Transmigrated with my corruption system-Chapter 57: Why Should I?
Back inside the Greyson residence, a shimmering orb hung over the sky, spilling diluted golden light that illuminated the silhouettes of two figures.
"Your flesh contains the overwhelming might of bears, while your blood roars like the raging seas. Yet your magical capabilities aren’t any less terrifying," Greyson muttered under his breath as he circled the dark-robed figure before him, clicking his tongue.
He could sense he was at the pinnacle of F-rank. Yet the might he exuded was enough to deal with regular E-rank beings.
Astounding. Truly astounding, he mused as the smile on his face widened with every second he inspected the youth.
Until Ulric couldn’t take it anymore, clearing his throat, snapping Greyson out of his daze.
"Uh, yeah. Right!" Greyson muttered, regaining his composure.
Flashing a sheepish smile, he had been carried away again.
"Where was I?" he mumbled before his eyes finally regained focus.
"With your impending breakthrough, I called you here to guide you through the motions of your advancement."
He doubted it was necessary at this point, but still, it wouldn’t hurt to impart what little knowledge he had. And being the only C-rank being in Tempest City, he saw no other person more fit to do it than him.
With all these considerations, he finally opened his mouth to speak.
"F-rank is the beginning pathway to power. Beings in this rank aspire to strengthen their bodies to the absolute limit and enhance their senses and skills," he began.
"When they ascend to the peak, mind, soul, body, and talent converge. It is only with these four combined that a being can take that leap. How strong you will be at E-rank is also determined by these factors."
He muttered before sighing. "That’s why there are strong and weak E-rank beings... but you are different. You possess all four in excellent condition."
Greyson muttered, unable to suppress the crazed glint in his eyes as he stared at Ulric. He had insane physical strength, a monstrous talent, and if that was still not enough, his mind was resilient, with his soul laced with the spirit of a battle maniac.
The strength he would acquire after his advancement... Greyson couldn’t even begin to wrap his mind around it.
At the side, a thoughtful expression covered Ulric’s face as he sank deeper into his thoughts. It all made sense.
It was why, even after a few years since Amber awakened, she was still an F-rank being. Without an E-rank talent, she was forever locked within that realm, further consolidating a thought that had been circling at the back of his mind for a while.
Without talent, even endless effort amounted to nothing. It made sense why talented figures were held in such high esteem.
If he were to follow the regular norm, his limit would only hit when he broke through to S-rank, a tier so far away countless figures could only dream of. Yet his fate was tied to it. With enough resources, it was only a matter of time.
Which should have been more than enough to satisfy his hunger for power. But the thought did nothing to appease him. With his corruption system, S-rank would just be the beginning. Limits were only meant to be broken.
With that thought in mind, his head tilted slightly, catching the crazed glint flashing across Greyson’s eyes. And to a point, he could understand his thought process.
With all he had displayed, the power he ought to gain in this breakthrough would be monstrous. But Ulric had far grander thoughts.
If an S-rank talent and intermediate mortal corrupted physique were already impressive, what about an SS-rank talent and advanced physique?
The sheer thought filled him with exhilaration as his blood boiled in excitement. The grip on his scythe inadvertently tightened as his gaze fell on it.
With the massive reserve of corruption points, it was more than enough to corrupt all three of them, and he couldn’t wait to do it.
As the thought crossed his mind, his head nodded slightly, glad he hadn’t been rash with his breakthrough back in the dungeon.
Just as he was about to delve deeper into his thoughts, his eyes narrowed slightly, watching as a carriage arrived at the entrance of the Greyson residence, branded with a familiar crest.
Greyson beside him wasn’t much better as he stared, recognizing the crest instantly as he murmured beneath his breath,
"The Silverblood House."
Watching as it came to a halt a few hundred meters from where they stood.
Exhaling softly, Lena stepped out of the carriage, her eyes scanning the terrain before suddenly halting when her gaze fell on the two figures, or rather specifically Ulric as her breath suddenly hitched.
Before, when they last met, he was already a handsome youth. Part of the reason she had entertained the thought of marriage for as long as she did before annulling it. But this... this was just ridiculous.
Did S-rank talents enhance one’s features to such a degree? If she didn’t know better, she could have sworn she was staring at an entirely different person. But some features remained indistinct, making her certain.
Like his blood-red eyes that made her heart thud rapidly at just a simple glance. What is happening to me? Lena chided herself as she clenched her fists, trying to snap out of the trance.
At the side, Kaelith flashed a toothy grin as he nodded rapidly. The young man was more appealing to the eye than he had anticipated. And more than that, he could sense something Lena couldn’t, the monstrous energy leaking out of his body, confirming him as a Peak F-rank being.
If he didn’t know better, he might have even assumed he had taken the leap to E-rank.
With all these combined, he was unable to suppress himself anymore as he hurriedly dragged Lena forward, a boisterous laughter rumbling from his throat.
"Hahaha! So it is true. You finally came out of your seclusion. What better way to celebrate than to amend the marriage and ensure a prosperous future for both our generations?"
He muttered, getting straight to the point, causing Greyson’s lips to twitch faintly. Shameless as ever.
Nudged slightly, Lena walked forward, her face planted toward the ground below.
She wanted to look into his eyes, but the overbearing aura leaking from him prevented her. Given his recent explosive growth, it wouldn’t be out of the question that he had yet to learn to restrain it.
But this did little to deter her. If anything, it fueled her as a greedy glint flashed across her eyes. She had seen and could feel it for herself.
The rumors, they were all true. She stood beside the monstrosity of an S-rank talent, far beyond her imagination, which massively shifted her perspective.
With him by her side, her future would be unstoppable... she mused before forcefully swallowing her pride as she muttered,
"It’s true... I made a mistake. Our houses are better combined than divided. L-let’s seal it with our marriage."
A moment of silence passed as all attention shifted to the black-robed youth.
Just as the tension was eating at everyone, a slow chuckle slipped from his throat before breaking out into full-blown maniacal laughter. When it eased, he wheezed as his eyes fell on the figure before him.
"Tell me," Ulric muttered, a glint of genuine curiosity flashing across his eyes. "Why would I take you back?"
