Transmigrated as the Novel's Final Boss-Chapter 18 - :Questing [3]
Chapter 18: Chapter 18:Questing [3]
Why me?
Out of the billions of people on Earth, why was it me?
People love to say that they'd love to be transmigrated into a fantasy world, just like those anime main characters.
I was one of those people...daydreaming about adventuring with teammates, destroying dungeons, developing powerful skills, and living a fun life.
No one could deny that they'd rather do those things than study and work back on Earth.
However...by wishing for another life, you're taking your life on Earth for granted.
A life where you have a roof over your head...a life where you're able to eat three meals per day.
Now, look where I was.
My lifespan was limited to ten years.
I was a demon in a world full of humans.
An outcast. I would be one for the rest of my miserable life on Earth.
Every day here could be my last.
But...at least...it wasn't that bad yet.
The ordinary people hadn't yet found out about the hero's loss to the demon prince and my ascension from demon prince to the new king.
Of course, the royal family and the rulers of the kingdom knew, but they were keeping it under wraps to prevent widespread panic.
And there was one more person who knew, but she wouldn't tell anybody.
So, things were still relatively calm.
However, it was only a matter of time before things changed.
Looking in the mirror, seeing a full crimson-red left horn and stump-sized right horn, I sighed.
I needed to hide these things fast.
Security within the kingdom would increase, and with my full black cloak and mask, I'm sure I was already on some sort of watchlist.
Looking down at my hands, which had begun trembling, I muttered.
"I have to kill someone tomorrow."
I needed money... a lot.
Money for a concealing artifact, a smell-blocking artifact, and finally, for the warp gate fee.
But...I wasn't taking the bounty.
If I took the bounty, I would be forced to give the body of the criminal to the adventurer's guild.
Staring at myself in the mirror, my mind began to spin, and I felt a headache coming on.
My body suddenly fell backward, against the bathroom door, and I slid down the door until I was sitting on the ground with my back to the doorway.
Looking up at the ceiling, through the amber-brown hair covering my eyes, I slowly lowered my head.
And that was the last thing I remembered.
...

Waking up the next day, I was surprised to find myself completely drenched.
Scratching my back and blinking, making sure I wasn't dreaming, I found myself lying down in a bathtub with a pillow against my head.
Lifting myself upward and putting my back against the pillow, I confusedly sat up and closed my eyes, trying to recall anything.
However, snapping me out of my thoughts, a sudden cold sensation bombarded my body.

My shirtless body was entirely drenched, and water was dropping down from my amber-brown hair.
And, I was getting wetter by the moment.
Above me, the shower top loomed, dropping buckets of water on me as if it was raining.
Raising my head, I grabbed onto the wall, stabilizing myself, and carefully turned off the shower with the knob.
Stepping out of the shower, I grabbed a towel, wrapping it around my stomach, and walked into the bedroom.
What...had happened last night?
The bed was completely undone, with the dirty sheets and blanket lying on the floor.
Shaking my head, I sighed and looked out the window, ignoring the water dripping from my hair.
Today was going to be a long day.
Opening the door, I slid the hood of my cloak over my wet head, covering my horns, and stepped out.
Immediately, the scent of fresh pancakes and salty bacon flooded my nose, so I rapidly walked down the stairs.
Looking around, I didn't see Liana at any of the desks, so I awkwardly approached another worker.
"Is breakfast included in the room price?"
Smiling, the receptionist picked up another stack of dirty plates before pointing at the right and saying.
"It is, the buffet and plates all over there."
As I looked around, I was surprised to find the first floor practically empty as not even half the tables were filled up.
Although...I did see one familiar figure standing by the bulletin board.
However, I didn't dare glance at her face.
Though from her slumped posture and hunched back, I could tell she was exhausted and drained.
Her elegant white hair dripped down the back of her jacket, dazzling under the lights above.
Forcing myself to look away from her, I rapidly walked towards the buffet, my head now spinning and aching with pain.
Perhaps, I had caught a cold from sleeping under a running shower.
Grabbing a plate, I quickly filled it up with some cloud-like yellow scrambled eggs and a couple of pieces of crispy bacon, all topped with maple syrup.
Maybe...a nice old breakfast would calm me down.
Perhaps it was just my paranoia, but it felt as if everyone in the bar was watching my every move as I walked towards an empty table.
Did they know about horns?
Had they somehow found out I was a demon?
Did they know?
Should I run?
No...it's too late, should I fight back?
What should I do?
What should I do?
What should I do?
My mind raced with thoughts, a new one forming before the old one could even be formed, and my body began to tremble.
Shaking, I attempted to pick it up with my fork, but as I raised it, the fork tipped over and fell out of my grasp.
As the fork slowly descended toward the ground, I instantly tensed my legs, ready to sprint out of the bar.
However, at that moment, a voice spoke from my right, snapping me out of my trance.
"You dropped this."
At that moment, a hand, almost faster than my eyes could see, suddenly swooped in, catching the fork in its palm.
Raising the fork that she had caught before it even hit the ground, Liana looked at me with a confused expression, alternating gazes between me and my plate of food.
"Have you made a decision?"
