Transmigrating as an Extra, But the Heroine Has Regressed?!-Chapter 306: In the Female infirmary!
Kael’s consciousness drifted in and out like a small boat lost in stormy waves.
His vision remained dark, and the voices around him blurred into a mixture of yelling, sighing, and distant crying.
"...Where... am I...?" Kael whispered weakly, blinking as the world slowly came back into focus.
The ceiling was strange. Too white.. Too... spinning.
Before he could process anything, something warm moved close—very close.
Elysia leaned down until her face hovered just inches from his.
"You. Explain. NOW."
Her voice held so much pressure that Kael genuinely thought gravity increased.
"E-Explain... what?" he croaked.
Her eyes burned gold, fiery and terrifying.
"WHY DID YOU COME IN HERE!?"
Her shout shook his soul. Kael flinched.
Behind her, Cecelia trembled under her blanket.
"E-Elysia... don’t scare him..." she whispered timidly.
Elysia didn’t even bother looking back.
"Oh, shut up."
Cecelia shrunk like a frightened rabbit.
Kael lifted a shaky hand and rubbed the painful spot on his forehead. "I... I came to see if Cecelia was okay..."
Both girls froze.
Cecelia’s entire face flushed pink. Her heartbeat thumped loudly enough she nearly heard it herself.
"He... came to check on me...?" she murmured, her fingers clutching the blanket tighter.
Elysia blinked, caught off guard. Her fierce aura softened for just a moment, confusion flickering across her face.
Kael continued, voice barely above a whisper.
"She was... badly hurt yesterday. I just wanted to see if she was fine."
Silence washed into the room like a gentle wave.
For the first time since Kael knew her, Elysia seemed genuinely speechless. Her mouth opened slightly, but no sound came out.
"...Oh," she muttered finally, looking away.
Cecelia bit her lip, touched. Her heart warmed, and her eyes softened as she glanced at the boy on the stretcher.
She shyly lifted the blanket a little to peek at him.
"T-Thank you, Kael," she said softly, her voice barely audible.
Kael managed a weak, awkward smile. "No problem—"
Then he made the fatal mistake.
His eyes drifted downward.
Just slightly.
Just enough.
Cecelia’s blanket had slipped again.
Her upper body, wrapped in bandages, was still very... very noticeable.
Kael’s brain short-circuited.
His heart exploded.
His nose screamed.
"BLOOSH!"
A volcanic explosion of nosebleed shot out.
"—GAH—!"
He collapsed instantly, limbs limp, soul leaving his body like steam from a dying teapot.
"STOP LOOKING!!" Elysia screamed, shaking him aggressively.
"KYAAAAH! D-Don’t faint again, Kael!!" Cecelia panicked, holding her blanket up to her face.
Two nurses rushed in, already exhausted from the earlier chaos.
One sighed deeply. "Not again..."
The other rubbed her temples. "Someone get a towel."
Together they dragged Kael’s limp body back onto the stretcher, repositioning him like an unconscious ragdoll.
Elysia glared daggers at him.
Cecelia blushed enough to light a lantern.
The nurses whispered complaints.
Everything descended into music of chaos.
But far away...
The world was already turning in Kael’s direction.
Deep in the Abyss Warden’s Chamber
Far beyond the reach of sunlight, deep beneath the crumbling lands and swirling black mists, a colossal fortress of obsidian spikes towered over an endless abyss.
Inside, a vast hall glowed with red energy. Chains hung from the ceiling like the ribs of a dead beast.
Zereth and the Five Deadly Sins knelt on one knee.
Fear crawled across their skin.
Before them sat a massive throne shaped like jagged fangs. On that throne rested a figure cloaked in darkness, wrapped in layers of shadow that writhed like living snakes.
The Abyss Warden.
"You dare come back... with failure."
Zereth lowered his head immediately. "I-I am sorry... I tried, but they were strong—"
A shadow lashed out.
THWACK!
Zereth flew back, crashing into a stone pillar.
The Five Sins trembled.
The Warden rose slowly. His presence alone made the air vibrate.
"Our giant demon..." he said, dark energy swirling around him like a storm.
His eyes glowed blood red.
"...was killed by one person alone."
The shadows twisted and formed an image of the fight. A young boy, trembling yet determined, launching an attack that shattered the demon.
Kael.
"So his name is Kael...?" the Warden muttered. His voice grew lower, deeper. "And he uses dark power...?"
The Warden descended from the throne.
His boots cracked the stone floor.
"I want him alive."
He turned to the Five Sins.
Each of them bowed their heads instantly.
"Bring him to me. His power... belongs to the abyss."
Zereth struggled to stand, clutching his side. "A-As you command..."
The Warden’s shadow consumed them all.
Back at Arcadia Academy – Rumors Spread Like Wildfire
While Kael laid unconscious a day before in the female infirmary, the entire continent had begun whispering about him.
At one of the Academy, a group of senior students gathered in their courtyard.
"Did you hear?" one asked. "The demon-clearing mission ended in disaster."
A girl with sharp eyes leaned forward. "I heard dozens were injured."
