Chapter 373: Chapter 373 I Can

"Look who we have here," Maddie said, clicking her tongue haughtily.

One of her mates came to her side holding her hand as if she were some high monarch.

I stared at her before smiling faintly. "It seems like you are already used to your life of foursome, I actually think it is good for you, at least now you know your place," I said, ever so sweetly.

The mask on her face fell miserably. "Ember, you whore!" she exploded like a firework, she pulled her hands from her mate’s palms. Her face was as red as tomato sauce. "You think I didn’t hear how Alpha Damon had rejected you because you were an abomination, a fae." Maddie spat on the ground in disgust.

"Yes, he did, but did you also hear that he travelled to the fae realm just to have me back? You know, that is a good definition of everlasting love. And did you also know I was not just any fae? I’m a princess, read my lips PRIN-CESS..." I smirk seeing the anger and jealousy swirling in her eyes.

The torment wasn’t over, especially when I had a lot of cards to pull. "And helloo, did you see my finger? Take a good look," I waved my finger in front of her, showcasing my ring. "Damon just proposed to me, he is going to marry me, and I’m going to be his Luna. Even the pack knows about it, I guess some people can never." I tilted my chin, with a devilish smirk.

Maddie’s lips wobbled like a leaf before the storm. "You, you’ll pay for this. I promise you." She screamed like a banshee.

Before she could turn and leave I pulled her by the collar dress. One thing I learned from all my time in this realm was never to show your enemies a sign of weakness, or let them step over you, all thanks to Damon.

"I’ll say this, and I’ll say it once." My eyes turned cold and sharp like glaciers, then the shades turned to purple with fiery rings in their depths. I used my Alpha wolf voice. "Mess with me and there is only one way out... death."

I pushed her back after I was done. Her mates immediately bared their necks, even the werewolves around me couldn’t resist my aura.

Maddie whimpered as she struggled not to lower her head, seeing her defiance, I released my Alpha aura more. The other werewolves fell on their knees whimpering.

Maddie fell on one of her knees, with her head lowered..

’That’s more like it.’

"Go, girl..." Layla cheered in my head.

I walked past them towards where the injured werewolves were getting treated. As a fae, it was my job to help with their healing.

My gaze flickered to Alpha Caelen, it was so frustrating how difficult it was to ignore him. I walked past him anyway and immediately started healing the Omegas, and the Betas.

I continued healing the werewolves without sparing Alpha Caelen another glance, my focus fixed on the injured bodies lying across the ground.

My hands glowed faintly as I moved from one person to another, healing their wounds, mending their broken bones, and easing their pain. Every time someone gasped in relief or whispered a trembling thank you, something inside my chest tightened uncomfortably.

I was doing this because it was right, not because this was my pack.

As I straightened from healing a young omega whose leg had been nearly torn apart, I felt a presence approaching me. I did not need to turn around to know who it was. The air shifted subtly, carrying a familiar scent and a tension that made my shoulders stiffen.

Evelyn stood a few steps away from me.

My stepmother looked nothing like the composed Luna I remembered. Her hair was slightly disheveled, her clothes stained with dirt and blood, and her expression was a mixture of emotions she clearly did not know how to mask.

There was surprise in her eyes, and something darker beneath it that looked a lot like resentment. Yet no matter how much she tried to hide it, awe flickered unmistakably in her gaze.

I knew what she was seeing.

I was no longer the silent omega girl who kept her head down and obeyed every order. I was no longer the unwanted burden they tolerated out of convenience.

I had grown, changed, and become something they never expected. An Alpha, a fae princess, someone who commanded power and respect without asking for it. Like a butterfly that had finally torn itself free from its cocoon and unfolded wings no one believed it had.

Evelyn cleared her throat, breaking the silence between us. "Ember," she said carefully, as if testing the name on her tongue. "You should heal your father."

I did not hesitate. "No."

The word came out sharp and final, leaving no room for misunderstanding.

Her eyes widened slightly, then hardened. "Ember," she tried again, her voice lowering. "No matter what happened between you and him, he is still your father. Even though he was not kind to you at times, at least you had a roof over your head and food to eat."

I scoffed, a bitter sound tearing out of my chest before I could stop it. "Food and a roof?" I turned fully to face her, my eyes burning. "The days I went to sleep hungry were more than the days I ate. And the roof you speak of, do you mean the dungeon where I was locked away like an animal?"

Her face paled.

Anger surged through me, hot and uncontrollable. "I cannot save a father who sold his daughter as a breeder," I said, my voice trembling with restrained fury. "A man who looked at his own child and saw nothing but a tool."

Evelyn’s composure cracked completely. "You must heal him," she snapped, desperation creeping into her tone. "If he dies, the pack will fall apart. You cannot let that happen."

"I can," I replied coldly. "And I will."
