Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game-Chapter 155: The Divine Healer [ 2 ]
"Clementine...?"
"That’s a very bold statement."
With a frown, Adam approached Clementine, stopping before her.
"Do you prioritize arrogance or experience? Putting the life of another person in the hands of a complete beginner is something that will not happen on my mountain."
Despite his harsh words, Clementine didn’t back down.
"That’s why I’m asking you to teach me."
Right as Adam opened his mouth to reply, Clementine sang a single beautiful note.
A faint breeze washed over me, and in an instant, I felt my body become lighter, and the faint muscle strain simply vanished.
That added a smile to my face.
"I’m the Queen of Sirens. I can treat people’s injuries and soul damage. What I can’t do is heal them."
She narrowed her eyes.
"But I would be able to if you taught me how."
With that, a heavy silence descended on the mountaintop.
I was completely in Clementine’s corner.
After all, I knew just what she was capable of.
But I also knew a lot about the Divine Healer Adam, since out of all the 12 Calamities, he was one of the only ones Kevin could talk to freely outside of quests.
Though, it seemed like he wanted to play ’that’ card.
"I’m sorry, but even if I wanted to, I can’t teach you. My healing techniques are only possible because of the gift that I have. Since you—"
I cleared my throat, interrupting Adam.
The moment he turned to me with a slightly annoyed look, I said:
"Adam Joel. 33 years old. One of the 12 Calamities. You have the title of Divine Healer. Most importantly, your Gift is Blacksmith, and every tool you own is made by none other than you."
"So, Divine Healer, I would appreciate it if you gave Clementine’s request more thought."
His eyes widened as he glanced past me and at Aliyah.
Just then, Aliyah placed her sharp katana on my neck and muttered ominously:
"Not more than five people know Adam’s Gift... Yet you do. Amon, explain yourself."
I let out a chuckle and flicked away the tip of her blade, then met her gaze.
"I don’t owe you any explanation, and don’t expect to force it out of me. I didn’t come here to threaten anyone, nor did I come here to be a pushover. There are things I want, and things I am willing to give for whatever I want."
I turned my back to her and locked eyes with Adam.
"In exchange for teaching Clementine about the procedure, I’m willing to give you the location of a Rainbow Lotus Flower. It is what you’re looking for after all, isn’t it?"
The moment I uttered those words, Adam froze.
Because of that, I knew I hit the right mark.
In the game, there was a main quest in regard to Adam.
Gather 10 Rainbow Lotus Flowers.
Upon completion, you’d get max affinity with the Divine Healer, and in turn, you’d be able to make him join your party.
In a way, that’s what I was aiming for.
And the reason why he’s so desperate for these flowers was simple.
"You’ll succumb to your illness in less than a year if you don’t accept this deal."
It was oddly poetic in a way.
The Divine Healer is sick with a nearly incurable illness.
The same person who can cure everyone can’t cure himself.
"As an added bonus, I’ll give you the location of one more Rainbow Lotus Flower if you take Clementine as your disciple and teach her everything you know."
I let the offer hang in the air for the moment and subtly glanced back at Aliyah.
Just like Adam, she was speechless.
The only reason the two of them broke up was because Adam found out about his illness, and instead of telling Aliyah, he hid it from her.
He evaded her, refused to sleep with her, and eventually... he began prioritizing healing others over spending time with Aliyah.
I remember the conversation I had with him in the game very well.
Adam sounded very sad and heartbroken when Aliyah and he broke up, but since he wanted her to move on and not cling to a dead man, he kept the secret until his final breath.
Yet even in the routes where he was cured, he didn’t tell her, as he wanted her to live a happy life.
But not now.
I was hell bent on changing the future.
I didn’t want Adam to die.
I didn’t want Aliyah to go into the Demon Realm by herself and needlessly die to some Demon Kings.
No.
If I wanted to be a total fuckup, I would’ve stayed on the Elodrenia continent and followed in Kevin’s footsteps.
"Adam... What’s he talking about?"
He remained silent.
Aliyah clenched her fists to the point I could hear her bones crack.
Then, she approached Adam, who was staring at the floor, and lifted him up by the collar.
"What is Amon talking about?"
"..."
"I..."
Adam slowly raised his head, a look of regret appearing on his face.
"Aliyah, please. You don’t want to know."
"Yes, I do, jackass. You either tell me, or Amon’s going to tell me. I better hear it out of your lips rather than his."
She shook him like a piñata until he nearly vomited.
And only then did she set him down on the ground, crouch down in front of him, and stare straight into his eyes.
"Tell me."
There really was no way out of it.
He was cornered.
And as expected, after a brief pause, Adam finally spoke.
"...Five years ago, after our fight against the Water Demon King, I was infected with Demonic Energy corruption."
"I tried everything I could, but it turned out my body’s really unfit for demonic energy, especially the type that came from a Demon King."
He lowered his head again.
"Drinking Demon King blood, Vampire King blood, and even asking our Great Sage to brew me a few potions... Nothing worked, and all my attempts did was reduce my lifespan further."
"Braum knew about this, and he didn’t tell me anything?"
Aliyah stepped back, her expression turning to one of anger.
"You two are unbelievable. I trusted you. Was my trust a joke to you?"
It seemed like he couldn’t muster up the courage to reply to her.
So instead, he took a deep breath and continued explaining himself.
"Braum and I found out about an ancient recipe for a potion that would give someone complete immunity to Demonic Energy, and for that potion, I needed 10 Rainbow Lotus Flowers."
"But even after 5 years, I’ve not found a single one."
He eventually glanced back and blankly smiled at her.
"I’m sorry, Aliyah."
