Transmigrated: The Lycan King's Pet-Chapter 123 Escape Plan
Chapter 123: Chapter 123 Escape Plan
"So, tell me, how have you been? I hope Alpha Damon did not make life too difficult for you?" Caroline asked as we headed back to the pack house.
"Not really... but you know how he is. My life hasn’t been good, but it hasn’t been bad either." I cleared my throat, remembering the night before.
"I’m happy for you. At least you have someone to protect you." Lydia patted my shoulders.
"Well, not for long," I muttered under my breath, but they heard it anyway.
"Why do you say so?" Caroline intertwined her fingers with mine before flashing me a smile, her doe eyes squinting slightly.
How does she manage to smile after everything they have been through?
"Because he is getting a mate."
"Oh," they both said in unison.
"We know that is going to happen sooner or later. You don’t need to feel bad for me." I forced a smile at them.
"We know, but things aren’t going to get easier for you. It would have been better if Alpha Damon would set you free. But I highly doubt he would do that," Lydia muttered.
"It’s okay. It might not be as bad as you think..."
"It is worse than you think," Caroline cut me off. "Once he is mated, his mate, who would be his Luna, would not tolerate him coming close to you. That is just a death sentence. We werewolves are known to be jealous and very possessive of our mate."
My heart stuttered in my chest. Why does it just keep getting worse?
"So you guys suggest I should be set free... and if he won’t agree... I can just run away..." Before I could finish my words, Lydia covered my mouth with her hand.
"Shhh. There are werewolves around us. Do you want to get us in trouble? Maybe we will be beheaded if Alpha Damon learns that we are instigating you to escape," Lydia said in a hushed voice.
"Sorry," I muttered.
"Let’s go to the kitchen... then we can have a heart-to-heart conversation." She flicked my forehead before walking in front of us. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
I rubbed my forehead, wincing in pain.
"She didn’t use that much force... stop being dramatic." Caroline grabbed my hand, pulling me down the hallway.
The smell of freshly baked pie wafted into my nose. ’God, how long has it been?!’
I closed my eyes, inhaling the scent deeply. For a very, very long time, I hadn’t eaten. I didn’t even know I had been starving all this time.
’You haven’t eaten for a very, very long time? What about last night? Where did the food brought by Mr. Psychopath vanish to?’
My hand instinctively rubbed against my tummy. ’Right in that hole you call a stomach... liar.’
I could literally see myself giving me a bombastic side eye. But I wasn’t lying... Last night was already a very, very long time ago.
"Come, Ember." Caroline waved at me.
I swallowed before walking toward them, a smile forming on my lips.
Caroline pulled out a chair for me. "Thank you."
"I thought you guys were transferred to another part of the pack as punishment? How are you guys here?" I asked while my eyes trailed over the food Lydia was bringing to the table.
"We have some days when we can come here... and today happened to be one of those days." Lydia placed the pie at the center of the table.
"Oh, I see."
"So you guys were talking about how it would be super bad for me to remain here after Damon has mated. So you’re saying I should escape... because I think he will soon get a mate," my voice lowered... but my eyes did not trail off the food.
Caroline sighed. "I don’t know, Ember... maybe we can find a way to take you out of the territory."
"But that would put you guys in trouble."
Lydia served us a slice of the pie. "But we have no other way to help you."
My brows furrowed, my hand clenching tight. There was no way I was going to put them in trouble.
’Wait... I have an idea.’
"Caroline... Lydia. I have a good plan," I said with my eyes widening. How could someone be as smart as me?
"Let’s hear it." Lydia pulled out a chair and sat next to me.
"Werewolves find their mate when they turn eighteen, right?"
"Yes, most find their mates when they come of age... that is when their wolves awaken, but not all are lucky to find their mates on that day." Caroline bit her lower lip, her eyes moving around their sockets as if she were trying to figure out what I was about to say.
"But that is a better chance for me to escape." I paused, my eyes moved from Caroline to Lydia and back and forth. "I’ll be eighteen in ten days’ time. It is a perfect cover for my escape... I could lie to Alpha Damon that I had found my mate... he wouldn’t hold me back, right?"
Lydia nodded her head. "That could work... but how can we find someone to play the role of your mate?"
My frown deepened. "I have no idea... we are not close to any male."
"I can arrange someone for us." Caroline flashed a reassuring smile at me.
"But what if... we get caught?" Lydia’s voice was like our reality check.
"Then... we will try not to get caught," I said, shoving a slice of the pie in my mouth.
’Goodness, how can food be this delicious?!’ I curled my toes.
"Seems like your old habit hasn’t died yet." Lydia chuckled.
"Old habits die hard," I muttered before shoving another one in my mouth.
’Are you really going to run away from Damon? Can you bear to leave him? After all, he is your knight in furs... white furs.’
My hand lowered, and I chewed slowly as the weight of the decision pressed on my chest. ’He is getting a mate, and he doesn’t love me... why should I hold onto him? I don’t do hopeless love.’
