Transmigrated: The Lycan King's Pet-Chapter 355 Will You Marry Me?
"Da..."
"Do you remember the first day we met? It was a chaotic start, but strangely I felt a pull towards you. I didn’t know what it was but I’m grateful for it. I know our beginning wasn’t perfect, and I know I was a big pain in the a**." Damon paused, his eyes boring straight into mine with love, and a little bit of fear of uncertainty. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
My fingers clutched the edge of my dress, never in my life did I expect this, my chest tightened with warmth.
"You changed me, Ember, you made me realise I was capable of loving again, you made me realise I deserved to be loved, breaking all my walls of defence. I wondered sometimes, if I was worth your love... we had ups and downs, moments we thought we had lost each other, but as fate would have it, we always found ourselves in each other’s arms again..."
"... I have also come to realize that I can not live without you, my body, my soul, my heart, they are all yours now... I love you so much that words are not enough to describe it. I want to be your armour when you’re in danger, your comforter, your protector, your lover, and your best friend."
Damon’s eyes met mine intensely, and he stretched his hand towards me. For a moment it felt the world held its breath, and the only sound I could hear was the pounding of my heart. My fingers trembled slightly, and my cheeks were wet with tears.
"Will you be my wife?" Damon’s voice came out more like a plea, his eyes holding me in place.
My heartbeat skyrocketed, ’He just asked me to marry him! Oh my God, this can’t be real! Damon asked me to marry him.’
"Are you saying yes or no, don’t keep him waiting. And say yes." Layla’s voice echoed in my head snapping me out of my thoughts.
I bit my lower lip. My heart felt torn, ’if I say yes, our relationship wouldn’t last, and if I say no, I will break the progress we had made so far.’
"Damon..." My voice came out cracked and emotional. "I... I...have something to tell you." My fingers shook more violently than before.
"Okay," he muttered under his breath.
A heavy tension suddenly stretched out between us.
"I... I...." The words felt impossible to say. "What if I die three weeks from now, would you still... propose to me?"
Damon paused, his brows furrowing slightly together. "Yes, I would still propose to you," he answered without batting an eye.
I walked closer to him, my hands cupping one side of his cheeks, his large hand, covered mine. "Why would you? It’s just a short time, with the blink of an eye, it’s gone."
"Because every second I spend with you matters. I love you so much, that even if death comes knocking, he’s not leaving without a fight."
"Oh, Damon, you won’t understand," I whispered, but I knew he heard me clearly.
"Will you marry me?" He asked again, this time his eyes burned with conviction.
"Say Yes, SAY YES, SAY YES!" Layla yelled in my head.
I chuckled. "I was just pulling your legs, hehehe, of course I’ll marry you." I quickly wiped away my tears, fanning my face with one hand, while stretching my other hand for him to put the ring on it.
The moment the ring slid onto my finger, something warm bloomed in my chest. It felt strange and soft and ridiculous all at the same time. I kept staring at the ring like it might disappear if I blinked too hard. Damon pushed himself up slowly, brushing off dirt from his knees before pulling me into his arms.
"You almost gave me a heart attack," he murmured against my hair.
"I almost gave myself one," I whispered back.
As if my brain was comprehending what just happened, I let out a joyful squeal, flexing my fingers. "I can’t believe I’m engaged! I’m getting married!" I shouted, smiling from ear to ear. Even when I knew it wouldn’t last long, joy wasn’t something I could buy, I might be selfish... but this kind of joy made me believe and hope for a miracle.
He chuckled, that low sound that always made my stomach flutter. He rested his forehead on mine, his thumb brushing my cheek as if he was memorising my face all over again. I could feel how steady his breathing was, how warm his body felt against mine, how real this moment was. It was almost too much.
"I can’t believe you tricked me earlier, I thought you were still mad at me" I muttered, lightly hitting his chest.
"I can’t believe you kicked my balls, if they get damaged, tell me, how would I satisfy your big hunger?" he replied, his eyes narrowing a little. "And do you know how painful that was?"
"You’re exaggerating, it wasn’t that hard. I wouldn’t hurt your special weapon, I love them too" I said shamelessly.
Damon tried to keep a serious face but failed miserably. "So shameless."
"And so are you"
He let out a long sigh that screamed defeat, then wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer. "You are lucky I love you," he said, placing a soft kiss on my forehead.
I melted into his arms, because right now it felt like millions of butterflies were flying in my stomach.
"I love you too," I whispered, burying my face in his chest because looking at him directly felt too overwhelming after everything.
He held me tightly, as if the world had gone quiet and there was nothing left but the two of us standing under the moonlight with fireflies dancing around. My fingers unconsciously traced circles on his back and he exhaled slowly, like he had been waiting for this calm for a long time.
"Ember," he whispered.
"Hmm?"
"I meant every word."
My heart squeezed again. "I know."
"And you are not allowed to run away now that you said yes."
I scoffed lightly. "I’m not running anywhere."
"Good." His lips brushed the side of my temple again. "Because I am going to spoil you every day until you are sick of me."
"That will never happen," I said truthfully.
His smile widened. "I love you so much, can you feel my heartbeat?"
