Transmigrated: The Lycan King's Pet-Chapter 137 Him or Freedom?
Chapter 137: Chapter 137 Him or Freedom?
’What the hell is going on?’
My eyes widened as they stared at the swirling blue portal. My heart hammered in my ears. ’Do I have a connection to the portal? But is it not only people who have an affinity to magic that can open a portal?’ I turned towards the door.
My face ashen with fear, if I get caught... I’ll be ripped apart, or tortured to death... Well I hope it doesn’t come to that.
’Does this mean... I have magic?’ I shook my head in denial... There is no way that is possible.
The werewolves hate creatures that have magic. ’I’m a full wolf, this must be a trick.’ I paced around to and fro in front of it.
"But where could it be leading to? Can it help me escape from here?" I muttered low under my breath.
’I wish I could meet up with Caroline and Lydia... I need the plan to work no matter what. Damon is already locking me away. Who knows what would happen after he mated?’
My trail of thought cut off when I saw Caroline and Lydia. They were at a horse farm, brushing down two horses. Caroline had her sleeves rolled up, and Lydia was talking about someone serious from the way her brows furrowed together.
It was so clear as if I were staring at a mirror. But what if this is a trick? Maybe it is from the mysterious woman who put this mark on my shoulder.
But whatever it was... I had no choice but to take it, be it good or bad.
I reached out my hand towards it, and I felt a cold sensation as my finger touched it. It rippled slightly, swallowing my arms.
I brought my hand back out, and it seemed fine. ’It must be safe.’
I took a last glance at the room. Although I didn’t like it that much because of its boring colour, I have grown used to it, and it holds a lot of memories. I just can’t help but miss it.
I inhaled deeply, stepping into the portal, and I reached out, letting my fingers pass through the light. The second I stepped in, I felt a strange tug. My stomach churned, and the world around me spun for a moment. A heartbeat later, I landed softly on dirt.
The fresh breeze invaded my nostrils, the wind ruffling my hair slightly. My nose scrunched from the smell of the manure from the horses. But it was also the smell of freedom.
Before I could turn around. Lydia shrieked, stumbling backward. Caroline dropped her broom with wide eyes.
"Ember?"
They both blinked at me like I was some ghost.
"Is it really you?" Lydia whispered, walking slowly towards me. Unsure if she should come closer or not.
"It is me." My voice cracked.
Hearing my answer, they both rushed forward and threw their arms around me. I winced from the ache still crawling across my body, but I didn’t care. The warmth of their hug made something in me settle for the first time in days.
Caroline pulled away first, her hands gripping my shoulders. "Where the hell have you been? We have been trying to reach out to all these while."
"I..." My voice trembled. "I need to leave now. Damon’s trying to lock me up. He doesn’t want me to go outside." I said in a panic.
"What?" Lydia blinked, a little taken aback.
"He’s placed guards at my door today. He claims I’m too weak to go out. I have a feeling that he is hiding something from me." I tried not to sound paranoid.
Lydia grabbed my shoulders. "Breathe Ember... I can’t guarantee that you are safe here. But I can assure you that it will take a long time before you are found."
I looked at her, blinking unbelievably at her. "Well, that wasn’t really reassuring."
"Come, we should stay away from the public eye." Caroline led us to a narrow alley. We stood behind the wall.
"Ember, we had a plan to help you escape. But you disappeared for nine days. We tried to contact you through one of the maids, but she said that you have been in the room for nine days together with Alpha Damon." Caroline folded her arms across her chest.
She looked at me as if I had betrayed her.
I pressed my lips into a thin line. "What do you mean by me staying with Alpha Damon for nine days. Didn’t he go out?"
"That is the strange part. He rarely left the room for the last nine days. We even thought he had gone on a secret task. But he had been in the room with you. By the way, how come you don’t know about that?" Lydia had a concerned look on her face.
My heart skipped a beat. ’So he had been by my side all this while I was unconscious?’
"I don’t believe that," I muttered under my breath.
"Ask anyone, Gamma Theo has been the one taking care of the pack’s affairs these past few days." Caroline looked at me, her brows furrowing as if she was trying to figure out whatever I was hiding.
’He even left his duties for me, so why wouldn’t he admit that he has feelings for me? So this bite wasn’t a death sentence at all... he wanted to mark me.’ A small smile formed on my lips as everything began to make sense.
He was the type who spoke with actions. I had misunderstood him.
"Ember," Lydia snapped me out of my thoughts. "When we knew we couldn’t reach you... We decided to go with the plan. So as long as you want your freedom, we can still go with the plan tonight." frёeweɓηovel_coɱ
My fingers twitched by my side. "Thank you guys... You really are the best." I sniffled.
But what type of dilemma is this? Now I knew he did care for me but I can’t let the chance pass me by? It is either him or my freedom. Which one should I choose?
