Transmigrating from a zombie world to become the mecha kings wife-Chapter 633: Out in the open.
Chapter 633: Out in the open.
"Just so you know I am not hiding from him because I am afraid of him. I just don’t want to get into an argument." Severus immediately defended his actions.
"Right." A very doubtful Lythia replied.
"So what kind of milk are you feeding her exactly?" He ignored the doubts in her voice and asked what quipped his interest instead.
She looked up at the hound and smiled mysteriously.
"I am surprised that you do not remember the taste or smell Seby. You grew up drinking this milk."
The only milk Severus had been fed as a pup was hound milk, from his mother. The taste was quite off putting to him. The hound bared his teeth on top in partial disgust and partial surprise.
"Hound milk!!! You are feeding her hound milk."
"Shh! You will wake her and I don’t want her to hear about this. Hound milk is magical and I add a lot more herbs and other good things into this mixture. It’s the biggest reason why she has been able to keep her energy up through this pregnancy." She looked at him thoughtfully and added, "You should know the kind of toll pregnancy takes on reapers. Even humans have it easier."
She smiled gently at Scarlet and touched her cheek. "She has been struggling but she kept it to herself. Her belly is so heavy and she can’t keep down much of what she eats. All she wants to do is rest but she has been pulled into this battle of stupidity."
"And who is to blame?" Severus responded.
"Us." Lythia replied. "Mostly Apo, because he started this mess. And to be frank, Nyx too. He should....." She broke off and folded her lips.
She helped Scarlet out of the bathtub and carried her through the air, leading her to bed. Carefully, she covered her without waking her.
Then, she laid down beside Scarlet and just sighed. Feelings of calm relief finally settled over her and Lythia allowed them to sink in. So many times she had assured herself that Scarlet would return but even she was unsure. She could not blame her from turning around and running away from this mess.
"She knows, you know." Severus said.
Lythia turned her head to the hound which was sitting on the bed which Scarlet had made out for it in the corner of the room.
"Knows what?"
"About Nyx. That he is the true father of the children, that he has been sharing a body with Esong. She knows and she is angry. Her heart is bruised and she is extremely livid. Whatever he is thinking, she is not going to forgive him easily because even I am appalled by what he did."
Lythia sat up, surprised by this revelation. They planned to share this information with Scarlet when the war was over. When everything was calm and the children were safe. She couldn’t help wondering where the information had leaked out from.
There were two choices here, one was defend Nyx and two was pretend that this was news to her as well. She chose one because she was tired of all the secrecy. It was actually a relief to have everything out in the open.
"He didn’t have a choice, his stay in the body using his entire form is temporary because Apo put a seal on it. It would have been too complicated to tell her the truth."
Severus snorted. It sounded like an excuse to him, one that didn’t hold any water. Scarlet was a grim reaper, she would have understood. If she was a human that explanation could be accepted but she was not human. Once you met deities, nothing else in existence could shock you anymore.
"Just how mad is she?" Lythia asked him.
"Let me put it this way, if he is as immortal as she is, it’s going to take him at least ten to one hundred years of groveling to get even one foot into the door."
Lythia’s eyes widened. That was really angry, like beyond worlds angry.
"He watched her cry and beg him not to go into that space crack and he couldn’t bring himself to tell her the truth Lythia." Severus shook his head, disapproval was written all over him. "She begged. She is the most proud woman I know but she begged. I have this feeling that she feels humiliated in the midst of betrayal. And all of you are not innocent as well because you knew but you didn’t tell her."
"It’s complicated Severus." Lythia told him softly.
Severus put his head down and denied her a response. Whatever excuses she wanted to make, she would have to give them to Scarlet directly. All the deities of the underworld had let her down in one way or the other.
Lythia looked at Scarlet with feelings of guilt in her eyes. Scarlet didn’t trust them anymore, that much she knew. Something that had been nagging at the back of her mind came to the forefront and she turned her head to Severus.
"Do you know what happened to Ramslin?" she asked him.
The reaper had been missing for almost the exact same time as Scarlet was. They had not noticed until the search for Scarlet was on and he needed to be questioned. She had her shadows watching him but even they did not notice when the reaper just disappeared out of thin air. His energy was active but the reaper could not be found.
"I don’t know." he answered.
"Scarlet reported him before you all left. According to her, he has been selling star dust to the humans secretly. That star dust was used on the humans that were turned into soul high eventually.
He was a threat to Scarlet because he brought Ulysses to the Blue star. Come on, Severus, I don’t need to look hard to know where fingers should be pointed." she said.
"Well point them elsewhere because we have been travelling around to avoid everything and for Scarlet to find peace of mind. Whatever has been happening at home, we are not aware. Why don’t you ask those demons, maybe they did something. And just so you know, I am glad that he is missing and I hope one of you finally had the good sense to erase him before he could put not just Scarlet but every other reaper in the underworld in danger. You should have erased him the minute we said he was dangerous." he practically shouted at her towards the end of his intense rant.
"Travelling around, huh." she responded.
Everything else, she didn’t address. Typical deity, they only picked and heard what they wanted. If you were blaming them for something, that simply went over their heads.
"Yes." Severus replied.
If she doubted his words then she could prove him otherwise.
She stood up and took two steps towards him. "So if I command you to tell me everything you have been up to you will hang on to your secrets."
"I think you know better than to try." he replied arrogantly.
Lythia chuckled and stared at him, her expression filled with amazement. "You have become brazen thirty one."
"Like reaper like hound." he replied, still arrogant.
