Transmigrated as Cannon Fodder — I Rise to Female Lead Through Hard Work-Chapter 15: Don’t Touch Me
Cute? Ding Ancheng slightly frowned and leaned over to pick up the basket of wild vegetables half-filled by Yi Roujing, "Let’s go back."
After walking a few steps and realizing no one followed, he turned to look, "Keep up, the bamboo forest mostly has bamboo rats."
"Ah, ah, oh." Yi Roujing flew over to Ding Ancheng’s side, following closely.
"Why are the mice on the mountain so big?" Yi Roujing said, still in shock.
"That’s a bamboo rat," Ding Ancheng patiently explained once again.
"It’s a rat anyway," Yi Roujing mumbled, anything with ’rat’ in its name scared her.
"Sister-in-law, are you okay now?" Ding Anmin noticed Ding Ancheng and Yi Roujing approaching and walked over to Yi Roujing to ask.
"Heh, heh, stay away from me and I’ll be fine." Ding Anmin picked up the bamboo rat; Yi Roujing didn’t want to be too close to her now.
"Hey," Ding Anmin glared at Yi Roujing and said in a voice just the two of them could hear, "This time you were high."
To hell with being high, Yi Roujing really wanted to curse; she was genuinely afraid, okay?
Surely Ding Ancheng thought the same? Yi Roujing glanced over; there was someone expertly cutting pig grass.
Whatever, think what you want; anyway, she’s upright and not afraid of shadows.
Ding Anmin cheerfully went back to cutting pig grass, the bamboo rat in her basket was causing a fuss, and she punched it back, "Big brother, we can have an added dish tonight."
"Hmm."
Today’s work lasted only half the day, and the time flew by. Finally, Ding Ancheng carried two baskets to the warehouse, while Ding Anmin and Yi Roujing carried their baskets home first.
"You need to skin it completely, hey, aren’t you the best at this? You skin it," Ding Anmin said to Yi Roujing.
"Stay away from me." Yi Roujing looked at the bamboo rat rolling its eyes in the basket, and goosebumps rose all over her.
"Are you really afraid of this?" Ding Anmin suddenly found it odd once Ding Ancheng was around.
"Duh," Yi Roujing rarely cursed, "Otherwise, would I scream like that?"
Ding Anmin scratched her head, "I thought it was your high-level tactic to attract my big brother."
Yi Roujing rolled her eyes. "Tomorrow morning, I plan to cook brown sugar, longan, and eggs."
"Brown sugar, longan, and eggs!" Ding Anmin’s eyes widened immediately and then pretended to return to calm, "If you want to do it, just do it, why tell me?"
"Aren’t you in on it too?" Yi Roujing countered.
Ding Anmin was a little excited and blushed slightly, "Oh."
"So now keep it away from me," Yi Roujing stated her purpose.
"Simple." Ding Anmin knocked the bamboo rat unconscious with a punch, placed it in the basket, covered it, and put it in the kitchen, "Just stay out of there."
Yi Roujing was satisfied.
The sun set in the west; the Ding Family returned, dinner was made, and that bamboo rat gloriously became part of the meal.
"Weren’t you afraid of this thing?" Ding Anmin couldn’t resist asking when she saw Yi Roujing taking the third piece of bamboo rat meat.
"I’m afraid of the living ones; what’s there to fear when they’re dead?" Yi Roujing replied seriously, "Besides, it scared me today; I’ve got to eat more to calm my nerves."
...
This day was slightly eventful, but overall, it was good. Yi Roujing had a feast, so after washing up and lying down, she let out a long sigh of relief.
Could she live a life like this every day, going to work? After a day and a half of work, Yi Roujing began to reflect. Though she read that book, nothing in it compared to real experience, and being alive meant things would inevitably change.
Most importantly, she needed to find a job. After all, earning work points wouldn’t last forever; she couldn’t just farm after land is allocated to households.
The reestablishment of college entrance exams is just two years away; retaking the medical university exam shouldn’t be hard, but she shouldn’t squander these years and ought to explore.
"Squeak—"
Yi Roujing’s thoughts were interrupted; seeing the person coming through the door, she froze for a moment before sitting up immediately, hugging the quilt tightly around herself, "You walked into the wrong..."
"That’s right, for someone who’s gotten married, sleeping with your brother is ridiculous."
Yi Roujing’s words were swallowed by Ding Weihuo’s deep voice from the yard.
Ding Ancheng closed the door, wearing a sleeveless shirt on top and shorts below, his hair still dripping, a towel half-draped over his shoulder.
His limbs, hidden by clothes earlier, were now exposed, slim with clothes and muscular without, with elegantly shaped muscles. Wow, who would’ve thought a teacher had such a great body?
Yi Roujing cheerfully admired for a moment before realizing her current predicament and losing interest, "What do I do? Should I go find Anmin?"
Yi Roujing’s facial rejection was evident. While Ding Ancheng’s expression remained unchanged, his heart felt a bit tight, unknown what the feeling was, just a bit irritable.
"Just sleep like this, don’t move near me," Ding Ancheng said casually.
Yi Roujing stood in shock, hearing what she thought she had heard...
Yi Roujing’s expression amused Ding Ancheng, "You sleep inside."
Yi Roujing hadn’t moved when Ding Ancheng already sat down, causing the palm bed to sink slightly. Yi Roujing hastily rolled inside two turns, "This quilt is mine."
Ding Ancheng got up, opened the room’s cupboard, took out an old quilt, and laid it beside Yi Roujing, then quietly laid down.
Yi Roujing’s body shook slightly from the movement, though the bed wasn’t small, a person next to her couldn’t be ignored.
Never having shared a bed with anyone before, Yi Roujing was entirely stiff, with the constant heat emanating from beside her, her face surely glowing red as if bleeding.
Ding Ancheng was quiet; Yi Roujing turned right to face away from him, feeling more at ease but couldn’t help reminding, "You should wait until your hair’s dry to sleep."
Soon, Yi Roujing felt the person beside her got up, accompanied by the sound of wiping things in the room.
So obedient, Yi Roujing was a little surprised.
Twenty minutes later, Ding Ancheng lay down again.
It’s impossible to fall asleep so early; Yi Roujing was a bit restless, inevitably turning unintentionally, but the person next to her stayed still; Yi Roujing felt noisy herself, lying flat, starting to brew sleepiness.
Thinking she wouldn’t fall asleep, within moments, she lost consciousness.
The person next to her kept a steady and smooth breath; Ding Ancheng moved, turning to face the purely sleeping Yi Roujing, slightly frowning.
It couldn’t be denied, this time meeting Yi Roujing felt different from before. Actually, Ding Ancheng didn’t really know her before; she just appeared in front of him frequently, speaking unclearly, blushing like an apple, having met countless girls with good feelings, he never took her seriously.
Who knew after helping her, she’d cling to him, and after setting the wedding date, she came more frequently, feeling less fond of her, not to mention the two never really talked.
