Tokyo: My Superpower Refreshes Every Week-Chapter 742 - 740: The Young Lady’s Lifelong Drive for Excellence
September 27th, Wednesday.
The sky above the Imperial Palace was scattered with a few white clouds of various shapes as the crisp sound of the alarm clock woke Maggie from her slumber.
She turned off the alarm, leaping gracefully off the bed, and walked barefoot toward the wardrobe.
She took off her warm gold pajamas and changed into the uniform of Brilliant high school.
The black tie turned into a bow tie shape, resting smartly on her full curves.
She bent down, slipped black stockings over her fair, jade-like legs, and with a flick of her index finger, the stockings snapped onto her thighs, leaving alluring lines.
Maggie walked out of her bedroom.
The butler and maids were already waiting in the hallway.
After washing up, she arrived in the spacious Toyomei-den.
The buildings of the Imperial Palace were mostly interconnected by corridors.
Outside the corridors, one could see various scenery, from evergreen tall trees to cherry blossom trees that couldn't stop the autumn vibe.
As Maggie stepped inside.
Dandelion-shaped chandeliers hung from the ceiling, always lit regardless of day or night when someone was present.
Kochou sat there, with a delicate breakfast set on the table, consisting of various cakes paired with two glasses of freshly squeezed juice.
She stepped forward and bowed, "Good morning, Mother."
"Mm."
Kochou nodded and said, "Last night at 9:41, the Holy Lord executed the Executioner, and then Dio appeared and drove the Holy Lord away."
She recounted the events of last night briefly.
Maggie raised an eyebrow, a bit surprised, "I didn't hear much commotion. Did they fight quickly?"
"According to reports from the scene, Dio attacked while the Holy Lord was unprepared and shattered him.
According to Dio, the Holy Lord can distort death's reality, so the Holy Lord isn't dead. His whereabouts are currently unknown."
Kochou paused for a moment before continuing, "The change in the magnetic field at the scene has been recorded by researchers who are trying to study how to alter the machine's magnetic field.
The replica of the shield held by Emily has also been completed.
Unfortunately, there's no special energy, possibly due to different materials."
Maggie listened quietly to her mother's account, choosing not to interrupt since she wasn't well-versed in such matters.
Nor did Kochou seek her opinion, simply informing Maggie of the events.
...
After breakfast, Maggie headed to Brilliant high school.
At the school gate, she saw a banner raised in the autumn wind, the ink-written word "Strong" billowed in the breeze.
That's her own handwriting.
The pen's strength was more pronounced than in friendship or victory.
"Good morning, Phoenix Academy."
Kyoichiro Furusawa greeted, raising a hand.
Maggie glanced at him, noticing darker circles under his eyes, "You're okay, right?"
"Don't worry, such minor things won't trouble me."
Kyoichiro Furusawa responded confidently.
As a student council member, he was involved in organizing the sports festival while fulfilling his daily responsibilities as a discipline committee member. He also served as the Red Team captain, discussing which events the team should participate in.
A heavy workload lay on Kyoichiro Furusawa's shoulders, leaving his dark circles unrelieved to this day.
Yet, his eyes and voice remained spirited.
Maggie said no more, realizing she had time today to help with organizing the event list to ensure the Red Team's victory at the sports festival.
She headed to the club building, went to the third floor's manga club, and opened the door.
Inside, two friends were already seated.
The sunlight outside was faint, and she smiled, "Makoto, aren't you concerned about Kyoichiro? His dark circles are so dark."
"No worries, every year during the sports festival, that guy is always that busy."
Makoto Nomura waved a hand, not concerned about any trouble.
Maggie teased, "Speaking like a long-married couple~"
Makoto Nomura, hearing Maggie teasing her about Kyoichiro Furusawa again, retorted, "Oh, my dear lady, did you cook carrot stir-fry for Aozawa today?"
"Too bad, I didn't."
Maggie shrugged, spreading her hands.
Yesterday, she was busy escorting Emily, leaving no time for carrot stir-fry.
A dish isn't just about having ingredients.
It takes time to fry it well.
To ensure taste, she chose stewed pork with preserved vegetables.
This dish was completed last night.
Even faced with great danger, she couldn't be stopped from going home to cook for Aozawa.
"Eh, what a surprise. I thought you'd make carrot stir-fry."
Makoto Nomura was surprised, thinking Maggie was contemplating a dish change for Aozawa when she asked what boys prefer yesterday.
"You aren't trying to fool me, are you?"
Speaking, she stood and attempted to search Maggie's bag.
Phoenix Academy Maggie didn't mind, casually leaving it to her, letting her pull out the braised pork with preserved plums prepared for Aozawa.
"You didn't follow the steps I mentioned, did you?"
Nomura True Wave expressed a new perspective.
Phoenix Academy Maggie rolled her eyes and said, "Of course not, I absolutely didn't have time to do all that."
