Transmigrated To Ancient Time: Thrive With An Auction System!-Chapter 65: Preparing For The Worst ( 2 )
Noticing his wife keep stealing glances at him, Fu Chen’an smiled and thought with relief, ’So, she actually likes me. I thought she hated a rough man like me.’
Not knowing that her husband saw everything, Yao Zhi tried to calm down and asked, "Well, what do you want to eat for dinner?"
Fu Chen’an knew their family’s situation and did not want to put his wife in a hard position. So after pretending to think for a moment, he said, "Wife, I will eat everything you make. You can make the decision."
Hearing this, Yao Zhi’s face darkened. What was the difference between this and the answer of ’anything is fine’?
Since he did not take this opportunity to put forward his requests, he could not blame her for making the dishes she liked.
"The weather is too hot, and I do not have much appetite. Let us have cold noodles with a smashed cucumber salad."
This was the first time Fu Chen’an heard of a dish called smashed cucumber salad. Although he didn’t know if this dish was tasty or not, he only looked at his wife and nodded.
With him around, Yao Zhi could not buy noodles from the system’s shop and had to make everything from scratch. Since her husband insisted on helping, she would let him knead the dough.
She scooped up a cup of wheat flour and three cups of millet flour from the earthen jars and poured them into a big wooden bowl. Then, she added a pinch of salt, mixed them, and made a well in the middle before she cracked two eggs, a spoonful of oil, and some water.
Using a pair of chopsticks, she mixed everything into a shaggy dough. Afterward, she took a wooden board, wiped it clean, covered it with some flour, and poured the dough on it.
When she was done, she handed the wooden board to him and said, "Husband, it is time to do your task."
Receiving his wife’s orders, Fu Chen’an washed his hands and started kneading the dough. Due to his warm body temperature and strength, it was not long before the dough’s surface started to become smooth and elastic.
Seeing his wife go to the water vat placed in the corner of the kitchen, he thought that his wife was going to get some water. But not long after, he saw her take out three long, green things from the water vat.
He watched his wife wash the strange-looking things. When she smashed them with the kitchen knife’s surface with a loud sound, he was startled. Looking at her cutting that crushed thing into smaller pieces, he felt cold in his back.
The way his wife smashed that thing was so scary!
Not knowing that her action gave her husband a slight fear, Yao Zhi finished preparing the smashed cucumber salad.
To nourish her husband, she decided to steam some eggs for him. Then, she added stir-fried vegetables with pork slices to their dinner menu.
When she finished cooking, the dough was ready. She flattened the dough and cut it into small strips before she boiled it for a few minutes.
"Husband, hand me the bowls in the cabinet," she said while stirring the noodles.
Fu Chen’an rummaged through the cabinets and took out two bowls. Looking at the big bowls, Yao Zhi said, "Give me one smaller bowl."
As a good husband, Fu Chen’an followed his wife’s order without asking any questions. He got a smaller bowl and gave it to her.
Standing on the side, he saw his wife’s skillful movements. She poured the noodles into the bowls and added a lot of seasonings that he did not know. Afterward, she added shredded vegetables, chili oil, and two drops of sesame oil. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
The fragrance of food filled the air immediately and awoke his appetite. "Wife, is it done?" Fu Chen’an asked while he salivated.
Yao Zhi nodded and said, "It’s done. Husband, help me take it to the room."
"Okay."
The two of them carried the bowls and plates to the room and took their seats. Looking at the dishes in front of him, Fu Chen’an’s stomach growled in protest.
Hearing this, Yao Zhi let out a soft chuckle. "Have a taste," she said as she handed him a pair of chopsticks.
Without her second urging, Fu Chen’an took the chopsticks, mixed the noodles, and took a big bite. The moment the flavor burst in his mouth, his eyes lit up.
He chewed a few times and swallowed the food before he said, "Wife, these noodles are so delicious!"
"It tastes better if you pair it with the smashed cucumber salad," Yao Zhi replied as she ate.
Hearing this, Fu Chen’an reached out for the cucumber and had a bite. The spicy yet refreshing taste made him feel hungrier.
While he was eating like he was being chased by someone, Yao Zhi ate slowly. She only ate some salad, two spoonfuls of steamed eggs, half a bowl of noodles, and some stir-fried vegetables before she felt full.
Seeing her stop eating, Fu Chen’an pointed at her leftover noodles and asked, "Wife, are you done eating?"
Yao Zhi nodded. Before she could say a word, she saw him pour the rest of the noodles and the rest of the smashed cucumber salad into his own bowl before he finished everything in a few bites.
In less than half an hour, he actually devoured everything, leaving clean plates and bowls behind.
"Husband, are you full?" Yao Zhi asked with astonishment.
Fu Chen’an drank a cup of water and let out a sigh. He patted his stomach and said, "I am seventy percent full."
Hearing this, Yao Zhi was stunned. Calculating the price in this era and this man’s salary, it was a miracle that he did not starve to death with his big appetite.
While she was still processing the information, Fu Chen’an already brought the dirty dishes to the backyard. His wife already cooked their dinner, so he would wash the dishes.
