Chapter 392: Chapter 392 Captured

Fenrir’s howl split the air, filled with fury and disbelief that slammed into me like a physical force. Midnight’s rage surged just as fiercely, feeding into the chaos and bloodshed around us.

"How is it possible?" Alaric replied through the mindlink.

"I don’t know," I replied.

"We should have a small search party to look for her," Theo said, already mindlinking a small group of warriors to look after her.

"I think she had been taken, I can’t feel her here," I said with pain and fear lacing my voice.

"Damon, we will find her." Alaric tried to assure me.

But we both knew that wasn’t working.

Beowulf snarled inside my head, bloodlust and desperation warring for control, his voice sharp and relentless. "Find her. Kill them all, they are all trying to stop us."

He fought like a beast possessed, every strike driven by fury and terror, every kill fueled by the need to punish. Magic scorched the air, explosions lighting up the battlefield in flashes of dark and red. Wolves slammed into each other with bone-crushing force, the ground becoming wet with blood and body parts.

Above us, the corrupted witches continued their assault without restraint, hurling magic at us. Bodies fell around me, friend and foe alike.

......

(Ember Pov)

Everywhere was dark, and strangely it felt like I was underwater, drowning. I tried to swim back up or grab anything I could get a hold of, however... It was empty.

I was alone, and Layla was nowhere to be found. Tired of trying, my body drifted slowly under the water, my eyes fluttered closed.

"Aeris."

"Aeris."

"Aeris."

The faint sound of someone calling my name became louder with every call. And my eyes snapped open.

I wheezed as I inhaled sharply, dragging air into my lungs that seemed to be starved of oxygen.

The strong smell of dark magic invaded my nostrils. I tried to move my hands, but they were bound together behind a chair. My legs were also chained to the legs of the chair.

The scariest part was, I couldn’t see a thing. At first, I thought my eyes hadn’t gotten adapted to the lighting of the room, but I was wrong. Someone tied dark clothes around my eyes.

Feeling helpless, I tried to break free. That was when the sharp pain from my wrists and legs registered in my head.

I spat in anger. "Silver."

The burn was excruciating. I was half werewolf, silver had never had significance on me, why now?

"Layla, are you there?" I called through the mindlink.

"Ember... everything is fuzzy. I can’t think straight." Layla replied weakly.

My fist clenched tightly, and my nails dug into my palm. "Maddie," I said with bitterness. "I’ll make you pay dearly for this."

I bit my lower lip, my head lowered. I could only rely on my sense of smell and my hearing. I tried to concentrate on picking up on anything, so I could figure out where I was, but everywhere was silent... silent as a graveyard.

My breath came out heavily, as I thought of Damon. He must be very worried about me. And I was also afraid... afraid for the sake of my unborn child.

’Think... think, what should I do? What should I do?’ I tried not to panic, but it seemed I was doing a bad job at it.

’My magic.’

I sighed in relief at the thought. I tried to reach my magic, but no matter how hard I tried, it seemed like I was reaching for the sky, seen but untouchable. I frowned at the perilous situation.

’What has that bitch done to me?’

Before I could dwell more on it, I felt another presence in the room. It was strong, oppressive, and stinking. It smelled of nothing good.

But how did the person enter the room without making any noise... except... except the person had magic.

I felt shivers run down my spine. My body stiffened. I tilted my head slightly, relying on my ears to pick up on any sound.

Goosebumps kissed my skin, the moment long, cold, sharp nails held my jaw, tilting my chin up. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

"Well, well, well. Look who we have here..." The voice was weird, it was strangely high-pitched and sounded like a nightmare. "... None other than the Chosen.... The chosen... hehehehe."

"Who are you?" I asked, trying to keep my composure.

The aura was familiar, it was just that I couldn’t tell where I had encountered it before. And it wasn’t just one aura, there were two.

’Could another person be in the room?’ I thought inwardly.

Her nails dug into my skin, making me wince in pain. The warmth of my blood trickled down my jaw to my neck.

"After everything you made me go through, you don’t remember me?!" She shrieked so high that I grimaced, my ears rang from the high pitch.

’Okay, she has a nasty mood. Better to remain quiet and let her do the speaking.’ I thought to myself.

She tilted my head higher, making the back of my neck hurt. ’Is she trying to snap my neck in two? That fucking hurt, bitch.’ I gritted my teeth, swallowing my words.

"It was all because of you that I lost my body. Because of you!" She yelled, her already high-pitched voice cracking as if she was hurting. Maybe she was.

"But you thought you killed me, however you only made us stronger. Stronger enough to send you to your grave." She pushed my head to the side roughly.

I exhaled heavily, as my scattered ruffled down my face. "Motherfucking bastard," I muttered under my breath.

"I killed you?" I probed, since she was nasty, she would hurt me even if I didn’t speak. "I’ve killed quite a couple of people, you don’t expect me to keep a tab on you, do you?" I asked sarcastically.

She let out another shrill. The next second, the piece of cloth covering my face was ripped from my face, her nails bruising the corner of my eyes. Blood trickled down my face, as the pain rushed up to my brain.

Before I could process what was going on, she grabbed my jaw.

"Take a good look at me. LOOK AT ME!" She screamed.

My vision was tainted red. The woman standing in front of me was unfamiliar, I had never seen her before. But her eyes were the weirdest I had ever seen, familiar yet unfamiliar.

One eye was slitted like that of a reptile, and the other was misty white. ’Misty white? Isn’t that the eyes of the Bone witch?’ My eyes widened as realization dawned on me.
