to ask them, after educating you for so many years, is this the shameless daughter they raised?"
Vera Yves hurriedly said, "My parents didn’t know about this!"
"Then I have all the more reason to talk to them properly!" Melinda Shelby turned to leave.
Vera Yves followed her, "This is all my own fault, I beg you, don’t go to The Yves Family!"
"Now you know how to beg me?" Melinda Shelby turned back, her wet eyes filled with deep hatred, "When you agreed to Tristan Valentine to treat that whore, didn’t you think to ask my opinion?"
Vera Yves was startled by the hatred in her eyes, stepping back half a step.
Melinda Shelby sneered coldly, "Do you know what it’s like, after being married for years, to watch your husband always have another woman in his heart? I’ve waited so many years, she’s finally going to die and you insist on saving her!"
Vera Yves was shaken by the hatred in Melinda Shelby’s eyes; thinking of Winston Valentine’s gentle care for Cecilia Vaughn, she felt heartache but never thought of hating Cecilia Vaughn.
Melinda Shelby looked at her coldly, "If you want to continue being Mrs. Valentine, then make sure that woman dies under your care!"
Vera Yves instinctively shook her head, "I only know how to treat patients and save lives!"
Melinda Shelby seemed to have expected her answer, and she wasn’t as agitated as earlier, "When you got married, it was a fake pregnancy, so why haven’t you gotten pregnant in these three years?"
Vera Yves didn’t know how to explain.
Melinda Shelby chuckled, "Is it because Winston knows you faked the pregnancy?"
Vera Yves’ voice was strained, "Yes."
Melinda Shelby leisurely said, "I know my son, you used a child to deceive him into marriage; how could he let you bear his child?"
Vera Yves’ face became even paler.
"Not to mention, he still has Cecilia Vaughn in his heart."
Melinda Shelby’s gaze slowly fixed on her, "Since Winston hasn’t said anything about the fake pregnancy, I can pretend I don’t know too."
Vera Yves was somewhat surprised, would Melinda Shelby let her off?
Naturally, she wouldn’t; Melinda Shelby straightened her clothes and said unhurriedly, "However, the old lady is eager to have a great-grandchild. Since you can’t give birth, we’ll find someone else."