As soon as she finished speaking, the door suddenly made a creaking sound, not fully open yet, "Maggie~"
The clear voice slipped through the door crack, and Phoenix Academy Maggie suddenly felt a twinge of guilt, unsure why, quickly snatching the lunchbox from Nomura True Wave's hand and stuffing it into her bag.
Then, she turned around, her doll-like face showing a hint of indifference, and said, "Do you need something?"
Ayatsuki Ayaka pushed the door completely open, smiling broadly, "Maggie, I wanted to ask if you'd like to join the cheerleading for the opening ceremony?"
Before the sports festival at Brilliant High School, the girls always form a cheerleading squad to perform a dance and boost the boys' morale.
Regardless of Red, White, and Blue, all girls can join the cheerleading team to cheer for all three teams!
Ayatsuki Ayaka, not only the captain of the White Team, led the cheerleading dance and wanted to pull Phoenix Academy Maggie in.
Phoenix Academy Maggie shook her head, saying, "I'm not interested, so go ask someone else."
"Eh, really?"
Ayatsuki Ayaka's eyes flickered with a hint of disappointment as she glanced at Nomura True Wave and Yoshikawa Sayuri, asking, "Are you guys interested?"
Yoshikawa Sayuri was indeed interested but shook her head, considering her challenging dance talent.
Nomura True Wave spread both hands, saying, "I'm not interested either."
"I see, bye then."
Ayatsuki Ayaka didn't push further, closing the door again.
The manga club then reverted to the secret space of three individuals, Nomura True Wave resting her face on her hand, smiling mischievously at Phoenix Academy Maggie, "Your speed in snatching the lunchbox earlier was really fast."
Phoenix Academy Maggie kept a straight face, asking, "What would you like to say?"
"No-thing~"
Nomura True Wave purposefully spoke word by word, her eyes slightly narrowing, clearly expressing something with her smile and expression.
Phoenix Academy Maggie felt quite vexed but knew her reaction wasn't great earlier, even herself unsure why she didn't want Ayatsuki Ayaka to see the lunchbox she prepared for Aozawa.
That inexplicable sense of guilt felt as if doing something wrong, afraid of getting caught by the rightful owner.
Darn it, Phoenix Academy Maggie sighed inwardly in frustration; preparing a lunchbox for Aozawa shouldn't be something to hide, right?
She pondered.
If it happens again, she'd likely repeat those actions.
This realization left her rather dejected.
...
The autumn breeze brushed past the window as Aozawa stepped into the classroom through the back door.
Peter and a bunch of students gathered there, boasting about how he must shine at the sports festival, leading the White Team to victory.
The bragging stance was such that anyone unaware might think Peter was the White Team's captain.
As Aozawa stepped into the classroom, a question crossed his mind: who was the Blue Team's captain?
Compared to the Red Team's captain Furusawa Kyoichiro and the White Team's captain Ayatsuki Ayaka, the Blue Team's captain seemed rather obscure.
Maybe he hadn't paid attention to those matters.
Thinking it over, not knowing who the captain is wouldn't affect the sports festival tomorrow.
Aozawa moved forward, pulled out a chair, and Phoenix Academy Maggie quickly turned around.
Instead of a pencil case, Aozawa's index finger was there.
Just in the nick of time, Phoenix Academy Maggie covered it with her hand next to her chest, armored like, forcibly pushing the index finger aside, glaring, "Indecent."
"Sacred and inviolable private territory; I'm just rightly protecting the desk against your encroachment."
Aozawa confidently replied.
Phoenix Academy Maggie ignored his explanation, raising her hand to pat his shoulder, as a form of punishment.
Aozawa wouldn't mind a few hundred more of such punishments, preferably targeting different areas.
But such words were definitely unspeakable.
Aozawa chuckled, "Tomorrow is the sports festival, will Aunt come?"
"Mother has no time to come."
Phoenix Academy Maggie shook her head.
Since childhood, she hadn't seen her mother attend any school activities, not even the parents' meeting, always having someone substitute.
Aozawa wasn't surprised about this result, reminding her, "Tomorrow, Chitose will come to watch the sports festival at school."
This sentence burst like thunder in Phoenix Academy Maggie's heart, but she kept a calm face, saying lightly, "Oh, really? With such major events happening in Tokyo recently, I thought she'd be too busy to come as Minister of State."
"No matter how busy, every year at the sports festival, Chitose always comes to watch my competitions."
Aozawa explained with a grin.
Seeing his smiling face brought a streak of jealousy in Phoenix Academy Maggie's heart, which was then swiftly overtaken by a fighting spirit.
Since Morimoto Chiyoda is coming to watch the sports festival, her performance cannot be lacking; she must dominate all events.
Cannot show weakness before a romantic rival.
Even with Arakawa Reina, Ayatsuki Ayaka, Hojo Shouko participating in the four rounds of trials.
She must not lose.
Phoenix Academy Maggie's gaze turned incredibly fierce, like two knives stabbing Aozawa's cheeks, her competitive spirit blazing on her form.
Of course, Aozawa understood her fighting spirit and gaze weren't aimed at him, internally chuckling; the young lady is indeed determined and strong-willed.
