Chapter 801: Chapter 486: Pandora’s Box

No one was at the urinals in the restroom.

Abe Rokuro was certain they were in the restroom. There was no second exit here, so they were likely hiding in one of the stalls.

He bent down and peered through the gap at the bottom of the stall doors.

Nothing... Nothing... Nothing...

Found it.

There were two pairs of feet under the third stall door. One in front, one behind. Abe Rokuro imagined two grown men huddled together in a stall, wondering what position they could be in now...

Could it be that Horie Kei was helping Fujihara Councilor’s "second brother" to pee?

Abe Rokuro shivered, walked into the adjacent stall, climbed onto the toilet, and peered down into the next stall just in time to see Horie Kei strangling Fujihara Councilor with a tie.

Fujihara Councilor was once skilled in Sword Dao and had quite a rank in Judo, but now, in middle age, he was drained of strength, his body weakened by indulgence and alcohol, and he was unable to break free from the stranglehold due to being under the influence.

Abe Rokuro was shocked, immediately jumping into the stall to pull Horie Kei’s arm.

Unexpectedly, Horie Kei suddenly released Fujihara Councilor, pulled a folding knife from his pocket, and stabbed it backward toward Abe Rokuro’s neck.

Abe Rokuro reacted quickly, raising his hand to block, but he failed to grasp Horie Kei’s wrist, resulting in the knife piercing through his palm.

"Ugh!"

Abe Rokuro, afraid of pain, completely forgot about solving the case, promotions, the honor of the Police Department, and his seniors’ instructions. With his blood-covered hand, he cried out loudly: "Help! Help!"

Fujihara Councilor, deprived of oxygen, collapsed to the ground. His chest was still rising and falling, but he was unconscious.

Horie Kei didn’t expect Abe Rokuro’s first reaction to be calling for help and hastily reached out to cover his mouth.

Abe Rokuro flailed his arms wildly to fend off Horie Kei’s hand, shouting and struggling: "Someone hurry! Councilor Fujihara is in trouble!!"

Seeing that he couldn’t stop him, Horie Kei turned to stab Fujihara Councilor again.

Abe Rokuro clung to his arm, letting out a shrill scream. The security guards stationed at the door heard the commotion and rushed into the restroom, kicking open the stall door, stunned by the scene inside.

They saw Abe Rokuro wildly flailing his bleeding hand, splattering blood over Horie Kei, attempting to blind him with the blood. Though uninjured, Horie Kei was covered in blood, with plenty in his eyes, causing him to lose his bearings and blindly swing his folding knife.

The two men flailed blindly at each other.

The security guards came to their senses, pinning down Horie Kei, intending to immediately escort Fujihara Councilor to the hospital.

Before they even left the restroom, Fujihara Councilor was jolted awake, clutching the urinal and vomiting, spewing out all his dinner and drinks from the evening.

"What’s going on... What happened?"

Fujihara Councilor groggily lifted his head, and the bodyguards quickly briefed him on the situation, advising that he should seek medical attention immediately.

"I’m fine..."

Fujihara Councilor brushed off the bodyguards, stood up, and made a few calls to contacts at the Police Department. Then, he looked at Horie Kei and Abe Rokuro, noting the blood covering both, acknowledging the fierce struggle moments ago.

In his mind, he imagined the scene of the two young men battling closely, blow for blow, wound for wound, feeling a chill run through him.

Before the criminal police from the Police Department arrived, Fujihara Councilor had already privately learned what had happened.

Upon discovering that Rokuro was helping a senior outside of work to monitor a suspect, he immediately respected the bravery of this young man.

Consequently, Fujihara Councilor firmly promised that he would ensure Abe Rokuro achieved his goal of becoming a criminal police officer.

This young man was qualified, and his efforts deserved a reward.

As for the perpetrator, Fujihara Councilor was far less lenient.

He had the bodyguards clear out the men’s restroom, hanging a "Cleaning in Progress" sign at the door. They subjected Horie Kei to water torture repeatedly, dunking him in the toilet to force a confession, pressing him to honestly reveal how he obtained his itinerary.

Horie Kei, though looking weak and frail, proved to be tough, maintaining a stubborn will despite the repeated water torture, albeit in a sorry state:

"You owe me."

Horie Kei consistently replied with just that one sentence.

By the time the criminal police from the station arrived, Horie Kei was already in a coma, lying motionless in the restroom, soaked through. Being veteran criminal investigators, they only needed a glance from Fujihara Councilor to understand what had happened, thus opting not to speak on the matter.

The criminal police dispatched to investigate immediately connected the incident to the series of murders targeting politicians. They first took everyone present at the crime scene back to the station for statements, temporarily detaining Horie Kei in custody, and promptly reported to the Special Investigation Department.

The elites of the Special Investigation Department initially weren’t concerned, as Horie Kei’s name was absent from their extensive list of suspects.

Only when Horie Kei personally confessed that "Heaven’s Punishment" was his handiwork did the Special Investigation Department begin to take the situation seriously.

...

Abe Rokuro went for emergency treatment at the hospital. He wasn’t severely injured, and the doctor bandaged his wound with gauze and discharged him.

He hurried back to the station and, just as he entered the office, encountered the Special Investigation Department assembling.

Outside the door, a group of middle-aged men dressed in black suits filed in, each wearing a solemn expression, exuding an aura of "owing them eight million," their eyes gleaming as if they could kill with a look.

Abe Rokuro felt a wave of nervousness, still in his casual clothes and fearing he’d be mistaken for a suspicious person. He was about to reveal his identity as a Patrol Police officer, but the members of the Special Investigation Department rushed past him without giving him a second glance.
