Chapter 597: Chapter 492: Fujin’s Death, Rage, Thinking as One

Muraoka did not respond to Panasonic Toyoshige’s words.

Panasonic Toyoshige looked at him somewhat strangely.

"In the urgency of the situation, I neglected some details," Muraoka murmured to himself before looking at Panasonic Toyoshige and saying, "Fujii has been in charge of the orchard for so many years, and being a cautious man, he definitely had some evidence that could implicate you."

Panasonic Toyoshige did not argue, as he had guessed this already, "Yes, but he’s already dead."

Since Fujii had proved with his death that he wouldn’t betray him, what was the point of worrying about those pieces of evidence?

As long as they didn’t fall into the hands of the police.

"Yes, he is dead, but he didn’t hand over the evidence before he died. Since he would rather die than betray you, what was the point of keeping that evidence?" Muraoka asked expressionlessly.

Panasonic Toyoshige instantly guessed the reason Fujii had done this and sighed, "Ultimately, I was too hasty in trying to save my own skin, and I let him down, making him distrust me. It’s not his fault!"

Fujii trusted him, but he didn’t dare trust Fujii completely, forcing the man into suicide, which in turn caused Fujii not to trust him as much.

"We need to retrieve the items and destroy them, and destroy anyone who has come into contact with them," Muraoka said coldly, as if discussing a trivial matter.

Panasonic Toyoshige frowned, somewhat reluctantly, "Just take back the things from Fujii’s house; what has Mrs. Fujii done to deserve this? He just died for our sake, and now we’re going to kill his wife?"

Even he, a bad person, thought this was too evil.

"Do you dare bet that Mrs. Fujii hasn’t hidden or backed up some of it? Fujii was willing to die for his wife and children, which shows the depth of their marital relationship. Do you dare bet that Mrs. Fujii won’t reveal the evidence after her husband’s death and bring you down with her?" Muraoka asked indifferently.

Panasonic Toyoshige was momentarily at a loss for words. He felt Mrs. Fujii wouldn’t do such a thing, but he didn’t dare to bet on it, and after a long silence, he sighed, "We’ll act after receiving the news of Fujii’s death, but don’t hurt his two children; I will take care of them as they grow up."

His hypocritical nature was fully displayed, which fully justified Fujii’s caution.

"With Fujii dead, the police will think it’s pointless to continue protecting and monitoring Mrs. Fujii for sure, and will withdraw their surveillance. We’ll move in immediately before dawn to avoid complications."

.........

"Ding-a-ling! Ding-a-ling!"

In the early morning, Aoyama Xiu Xin was woken up by a series of urgent ringing tones. He sat up from the bed, glanced at his sister-in-law who was still sound asleep, and walked toward the balcony of the bedroom while answering the phone, "Speak, what’s up?"

"Senior Police Director, Fujii is dead, suicide. He bit off his tongue and suffocated, and his body is right next to me now," Shinichi’s tone was low and annoyed.

"Dead?" Aoyama Xiu Xin intuitively raised his voice, glanced back at his sister-in-law, saw she wasn’t awakened, and breathed a sigh of relief, "I’m on my way now."

After hanging up the phone, he rubbed his temples irritably, not rushing to notify Oda Take and Fujimoto Takayoshi, changed his clothes, and hurriedly left.

Upon arriving at the police headquarters, he headed directly to the cell where Fujii was detained; by then, the corridor outside was already crowded.

"Chief of Police Aoyama Xiu Xin is here!"

Seeing Aoyama Xiu Xin arriving, everyone immediately lined the walls, bowed, and greeted him.

Aoyama Xiu Xin, in a foul mood, did not respond and quickly entered the cell with a grim face.

Fujii lay on the bed with bulging eyes, his expression somewhat fierce and distorted, evidently, the process of biting his tongue and committing suicide had been agonizing, his jacket stained dark red with blood spilling from his mouth, blood still trickling onto the floor.

"This guy was tough, waiting until he made sounds before the guards came to check. They called an ambulance immediately, but it was too late; he was already dead before the ambulance arrived," Shinichi stepped closer to Aoyama Xiu Xin and explained.

Looking at the gruesome death of Fujii, Aoyama Xiu Xin was silent, his face like still water. Now the most important lead was gone, making it even harder to find evidence linking Panasonic Toyoshige to the human organ trafficking case.

Shinichi pursed his lips, feeling a bit guilty, and continued, "Senior Police Director, I have an inescapable responsibility for negligence. I shouldn’t have allowed him to see his family. I should have realized that him requesting this was meant as a final farewell, but I overlooked this."

"He saw his family?" Aoyama turned to look at Shinichi, "He negotiated seeing his family with you?"

"No, a policeman injured his mouth during his arrest, and the lawyer threatened based on this. I didn’t want to be distracted, so I agreed to give him ten minutes," Shinichi explained, quickly adding, "I arranged for someone to monitor the entire time."

"Where’s the person who was monitoring?" Aoyama asked.

A policeman, visibly anxious, stepped forward and saluted nervously, "Reporting to the Senior Police Director, it was me."

"What did he talk about with his family? Was there anything strange?" Aoyama asked sternly.

Although the visiting room had surveillance, the footage was blurry in those days, and if they spoke softly, the surveillance couldn’t record the sound simultaneously. The observer could pick up more details than the surveillance.

Facing Aoyama’s inquiry, the policeman’s forehead sweated, his eyes flittered, and he stammered, "Just...just normal husband and wife talk, nothing...nothing unusual..."

"Smack!" Before he could finish his words, Aoyama, who had been watching his facial reactions closely, already saw through everything. He slapped him hard across the face and cursed furiously, "Idiot!"