A boy nodded. "But apparently... one first-year boy killed a giant demon."
Silence fell.
The girl narrowed her eyes. "A first-year?"
"That’s the rumor."
Another chimed in, "They say he wasn’t even using mana... but some strange dark energy."
At another Academy across the mountains, their combat instructor slammed his hand on a table.
"ARCADIA already has top students... AND they have a monster like that!?"
His assistant whispered, "Whoever he is, he’s dangerous."
At the Beast Art Academy, a few scholars gathered around a magical mirror replaying a blurred vision of the demon.
"Look at that silhouette," one muttered. "That’s no normal student."
"They say his name is unknown," another added. "No face, no identity."
"And Arcadia hasn’t released any details."
Meanwhile, in taverns, markets, and merchant caravans, whispers grew louder.
"A boy killed a demon twice the size of a house!"
"He punched it with bare hands!"
"His eyes turned black—"
"Maybe he’s cursed—"
"No, maybe he’s blessed—"
Arcadia Academy.
The academy that always stood above others.
Now people believed they had birthed a new monster.
Back in the female Infirmary – Kael Wakes Again
"Ugh..." Kael groaned for what felt like the tenth time.
His eyes opened slowly. Yet again, he found himself on a bed, chest wrapped in cloth, nose bandaged heavily.
A nurse hovered nearby, mixing herbs.
"You’re awake again," she said tiredly. "Good."
Kael tried sitting up, but she pressed a hand on his shoulder.
"No. Stay down. For the love of everything holy, please stop fainting."
Kael nodded weakly.
Elysia stood at the foot of his bed, arms crossed. "Finally. Stop scaring people."
Cecelia peeked from her own bed, still bundled in a blanket like a burrito.
"Are you okay...?" she asked softly.
Kael looked away shyly. "I-I’m okay."
Elysia rolled her eyes. "Barely."
Kael frowned. "Why are you being so mean...?"
"Because," Elysia leaned closer, "you made me stress so much I nearly aged ten years."
Cecelia gasped. "N-No! Elysia, you still look pretty!"
"Not the point!" Elysia snapped.
Cecelia shrunk again.
The nurse chuckled under her breath. "These kids..."
Kael glanced at Cecelia again—but immediately forced himself to stare at the wall instead.
Her bandages were now securely wrapped, blanket pulled to her chin.
"No more nosebleeds, please," Cecelia whispered, cheeks pink.
Kael nodded rapidly. "N-No! Never again! I swear!"
Elysia glared. "If he bleeds again, I’ll knock him out myself."
The nurse smacked Elysia lightly with a clipboard. "Violence is prohibited here!"
Elysia hissed. "Tch..."
Cecelia giggled quietly behind her blanket.
Kael rubbed the back of his neck. "So... you’re both okay now?"
Cecelia nodded. "Mostly. They said I need a day’s rest."
"Good," Kael said softly. "I was... worried."
Cecelia froze.
Her cheeks went even redder.
Elysia raised an eyebrow, glancing between them.
"...You two better not make this weird," she muttered.
Kael and Cecelia looked away in sync.
But it didn’t last.
Because the infirmary door slammed open.
BAM!
Every head turned.
Professor Sylvia stepped in, hair glowing with cold blue light, eyes sharp.
Behind her, Myra walked in with an unreadable expression.
Cecelia stiffened.
Elysia inhaled sharply.
Kael sat up straighter instinctively.
Sylvia’s gaze scanned the room like a hawk surveying prey.
Then she locked eyes with Kael.
"You," she said.
Kael gulped.
Sylvia walked forward, her boots clicking sharply.
"Explain," she commanded. "What exactly happened during the mission?"
Kael opened his mouth.
But Elysia beat him to it.
"He almost died," she snapped. "That’s what happened."
Cecelia added softly, "He... saved us."
Sylvia glanced at both girls, then at Kael again.
Her eyes softened—just a little.
"We heard rumors," she said. "People are saying... you killed a giant demon by yourself."
Kael tensed.
Cecelia gasped softly.
Elysia looked away.
Sylvia continued, "Is it true?"
Kael stared at his hands.
At the memory of the giant demon collapsing beneath his punch.
He didn’t know how to explain it.
So he said the only thing he could.
"I... just did what I had to do."
Sylvia studied him for a moment.
Then nodded slowly.
"...I see."
Myra stepped closer. "I’m glad you’re alive."
Elysia rolled her eyes. "Barely."
Cecelia whispered, "Please stop saying that..."
Sylvia exhaled, shifting the conversation. "Rest. All of you. There will be an investigation tomorrow."
She turned toward the door.
But before she left, she paused and glanced back at Kael.
"Kael," she said quietly. "Good job."
Kael blinked.
"...Thank you."
Sylvia left with Myra.
The room returned to its chaotic peace.
Elysia looked at Kael. "You’re an idiot."
Cecelia smiled gently. "But a brave idiot."
Kael sighed. "Can you two choose one option...?"
"No," they answered simultaneously.
He groaned.
And outside the window, clouds slowly gathered, the first sign of greater storms approaching.
Kael’s name had already spread.
