Chapter 23: Chapter 23:Temptation [4]
The incoming axe wasn't necessarily dangerous as the metal tip of it could easily be dodged, and the wood part of it wouldn't hurt that much if it hit my body.
However, it prevented my escape.
I couldn't just run backward and blend in with my charging clones like I had originally planned.
As I stood still, thinking of the plan, the berserker covered the wound in his stomach with one hand, attempting to stop the blood from leaking out, while looking down.
How would the devil possessing my body handle this?
Sighing, I shook my head.
He would have just flown into the air with his blood-red wings.
"..."
At that moment, as Kratos recovered from my attack and increased the speed of his backward swinging battle axe, a plan suddenly formed in my mind.
Why couldn't I also go up?
Staying completely still, I widened my legs so that the iron tip of the axe wouldn't hit me and awaited the pressure of the wooden part of the axe.
Perhaps, anticipating a dodge or some movement by me, Kratos moved to the right with his axe; however, I remained still.
Moments later, the wooden part of the axe slammed into my back, sending me flying upward head-first forward, like a baseball hit by a bat.

With Kratos no longer standing in front of me and blocking the path ahead, I flew for a couple of feet before a tree finally came into sight.
As I looked back at the confused berserker behind me and slowly turned around, I was confused to see a holographic side-by-side with me.
Flying in the air as well, the holographic figure was aiming at the same exact tree as I was.
However, the figure...didn't resemble me in the slightest.
Though, I instantly recognized him.
The hero, with his messy blonde hair and light-blue eyes, stared ahead while staying at my side as the two of us rapidly descended.
When the demon possessed my body, I couldn't just see the movements and attacks the demon made.
I had been able to see the entire battlefield. The moves of the army soldiers and even the hero.
Simultaneously, the hero and I both slowly started to turn mid-air so that our legs were now facing forward and our faces were looking at the ground.
This attack was eerily familiar...after all it had been the one to even fool the devil controlling my body.
As the hero and I's feet hit the bark of the tree ahead of us, neither of us stopped.
Like a bouncy ball bouncing off a wall, the hero and I immediately bounced off the tree and headed back at the berserker.
With my head facing Kratos, I raised my blood-red blade horizontally in front of my head, so that the blade would hit the berserker before I did.
Unfortunately, beside me, the holographic hero had no weapon to hold.
Instead, like Superman, he stretched out his fist beyond his head, aiming it right at Kratos's head.
Making eye contact with Kratos, who had been watching the bizarre sequences of actions while staying still, I immediately smiled.
Once again, his body was too big of a target.
Like a comet hitting a planet, I surged through the air at the berserker.
How ironic.
As a last hope, Kratos leaped straight up in the air, attempting to avoid my sky-strike, but it was futile.
When Kratos reached the apex of leap and slowly began descending, I was already there.
Flying at an incredible speed, I raised my horizontal sword so that it was at the same height as Kratos's neck and closed my eyes.
Then, I felt it.
It was a subtle yet pleasurable feeling.
It was as if I had just cut through a buttery and tender steak with a sharp knife.
Kratos's weak neck bones were no match for the material of my blood-red blade combined with the speed I was flying at.
Without slowing down a single bit or losing any of my momentum, my sword sliced right through Krato's neck beheading him.
Leaving his figure behind, I continued flying forward head-first with my blood-red blade, which was darker than usual.
Behind me, Kratos's head-less figure began to spurt-out blood like a fountain, covering the grass below in a crimson-red color.
Then, his lifeless body descended to the ground, like a human falling into hell.
As his dead body hit the ground, my head also banged straight into the hard trunk of a nearby tree.
My crimson-red horns, stabbing into the tree and embedding themself in its wood, took the brunt of the damage, so I still remained somewhat conscious despite the collision.
And, some simple oak wood wouldn't even be able to scratch the surface of my hard ruby horns, so the top of my head remained unharmed as well.
Yanking my head and horns out of the tree, I slowly slid down the tree before jumping on the ground.
And, only a few feet away from me, lay a frozen decapitated figure with countless puddles of blood around him.
Hopefully, the jewels and valuables he had stolen hadn't got damaged.
